When Valentines Day falls on a Friday, then by golly that can only mean one thing: it’s time to play The Newlywed Game! Our host with the most, Ron “Eubanks” Chambers, handled the MC duties flawlessly and led our three loving couples through a series of questions designed to test how well these couples know each other. As for the Club, we learned that Justin Allen & Jaclyn Powell need to get rid of their pool table, Amy & Neil Busch disagree on whether Frank Sinatra is considered a “Rock Star” and Kat & Brian Gallagher spent their first date flying a kite. When the dust settled, all three couples were still married with two of the couples, Justin & Jaclyn and Amy & Neil, locked in a tie for first place. That’s when it happened. To everyone’s shock and delight, the real host of the Newlywed Game, Bob Eubanks, strolls into the room escorted by Nell Wallace, pulls out a quarter and asks Justin Allen to call it in the air. Allen correctly calls heads and we had our champions! The uber-competitive and now ecstatic Jaclyn Powell, raises two victorious fists in the air, blows past her husband Justin on her way to Bob Eubanks, and poses with Bob and Nell for this year’s Champion’s Photo. Sorry Justin… when Eubanks enters the room, we all look a little less shiny. Rotary Happens Making Dreams Real The Newlywed Game!

We live in a world where 821 million people suffer from chronic malnutrition. Malnutrition is the leading cause of disease and death in the world. Approximately 3.1 million children die from undernutrition each year (UNICEG 2018a). That's over 81,000 children each day.
With Rise Against Hunger, a simple contribution of $75 can fund ONE BOX which will feed ONE CHILD for ONE YEAR at school.
What can we do?
By inspiring and connecting our Rotary District Community, by collaborating together we can gather the resources to save lives, one child at a time.

Opening Remarks From Friday’s Meeting Valentine’s Day began as St. Valentine’s Day, a liturgical celebration of one or more early Christian saints named Valentinus. February 14th first became associated with romantic love during the High Middle Ages as the tradition of courtly love was then flourishing. During 18th century England, this day evolved into an occasion in which lovers expressed their love for each other by presenting flowers, offering confectionery and sending Valentine cards.
Mixed opinions prevail regarding who or what was celebrated in mid-February. Some point to martyred saints by the name of Valentine or Valentinus. The most popular story tells of the saint who defied a decree by Emperor Claudius II who outlawed marriage for young men because he believed single men made better soldiers. St. Valentine, preferring young lovers to be wed than have them sneaking around (or believing in the power of love), would marry them in secret. However, it may have been another Valentine who performed the marriages. Either way, at least two of them were beheaded for their actions.
