Taizé Service Tonight at 6pm at Holy Trinity

A service of prayer, reflection and Taizé music for Lent will take place at 6.00 pm at Holy Trinity this evening. All welcome.

Study and Prayer Groups in Lent

Lent has begun and, as well as giving things up,

Christians traditionally try to focus more on study and prayer during these forty days.

There are Lent Groups at St Paul’s on

Tuesday mornings after the 10am Mass and at Holy Innocents on Wednesday mornings

after the 9.30 Mass. Both these groups will be reflecting on the excellent book by Rowan Williams, called Meeting God in Paul.

Meanwhile, at Holy Trinity the Pilgrim Group

continues to meet after the 7.30pm Mass on Tuesdays. The group is studying the Lord’s Prayer.

On Friday evenings in Lent at 7.30 pm we are invited to join in prayer with the other Churches in this part of North London at Stations of the Cross. The service will

be at a different Church each week and provides a Lenten opportunity to express our desire for the Christian unity

that Our Lord prayed for in his agony in the garden.

Finally, if you would like to do something extra this Lent, why not consider coming to one of our midweek services? Morning and Evening Prayer

and Mass are celebrated every weekday and would make a very proper Lenten devotion.

Help Needed & Thanks!

Could you spare an hour or two a week to help make sure Holy Trinity Church is

kept looked as clean and polished as always? A dedicated team meet on Friday mornings to do this each week, and they are looking

for one or two people to join them.

Please speak to Fr. Patrick or to Margarette Gittens to find out more, and

many thanks to those who have already offered.

Pilgrim Course on Tuesdays at Holy Trinity

Each Tuesday during Lent at 8.15 pm we are looking at prayer – specifically the Lord’s Prayer. The sessions last for an hour or so with some time

for prayer, a bible reading, a reflection on the reading and an opportunity

for discussion. All welcome.

St Paul’s Mothers’ Union Cook for the Night

Shelter

Many thanks to Hannah and the members of St Paul’s Mothers’ Union for the delicious food they prepared

for the Night Shelter last week.

It was very much appreciated by all the guests and volunteers alike.

The MU members were delighted that one of their volunteers was Bev Jullien,

the Chief Executive of the Mothers’ Union and Stephen’s Mum! We were pleased

she was able to see the St Paul’s branch at its industrious and generous best.

Lent Appeal 2016

This year the Diocese of London’s Lent Appeal will be raising money to support persecuted Christians

in places like Iraq and Syria.

Holy Trinity is supporting this by providing soup after Mass on Sundays. Please enjoy a bowl

of (vegetarian) soup in the Groves Room after Mass

and the money you donate towards it will support the appeal.

Offers to make soup

for the Sundays in Lent will be gratefully received.

At St Paul’s and Holy Innocents we will have an extra retiring

collection after Mass on Mothering Sunday to support Christians in the Middle East.

Ecumenical Stations of the Cross

Stations of the Cross will take place on Friday evening in Lent at 7.30pm at five local churches

in turn. This week, Friday 26th February, Stations is at Hornsey Parish Church, Cranley Gardens, N10. All welcome.

Norman Mattis RIP

We are very sad to announce the death of Norman Mattis,

a long-time parishioner of Holy Innocents.

Norman’s funeral will take place at Holy Innocents

on Tuesday, 23rd February at 11.30 am. All are welcome to attend.

Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord. And let light

perpetual shine upon him.

Women’s World Day of Prayer

Every year women around the world meet to take part in something unique – they gather to worship and

pray together using the same service adapted to local needs.

This year our local service will be at The Moravian Church, Priory Road, N8

at 11.00 am on Friday 4th March.

All welcome to a service in which women (and men) are part of a great wave of prayer which, over 36 hours, will cross the world.

Any further information from Janet Williams at Holy Innocents, Marguerite Lewis at Holy Trinity and Hannah Taylor at St Paul's.

Lead Theft at Holy Innocents

This has been a bad, wet week

at Holy Innocents because thieves have stolen some lead from the roof of the Church. It meant that a lot of water

came through the roof of the sacristy on Wednesday night.

Many thanks to Stephen and Angie who helped Fr Tim

clear up the damage.

Deanery Synod at Holy Innocents

The next meeting of the West

Haringey Deanery Synod will take place at Holy Innocents at 8.15 pm

on Wednesday 24th February.

The speaker will be Andy Burns. Andy works for Capital Mass,

a Diocesan organisation that helps equip parishes to tackle poverty and inequality in London. All are welcome to come to the meeting.
