Our West Coast furlough starts about the time you get this prayer letter. We anticipate spending two weeks on the East Coast, then heading west to California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Our tentative schedule is below. We are looking forward to visiting our prayer and ministry partners and churches. This will be our first trip back to the Western states in five years.

Please pray for new speaking opportunities while we are there. We would appreciate referrals to new churches and friends the Lord may bring to your mind. We would also be very pleased if you could set up an even-ing gathering at your homes over a meal or dessert to share the ministry of TWR with your friends. We are just $700/month short of the support requirement set by TWR. Please pray the Lord will meet this need during or even before our furlough begins.

Pray for safe travels.

Host a coffee and dessert presentation time.

Introduce us to your church Missions Team.

Pray for Lydia especially while we are in the USA.

Loan us a vehicle suitable for our family and Joshua’s wheelchair in July and August. We could use a minivan, large SUV, or even a small RV (just for August, which would solve the next need).

Offer us a place to stay (you hear extra stories that way!).

Contribute to the special furlough expense needs like travel, meals, housing, etc.

We installed a new tower at the AM transmitter site to receive the programs

from the studio.

Family News

Joshua’s new wheelchair and stander finally arrived. They are helping with his therapy and rehabilitation. He has a little more muscle movement back but still has a long way to go if he is to walk again. He is continuing scuba diving and taking part in the Junior Rangers with STINAPA, the Bonaire Marine Park Service.

Lydia has had her ups and down at the psychiatric residential treatment facility in Charlotte. She had a setback after Mari visited her in March, resulting in being admitted to a hospital for acute care for ten days. She is back at the PRTF now and getting back into the routine. Please pray for her progress and for the Lord’s wisdom as we eval-uate her long-term care options.

Rachel is doing well, enjoying the sun-shine and really looking forward to fur-lough. Her goals seem to be to visit all

the science places she can, such as two astro-nomical observatories, a planetarium, science museums, JPL, and Dinosaur National Park! And at least one amusement park with roller coasters.

Mari is kept busy with schooling and managing medical follow-ups for Joshua and Lydia. She is doing better in many ways the last few months and is much more rested and relaxed.

As I mentioned last time, I have been enjoying my lifelong hobby of ham radio. For almost 40 years, I have enjoyed researching how far VHF radio signals, such as FM radio, travel over the world’s oceans. Sometimes special weather conditions called tempera-ture inversions bend the radio signals great distanc-es around the Earth. In May I was extremely excit-ed to receive VHF signals from the Cape Verde Is-lands near the African coast. This record-setting

2,917-mile range is the first-ever confirmed radio reception like this across the Atlantic and is the greatest VHF radio distance ever on VHF across the Atlantic. The success comes after ten years of research and was greatly helped by a Europe-an team installing a beacon transmitter on the Cape Verde islands.

Project Thank you so much to all who gave so generously towards our medical expenses. Lydia’s treatment and other medical costs this year are expected to require an additional $7,000 in 2015 after our insurance pays the majority of the bills.
