The Annual Gala and Contemporaries Bash raise critical resources for the museum’s award-winning education programs that inspire creativity, foster a greater understanding of our world, and provide lifelong learning experiences for art-lovers of all ages in our community, across the country, and around the world.

Arts Integration with Prism.K12Prism.K12 is the set of strategies that the Phillips developed to help teachers create rigorous arts-integrated lessons and curricula. The museum has researched and produced arts-integrated teacher resources, engaged in local school partnerships, and led national K-12 initiatives.

Phillips@THEARCThe Phillips has opened a new campus at THEARC in Southeast DC, providing arts-infused services that promote wellness to new audiences. Tapping into creativity in everyday life experiences, interactive programs—co-created with the Ward 7 and 8 community and THEARC partners—are tailored to caregivers, older adults, and K-12 schools.

Connecting Art and WellnessDuncan Phillips possessed a keen understanding of the healing power of art. The Phillips’s Creative Aging program (in partnership with Iona Senior Services) demonstrates the Phillips’s commitment to connecting art and wellness.

Enhancing the Museum ExperienceThe Phillips engages visitors through talks, tours, and lectures, as well as interdisciplinary experiments. The museum’s popular Phillips after 5 monthly afterhours events and annual family festival feature a lively mix of art and entertainment.

DREAMING OF DOHAInspired by Doha’s vibrant colors, the 2016 Contemporaries Bash celebrated the rich culture of Qatar and the Middle East in one dazzling night of cocktails, music, food, fashion, and dancing. The night featured falconry, gaming stations, an arabic calligrapher, henna stations, and an unforgettable art installation by Daniel Wurtzel.

BERLIN UNDERGROUNDInspired by Berlin’s pulsing underground nightlife, the 2017 Contemporaries Bash brought the German capital’s decadent club scene to Dock 5 in one sensational night of cocktails, music, food, fashion, and dancing, as well as a dazzling art installation by Philipp Artus.
