Vikhe Patil Foundation and has made tremendous contribution to organizational and institutional promotion and
development.
It is noteworthy to mention that Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has visited Loni on a number of occasions. He had been very
much impressed by the Loni PURA model, which is a participative model of integrated rural development and has
come up among 44 villages. The PURA stands for Providing Urban facilities in Rural Areas (PURA).
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Center for Creating Livable Planet and Sustainable Development aims to create and imple-
ment mission-mode projects along the visions and missions of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (1931-2015), the 11th Presi-
dent of India. It aims to promote innovations, especially in governance and social enterprises, improve youth
participation in national and international development and improve access to education and knowledge in all strata
of the society. The centre was started in 2015, after Dr. Kalam’s sad and sudden demise in Shillong while address-
ing his students in IIM Shillong.
Earlier this year, the center organized the International Youth Conclave on Livable Planet in Lucknow in July, where
the likes of Shri Ram Naik (Honorable Governor of Uttar Pradesh), Shri Akhilesh Yadav (Honorable Chief Minister
of Uttar Pradesh), Dr. Kailash Satyarthi (Nobel Prize Winner), Ms. Dia Mirza, Mr. Javagal Srinath, Mr. Arunacha-
lam Muruganantham, Mr. Anshu Gupta and Padma Bhushan Dr. S.B Mujumdar participated along with 300 youth

FROM THE CEO’S DESK
This month we unveiled the salient of the
Pravara Culture – the key elements that define
who we are and give us the impetus for the
pursuit of excellence. These are represented by
the acronym ACE and stand for Accountability,
Competence and Employability.
No one can succeed without taking
responsibility for his or her actions. Indeed, to
be accountable is to be a grown up! The same
is true of organizations. At Pravara we
recognize that each College, School and
Institute is a unit, completely accountable for
its success and failure – be it academic,
administrative or financial. The Pravara
Bhawan is there to assist, support and
motivate the units and provide for resources
when required. But final accountability must
rest with each unit and eventually with each
individual.
There is hardly any need to explain the
centrality of Competence in our lives. Unless
one is proficient at the assigned role, success
and respect are impossible to achieve. At
Pravara, we place the importance of being
competent at the very heart of our actions.
Finally Employability! We at Pravara recognize
that much of our education does not
necessarily make us employable. Indeed the
Human Resource people bemoan the fact that
students graduating from colleges are hardly
battle-ready for real life challenges. We have
made it our mission to bridge the gulf between
the requirement of the real world and the
knowledge and application skills imparted to
the students. This is our focus and the upward
movement of the placement numbers is
already telling that happy story!
Best wishes to all members of the Pravara
family.
