The Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown, PA St. John the Evangelist, St. Joseph, St. Mary Nativity, St. Therese Parishes of the Diocese of Greensburg “ A Pennsylvania Charitable Trust” 7 th Sunday of Easter: May 24, 2020 Regular Office Hours Have Resumed: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM The Parish Office Will Be Closed Monday, May 25 th (Memorial Day) Keep informed by viewing the main page of our website for up-to-date information: www.faysouth.org Or visit our Facebook Page: The Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown A Message From Father Tony Exciting news! Because of the wonderful response we have seen to our online celebration of the Mass (with between 3,000 and 4,000 families participating each week), the Saint Therese Finance Council has approved the purchase of the technology that will enable us to continue our online ministry, even after all of our parishes have fully re-opened. It was determined that Saint Therese would be the “trial run” parish in which to launch this ministry, because of its physical layout, acoustics, and existing Internet connection. We have ordered high-definition cameras that will be permanently mounted, as well as "live switching" technology that will enable us to alternate between camera angles while the liturgy is taking place (to eliminate the need for post- production/video editing), at an estimated total cost of $14,000.00. Our intent is to Live-stream one Mass each weekend on Facebook and on a soon-to-launch Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown YouTube channel; we also intend to explore the possibility of broadcasting the Mass on Fayette Chamber TV (Atlantic Broadband Channel 77). We are hopeful that this ministry will allow the homebound, and others who may be curious about the Catholic faith or seeking a church home, to connect with our church family and ultimately experience God's love and Christ's presence. Parishioners of Saint Therese: Would you be willing to consider a contribution of any amount to help continue to bring Jesus into the homes of Uniontown and beyond? Donations will be gratefully accepted in your name, in the name of your business, or in honor/in memory of a loved one. To show our gratitude for your assistance in defraying the cost of this technology, we will list the names of our donors in the bulletin, and on-screen during the "credits" following the stream of each Mass. The impact of your gift will be felt for years to come, as it enables us to live the Gospel call to "go and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19). After the initial run with this ministry at Saint Therese, if parishioners of Saint John, Saint Joseph and Saint Mary are interested in investing in the expansion of this ministry into your respective parishes, that possibility is certainly worth consideration and can be discussed. For questions or to arrange your donation, please contact Brenda or Karen at the parishes' office: 724-437-4441 God Bless, Fr. Tony

A Message From Father Tony Exciting news! Because of the wonderful response we have seen to our online celebration of the Mass (with between 3,000 and 4,000 families participating each week), the Saint Therese Finance Council has approved the purchase of the technology that will enable us to continue our online ministry, even after all of our parishes have fully re-opened. The following guidelines are subject to change pending updates from the Diocese of Greensburg. To keep current on the most recent parish news and updates, visit our Facebook Page (The Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown), Parish Website (www.faysouth.org) or feel free to call the Parish Office (724)437-4441. For the foreseeable future, all people will remain dispensed from the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays. Those

who feel vulnerable because of age or health are encouraged to stay home, while those who are sick should not attend public worship. Masses will continue to be streamed online and broadcast on WMBS radio.

The Uniontown churches will open doors 1/2 hour prior to the beginning of Mass. No admittance before that time. To ensure adherence to social distancing guidelines of six feet, which equates to approximately 25% of capacity

inside the church, pews will be marked accordingly and Ministers of Hospitality will guide attendees to appropriate seating (first-come, first-served basis). Seating will begin at the front of the church so we may easily keep track of the number of people in attendance and allow for maximum seating capacity.

Attendees will be seated in accordance with social distancing guidelines. Members of the same household may sit

together; therefore, we recommend that households attend Mass as a family in order to allow more seating to be available.

Attendees must wear a mask, as the Presider will not begin Mass unless everyone is in compliance (children 2

years and younger are exempt). Those with medical conditions that prohibit wearing a mask are to call the Parish Office by Friday so arrangements can be made to seat you in the first pew.

Due to capacity restrictions, some attendees may be directed to another Mass location or invited to view Mass

online once the church has reached its maximum capacity. We ask for your patience and understanding as we strive to return to worship in a safe manner.

No attendees will be permitted to stand in the vestibule or in the church, or remain in the sacristy or choir areas. All communicants are strongly encouraged to receive the Sacred Host in the hand. The chalice of the Precious

Blood will not be offered to the congregation. The Sign of Peace at this time will not include a handshake, instead we will turn to the person next to us and offer a

reverential bow. Collection baskets will be set in stationary and suitable locations in the church for placement of your offertory

envelopes. We encourage the continuation of On-line Giving or mailing of envelopes to the Parish Office. Holy water and baptismal fonts will be drained. Hymnals and missalettes will be removed. Attendees are welcome to bring their own resources to follow the

readings for the day. Suggestions: The Word Among Us, 1-800-775-9673 (complementary digital access @ https://wau.org); Magnificat, 1-866-273-5215 (trial subscription currently available @ https://us.magnificat.net/free).

In accordance with CDC guidelines, the churches will be cleaned with soap and water once a week, and all high-

contact areas will be sanitized after all liturgies. We ask for your help in two ways: 1) Do your best to limit touching surfaces — allow the Hospitality Ministers to open the door for you, etc. 2) Volunteer to help sanitize the church after weekday and weekend liturgies. Call the Rita Rae at the Parish Office if you are able to assist with this endeavor and we will give you guidance on how to proceed. Gloves and sanitizing products will be provided. Parish Office: (724)437-4441. After Mass, those not helping with sanitizing the church are asked to promptly leave (adhering to social distancing

guidelines) so the work may quickly commence and we can safely be ready for the next liturgy.

As we begin the process of re-opening our parishes to public worship, we know many of you have questions and are eager to resume your involvement in the life of the parish - we are eager for that as well - we have missed you and your parish needs you! Moving forward, a little patience and caution is still required. In the next week or two, our Office Personnel will be reaching out to the leaders of our various parish groups to relay information about the necessary guidelines that must be in place to resume meetings and other parish activities.
