VOCATION CORNER Today, the Church celebrates Priesthood Sunday, a special day set aside to honor priesthood in the United States. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the role of the priesthood as a central one in the life of the Church. The Universal Church observes worldwide events, such as World Day of Prayer for Vocations and World Day for Consecrated Life, however, Priesthood Sunday specifically honors priests, without whom the Mass could not be offered and Sacraments could not be celebrated. Even before this pandemic age, we could truly consider our parish priests, Father Tony, Father Vincent, and Father Anthony, as the original essential workers fulfilling an indispensable need for their parishioners, but especially during the past six months as our churches were closed and now slowly reopen, we appreciate the leadership, struggles, and
faithfulness with which Father Tony, Father Vincent, and Father Anthony continued to see that parishioners were able to watch and now come back to Mass, celebrate the other sacraments in sometimes unique ways, and tend to all the spiritual needs of the people in whatever way possible. So today, say thank you to God for the gift of Father Tony, Father Vincent, and Father Anthony in our parishes and for all priests who have had a role in our lives, and also say thank you to them for answering God’s call to serve as priests. —- The Vocation Ministry Team A Blessing Prayer for Priests: In your loving kindness, O good and gracious God, you sent your Son to be our shepherd and guide. Father Tony, Father Vincent, and Father Anthony continue Christ's ministry of working in the vineyard by sustaining and guiding your holy people in the Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown. Bless Father Tony, Father Vincent, and Father Anthony. Let your Spirit uphold them always in their service to the people of our parishes and sustain them through the joys and struggles of this life until they celebrate eternally with God.
