LIVE THE LITURGY

"Show me what is physically different between a host that

is consecrated and one that is not." These are words that

can be heard on the lips of anyone struggling with faith.

Perhaps, they are heard on yours. Physical tests will reveal

no difference. The difference is seen through faith. In one

sense, it is simple. Either we believe that the risen Christ is

present soul and divinity or we do not. The fruits of

faith are the proof. In the Eucharist, God enters into the

very depths of who we are. However, it is our choice

whether we ignore what He does or act fully upon it. The

Eucharist can change us. When people see that we are dif-

ferent, they in turn will themselves believe.

ST. MARY/ST. AUGSTINE PARISH OFFICE

Office Hours for this week are Monday to Thursday

from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Office # 5184836674

From Fr. Ray…

I wish to invite you to join me next Sunday, August

26th, at the parish center of St. Augustine immediately

following the 8:00 a.m. Mass to thank Judy King for her

years of service as our Director of Religious Formation

and to wish her well in her retirement years. Coffee and

donuts will be served during this gathering.

Jack Carter, our Diocesan Insurance Manager, has in-

formed all pastors of a change in our Diocesan Facilities

Use Policy related to the purchase of Special Events Lia-

bility (Tulip) Insurance caused by the need to retain a

new insurance company to carry this coverage for us.

Special Events Liability Coverage is applicable to a one

time, one day private event for an individual or families

(noncommercial) who wish to use a parish center for

birthday parties, wedding and baby showers etc.

Under this new system individuals who wish to use a

parish center will need to ascertain a facility code num-

ber, go online for instructions and a payment process to

purchase the coverage that protects them, our parish and

the diocese from liability claims resulting from the cov-

ered event. This policy takes place immediately for any-

one seeking use of the parish center and is not connected

with the use for any parish events.

LEGAL PROTECTION OF HUMAN LIFE

The U.S. Bishops urge our participation each Friday in a

nationwide Novena for the Legal Protection of Human

Life, August 3September 28. Participants will receive

weekly email or text reminders to pray and fast, along

with littleknown Facts about Roe vs Wade to share with

others. Sign up at www.usccb.org/pray!

HELP PROMOTE PEACE IN THE WORLD

Something extraordinary happens when you share your

home and family with a high school student from another

country. That’s why 13,000 families worldwide host AFS

students every year. Y ou can help build bridges of inter-

cultural understanding and enrich your own life in count-

less ways by opening your heart and home to an AFS ex-

change student.

Host families come in all shapes and sizes, and everyone

is encouraged to apply! Host families provide a bed, meals,

and the same guidance you would for your own child and

are supported by local AFS volunteers throughout the year.

Students are here for the academic year (AugustJune),

though they will become a part of your family and your

lives for many years to come!

The world is transformed when people from different

countries and cultures share their lives, learn together, and

better understand one another. Help make the world a more

just and peaceful place, one person at a time, by hosting an

AFS student.
