Pondering Stewardship In our daily lives, we manage our family and work responsibilities. But to become occupied with these important matters to the exclusion of the need of others outside our home or work is a mistake we could carry into eternity.

Please mark your envelopes! When filling out your weekly enve-lopes, please be sure to include the amount of your offering on the

cover. Thank you!

Our Parishes & Pastoral Care Area

Please notify us if you have a family member who is homebound or in a Nursing Home. We want to be sure to add them to our flower delivery list and bulletin mailing list. Please also let us know if you know someone who is homebound or in a nursing home who would like a visit from a parish representative. Keeping in touch with our parishioners who can no longer attend Mass is important to us. Please call the office at 724-1372 to let us know.

MASS REQUESTS - If you are interested in re-questing a Mass for 2018 at either Holy Trinity or St. Cyril’s, please contact the Parish Office.

Save the Dates: Summer 2018 Youth Trips! Notre Dame Vision—July 15 to 20 Nazareth Farm—July 15 to 21 More information and informational meeting dates will follow in the coming months. If you have any questions, or would like to add your name to either trip list now, please contact Andrea Carey at [email protected].

Daily Mass Winter Reminder—When school is cancelled or delayed for the Binghamton or Johnson City School Districts due to inclement weather, the 8am Mass at Holy Trinity will be cancelled for that day.

Ongoing Clothing Drive—We are in desperate need of winter coats, clothes, gloves, hats, and scarves for men, women, and children of all sizes. Please look in your closets and encourage friends and family members to help too! All donations can be brought to the basement of the St. Cyril’s Par-ish Hall before or after any weekend Mass throughout the winter months. Your generosity is truly appreciated by those in our community!

Mark your calendars! Holy Trinity’s Mardi Gras family fun celebration will be held on Saturday, February 10 from 2-4pm in the Church Hall. Mem-bers of both parishes are invited to join in the fun! Watch the bulletin for ticket information.

Holy Trinity Envelopes—Please contact the Par-ish Office to make arrangements to pick up your 2018 envelopes. If you no longer wish to receive envelopes, please let us know, as it does cost the Church money to have them printed. Any enve-lopes remaining in the office after January 31 will be marked as “inactive” in our parishioner list.

Book Club—The St. James Book Club will begin January 15 at 6:30pm in the McDevitt Room. Please read 1 Samuel in its entirety before this first session. All are welcome!

Feast of the Epiphany—This weekend, January 6th and 7th, we will continue the tradition of the blessing of the home on the feast of the Epiphany. A Holy Water bot-tle and chalk for the marking of your home are available at all church entrances following

this weekend’s Masses. An explanation of this tra-dition and a Blessing of the Home is also included. These packets will be blessed after Communion, and then the ushers will take them to the entranc-es. This is one way we can dedicate our homes to the Lord and ask Him to watch over and protect all who dwell and visit there. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the Year of the Family as we continue our prayers for the family.

2018 Calendars are available at the church en-trances of Holy Trinity and St. Cyril’s courtesy of Bednarsky Funeral Home, J.F. Rice Funeral Home, and Sedlock Funeral Home. We thank them for their generosity!

A special thank you to all who sponsor an ad in our bulletin. We appreciate your generosity!

Information on Formed—All those in our Pasto-ral Care Area (PCA) are provided a subscription to Formed, an online resource for the best Catho-lic content, including e-books, movies, studies, and videos. You may access the subscription by visiting FORMED.org to register. The parish ac-cess code is T44BBZ.FORMED. There are many free resources available. If you have any ques-tions, please contact the Parish Office.

JANUARY 7 - THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY

VOCATIONS—In today’s Gospel, we see the Magi follow intrepidly the sign of the Star until they found the Baby Jesus with Mary and Joseph. Where do the signs of your life point you to? If you have questions about a Reli-

gious vocation, please visit www.vocations-syracuse.org.

A Family Perspective The Magi in today’s gos-pel were led to Jesus by a star. Who are the stars your children follow? Do not let it be the tabloid stars. Resolve in this New Year to be the guiding star in the lives of your children.

PRAY FOR VOCATIONS We pray this month especially for: Dennis Walker From Our Lady of Hope,

Syracuse Theology II St. Mary’s Seminary

Common Courtesy—As we are now in cold and flu season, we ask that you please use common sense before extending your hand for the sign or peace or receiving the Precious Blood from the cup. If you are under the weather, please refrain from taking both species, and make a simple ap-propriate gesture to your neighbor as an expres-sion of peace.

Team Trivia! Join us and test your knowledge with Team Trivia on Sat-urday, January 13 from 7-10pm in the St. Thomas Aquinas Gym. The

cost is $10 per person and includes beer, wine, soda, water, and snacks. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams! For more information or to regis-ter your team, please contact Bill & Millie Coughlin at 729-4404, or Sue Miller at 343-1040.

National Migration Week—For nearly a half cen-tury, the Catholic Church in the United States has celebrated National Migration Week. This week is an opportunity to reflect on the circumstances con-fronting migrants, including immigrants, refugees, children and victims and survivors of human traf-ficking. The theme for National Migration Week 2018 draws attention to the fact that each of our families have a migration story, some recent and others in the distant past. Regardless of where we are and where we came from, we remain part of the human family and are called to live in solidarity with one another. Please prayerfully recall all mi-grants, past and present, throughout this week.

Widows & Widowers Meeting for January 11, 2018 will be held at 1:00pm at the Church of the Holy Family in Endwell in Room 2. Our speaker will be Megan Clark from Estate Solutions of the Southern Tier. This will help any of you who need to “weed out,” downsize, or eliminate items from your home. Refreshments will be served. If you have any questions, contact Janet at 748-0812.

10th Annual IGNITE Catholic Men’s Conference, sponsored by the Diocese of Syracuse will be held March 24, 2018 and will include Deacon Harold Burke-Silver, Michael Komisarek, and Dr. Peter Kreeft as speakers. The Southern Region Kickoff

Event will be held Thursday, January 11 at Our Lady of Good Counsel with Mass at 6:30pm and an Informational Meeting at 7pm. Contact Rick Sanguinito at 607-222-3509 for more information. All Catholic men are welcome!

32nd Annual Knights for Life Spaghetti Dinner featuring sauce and meatballs by Cortese Restau-rant will be held Sunday, Jan 28 from 12-5pm at Knights of Columbus Council No. 206, 136 Park Ave, Binghamton. Adult tickets are $10, children (under 12) are $5. Dinner includes spaghetti and meatballs, salad, dessert, bread, coffee, tea & milk. All proceeds benefit our local Right to Life & Birthright. Tickets are available at the door. For more ticket information call Len Almy at 427-3555, Charlie Browning at 725-7516, or Michael Mur-phey at 765-9201. Takeout orders are available (must be picked up by 4pm) by calling 771-8303.

Are you being called to serve in minis-try? The Formation for Ministry pro-gram prepares adult Catholics to serve as lay ecclesial minsters in their parishes. The program includes coursework, train-ing, field work, and spiritual formation.

Our next five-week session begins in January. If you feel God is calling you to serve, please con-tact the Diocesan Office of Formation for Ministry at 315-470-1491 or [email protected] for more information about our program. Courses can also be taken for adult faith formation.
