The Roman Missal, Third Typical Edition (2011) ___________________________ How many editions are there? Seven publishers have produced their own Roman Missal, 3 rd Edition. Of the seven publishers, Four are recommended for use in the Diocese of Sioux Falls, based upon history of quality in book binding, as well as presentation: USCCB Publishing http://www.usccbpublishing.org/ Midwest Theological Forum (Opus Dei) http://www.theologicalforum.org/ Liturgy Training Publications http://www.ltp.org/ Magnificat http://www.magnificat.com/ Are all the editions the same? Yes – in that all must follow the same publishing rules, that is, consistent pagination (for example, the Lord’s Prayer must appear on the same page number in all editions), art work limited to certain pages, etc. Each Missal is approximately 1500 pages. No – in that art work, binding, type face, overall quality, etc. will vary. Their shipping is on average cheaper than the publishers as well, so this discount exceeds any local or bulk discount the Diocese can acquire. It is not a volume based discount, and all parishes are eligible for it. This discount exceeds any quantity discount the diocese or individual can obtain. When will the missals be shipped? The USCCB Committee for Divine Worship stipulates that publishers will be permitted to ship the Missals on and after October 1, 2011 . Not earlier. All of the Order of Mass, as well as the Proper prayers for the seasons of Advent and Christmas are available online at the Diocesan and USCCB websites.
