The Score Nancy DeHaven, Editor The Newsletter of the NSMTA October 2007 ______________________________________________________________________________ From our President…. Dear NSMTA Members, September’s program featured a terrific presentation by Mary Clare Barker. It was a very nice way to start our season. As of this writing NSMTA still has several problems that need to be solved. We still don’t have a recital chairperson or a competition chairperson and no one in our membership has stepped forward to meet this need. I feel that there is no choice but to hire an individual for a paid position to organize and run these events. At our next meeting I will ask our attending members to give their thoughts of how to proceed. Out of these ideas we will look for the best solution. We are still compiling membership numbers so it isn’t yet clear on the final number of members we have in NSMTA. The yearbook is nearing completion and will be ready for the October meeting. Finally we will offer members a $30.00 rebate for those who attend the ISMTA conference in October. The purpose is to show our support for the conference and to lift some of the financial burden from our attending members. Please keep your registration receipt so we can verify attendance. Lastly, I picked up several boxes of books and music from Martha Arquilla’s estate. In her will she left her music library to NSMTA. It is really too much music to carry in and out for each meeting, but I will bring one of the boxes for our October meeting. The books are free.
