Alex DePue and Miguel De Hoyos

Individually, Alex DePue and Miguel De Hoyos have wowed the world—from DePue performing at Carnegie Hall at the age of 14 and touring with rock guitarist Steve Vai in 2007 to De Hoyos entertaining government officials and diplomats in Mexico and performing in Romania by invitation from the Romanian government. Together, they produce an unparalleled sound—music that can speak to anyone’s soul. “There’s really no other way to describe the fiddling of Alex DePue — it stings.” – Andrew McGinn, Springfield News-Sun “I’ve seen the great guitar players up close and in person: Santana, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan… Miguel De Hoyos is among these greats…” – Steve Dryden, Baja Breeze – B.C.N., MX

DePue/De Hoyos have performed throughout North America, opening for the Philadelphia Orchestra at Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall, performing a solo spot with the Ocean City Pops (Ocean City, NJ), and appearing on international television for the Mrs. World Pageant (Tijuana, B.C.S., MX). They were featured at the International Film Festival and Art Walk (Imperial City, CA), and headlined the Clark State University Artist Series. In 2007, the pair presented a standout concert at the Stranahan Theater (Toledo, OH). “The two perform an engaging and often virtuosic combination of classical-tinted takes on popular songs and original compositions, their cohesion and chops often remarkable.” – Todd Clouser, Gringo Gazette – B.C.S., MX

In 2009, the duo was at the National Oldtime Fiddling Championship in Weiser (ID) as instructors, and later that year, appeared as the featured act at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Grand Master Fiddler Championship in Nashville. DePue/De Hoyos have appeared at Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo (Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S., MX), and have performed throughout Mexico for Mexican diplomats and government officials. DePue/De Hoyos did a radio show with George Varga, Music Critic for the San Diego Union-Tribune. “What results is a heady mix of virtuosity and sophistication that is even more impressive live”. – George Varga, San Diego Union-Tribune The duo currently has two recordings available, “Underground Whispers” and “Twisted Strings”. Alex Depue and Miguel De Hoyos have only been playing together a short time but it seems like they have been playing together for decades. Their CD titled “Underground Whispers” came out on June 13th, 2008. Rock-N-Roll on the fiddle and guitar featuring “Dust In The Wind” by Kansas, “Stairway To Heaven” by Led Zeppelin, and “All I Ask” from The Phantom Of The Opera to name a few.

esther golton

Esther is a singer, flutist, mountain dulcimer player, and composer from Talkeetna, Alaska. She has recorded 2 CDs. Her first CD “Unfinished Houses” spotlights her songs, while her newest project – “Aurora Borealis”, paints a mesmerizing instrumental portrait of Alaska’s Northern Lights.

eric and Sean Braendel

Alaska born singer/songwriter, Eric is joined by his son Sean, who may be young but has already become a fine guitarist in his own right. Their music is heavily influenced by folk and blues. Eric Braendel is often called “Alaska’s Gordon Lightfoot”. He is the winner of the Alaska Song of the Year.

Betsy Scott

Seldovia’s steamy jazz songstress. It is rumored that Betsy has a 20 year history in the theater, having been featured at the Alaska Repertory Theater and Cyrano’s. This gal loves to sing!!! Betsy will be joined by Florentia Scott and Cindy McKenna.

Danny Schmidt

Austin, TX-based singer/songwriter, Danny Schmidt has been building an enthusiastic (nearly cult-like) following while simultaneously inspiring the admiration of his fellow artists and critical acclaim from industry professionals. He is the real deal, an authentic timeless troubadour in the tradition of Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Dave Carter, who delivers his craft with a quiet power, a level of complexity, and an underlying humanity that is truly rare in this age of sound bite marketeering.

It’s his songwriting which won him the prestigious Kerrville New Folk award, but it’s his intense live performances that leave listeners with a sense that each of his songs is necessary, plain and simple. His guitar work is effortless and sparkling, his arrangements are fresh and unpredictable, his voice ageless. Stylistically and musically, Danny’s writing spans an impressively diverse reach, from deeply-rooted Appalachian mountain gospel to haunted English balladry, from syncopated Piedmont country blues to vagabond 60’s protest folk-stumpery.

He tackles universal themes of love, loss, and longing . . . restless discontent and grateful joy. And he captures both the sorrow and the beauty inherent in our everyday lives with the wisdom of a perceptive, compassionate elder and with the innocent awe and tenderness of a child.

In the words of Sing Out Magazine: ”He is perhaps the best new songwriter we’ve heard in the last 15 years.” And in the words of Texas Monthly: ”With seductive simplicity, his music simply demands your attention.”

Love Life Music

Milo Matthews, an Alaskan Groovlicious bass driven soloist, takes you on an edgy soulful journey that speaks a simple truth that will rock you back into life. Milo’s full mastered sound contains many layers of rhythms, textured effect, and rocking vocal, and if you close your eyes, you would think you were listening to a full band. He is currently living his dream as a Producer, Recording Engineer, Musician and Husband at Love Life Music Productions, a humble and highly creative recording studio residing in the forested woods of Homer, Alaska. He is joined by the spiritually lifting harmonies and vocals of Shawn Zuke.

Billy goat

Seldovia’s own “old timey” group, has been honing their skills by playing at various Seldovia and Girdwood venues and is a town favorite. The group consists of Kari Hendrick, Kirby Corwin, Jeff Snedgen, and Chris Lillo.

Liz Malys

Liz is an Anchorage songwriter who is facile on both the piano and cello. She performs original songs with a breathy, bluesy sound. As a young singer/songwriter blossoming into her own, pianist Liz Malys is drawing comparisons to early Joni Mitchell and Tori Amos. Her piano themes and improvisations with ethereal vocals on top are “expressive and evocative with uncommon depth ... luxurious and dreamy...” allowing her to draw “a certain power over an audience that few performers can ever hope to possess.”

Carrie elton

A troubadour in the most classic fashion, Elkin has ridden a Gypsy breeze of serendipity for the last ten years, landing for a time in Cleveland, Athens, Taos, Steamboat Springs, Colorado Springs and Boston, finally coming to settle in Austin, TX in the summer of 2007. Carrie is a rising star in the world of soulful songwriting.

Matt Hammer

Matt Hammer has been a popular and busy Alaskan entertainer since he moved here in the early “80’s.

He has written and performed in The Great Alaskan Opry, made a CD with Loren Arment called “Alaska Songs” which is still a best seller, performed with Dr Shultz and recorded “Surreal Sessions” his third CD at Kirt Reimann’s Surreal Studio. He formed the Matt Hammer Band more recently and has opened for Terry Fader of “America’s Got Talent” and many more such as Commander Cody, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Goodman, and Hoyt Axton to name a few. He is performing for the Seldovia Summer Solstice Music festival with his wife Lona.

Acoustic Banana

A group of friends and relations, some former Flaming Pastries, morphed into a new arrangement. Shimery harmonies and danceable folk rock with a few ballads in the mix. They are Lisa Jamieson, Kevin Cassity, Peter Crimp, Kippy Lanz, Mari Jamieson, and Matt Crimp.
