The Stamp Act

The Stamp Act By:} 21On February 6th 1765 George Grenville rose in parliament to offer the fifty five resolutions of his stamp bill.

A few days later, the Lords approved of his bill, on February 8th . Two weeks later the stamp act was put into use.

This is what the stamps looked like.2The stamp act is passed! On march 22, 1765 the stamp act was passed, on all of the American colonies. One reason this is so historic is that this is the first actual tax on the American colonies. Some of the taxed items were : ship papers, legal documents, licenses, news papers and even playing cards.

3This is the stamp that was made by the colonist to show what the effect of the bill did to the colonist. What this basically meant the English lords would pay.

The reason for the stamp act.

The main reason for the stamp act was to help pay for the British army. Which started the Revolutionary war. That is why the colonist hated it, they started their own army to fight the British. This meant that the colonist had to pay for the enemies army and their own. Secret printing started by the colonist which kept them from having to pay the tax.

5The stamp act continues. On and on the battles went between the British and the colonist for way to many years. The loss of thousands of casualties and other animals. The destruction of houses and farms all originated to the one bill passed by George Grenville. He was well known as a hater to man kind one who didn't love. All of this happened by a simple bill to make a tax. But the main thing that ticked off the colonist was the idea that George Grenville had to place a bill on already struggling people. Who left there homes in England and start new in America.
