TheExploratoryModeldescribesaregularschooldayexperience,withSTEM-relatedEXTRACURRICULARopportunitiesofferedtostudentsinadditiontotheregularschoolday.Theseexperiencesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto;afterschoolclubs,summerprograms,sciencefairs,roboticsclubs,videoproductionclubs,etc.

TheIntroductoryModeldescribesaregularschooldayexperience,withSTEM-relatedexperiencesofferedinadditiontothecurrentcurriculum.Theseexperiencesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto;integratedSTEMunitsdeliveredoncethestatetestingiscomplete,supplementarystand-alonelearningunitsofferedthroughindustryornon-profitpartnerships,etc.

ThePartialImmersionModeldescribesanon-traditionalschoolexperiencewhereSTEM-relatedexperiencesareintegratedintothecurriculum.Theseexperiencesmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto;teachingtoaschool-wideSTEMtheme,teachingyear-longintegratedproblem/project-basedlearningunits,teachingdual-enrollmentprograms,teachingina"schoolwithinaschool"model,etc.

TheFullImmersionModeldescribesanon-traditionalschoolexperiencewhereSTEM-relatedexperiencesdeterminetheschool’scurriculum.FullImmersionschoolslookmorelike21stCenturywork-placeenvironmentsrather20thcenturyK-12schoolenvironments.Problem-basedlearningdrivesthecurriculumandinstruction.Studentsconstantlycollaboratetosolveauthenticproblems,proposesolutions,andcontributeideastothelargercommunity.
