A special collection for the Church in Latin America will be collected on January 28,

2018. Thanks for your generosity.

Next week, we will take up the Collection for the Church in Latin America. For many in Latin America

and Caribbean, rural terrain and a lack of ministers are obstacles to practicing their faith. Your support to the collection provides lay leadership training, catechesis, priestly and religious formation, as well as other pro-grams to help share our faith with those who long to hear the Good News of Christ. To learn more, please

Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration 25th, 50th & 65 or longer

February 25th 2:00 PM St. Aloysius Church

Bishop Robert Muench will celebrate a sacrament of marriage liturgy at St. Aloysius church honoring couples

that are celebrating their 25th, 50th, 65th (or longer) wedding anniversaries during 2018. The families of the honored

couples are also invited to attend the liturgy and reception to be held afterward in the St. Aloysius activity center.

Couples interested in participating should contact Charmaine Biossat

at 766-2431, or [email protected], no later than Feb. 2nd.

All couples married more than 65 years are invited. The longest married couple in our diocese that is present at the liturgy will be

recognized and honored.

January 23: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Come spend time with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament for the healing of hearts broken by abortion and for the graces necessary to bring peace. Join in Eucharistic Adoration in St. Jude Church, 6:00-7:30 PM on January 23. Remember Jesus’ question to Peter, “Could you not keep watch with me

for one hour? (Matt 26:40)”

Memorial for the Unborn As in previous years the KCs and Respect Life ministry will place white crosses underneath the

oak tree located between the Church and parish hall. The crosses memorialize the unborn children lost to abortion since 1973. Each of the 58 crosses represents one million lives lost. This memorial aims to bring awareness to this tragedy.

KC JANUARY FAMILY OF THE MONTH The Knights of Columbus Council 9692 have named Chad and Michelle Thompson as the honorees for the January 2018 Family of the Month Award. Parishioners are invited to join Father Trey and Grand Knight Rick Graham in presenting this award at a coffee and donut reception to be held in the parish hall immediately following 8:00 Mass on Sunday, January 28th. Chad and Michelle have been parishioners since 2003. Chad has been a member of the Men’s Club and has participated in some of the service projects with the group. Chad is known by many St Jude children as “Coach Chad” as he volunteers his time to the children by coaching many sports, including basketball, middle school soccer and various recreational soccer and baseball teams. He also volunteers as an usher at mass

whenever needed. Chad and Michelle are active members of the Family Life Ministry and are fair volunteers. They are general helpers and have assisted willingly whenever we needed volunteers for miscellaneous jobs. Michelle was Committee Chair for the Cub Scouts at St. Jude for several years and assisted in scheduling and planning activities for the Pack. She is a St. Jude School volunteer and has served as an RCIA sponsor. Michelle was on the St. Jude 50th Anniversary committee, planning and participating in the celebration held last year. She constructed and painted the Tree of Life display for the original family names. Michelle is a member of the Hospitality ministry and she and Chad have assisted at many St. Jude receptions. She is in the Giving Tree ministry and made numerous deliveries this year to Catholic Charities for the families living in our area that St. Jude had sponsored. She is also a member of the Art and Environment ministry. Chad and Michelle have been blessed with three children. Christian is in the 9th grade at Catholic High, Jonathan is in the 4th grade and Neala is in the 3rd grade, both at St. Jude. Chad and Michelle’s children are already following their parent’s example by volunteering to serve. All three assisted Michelle and the Art and Environment ministry in helping to decorate the church this year for Christmas. Christian and Jonathan serve as altar servers and all three are active in the Scouts. They have volunteered with the Men’s Club Lenten fish fry, and Christian has assisted the St. Vincent de Paul Society with packaging and handing out of holiday baskets for the last few years. Congratulations to Chad and Michelle on being recognized as the recipient of the KC January Family of the Month Award. We sincerely thank them for blessing our parish with their dedicated and loyal service. The Knights of Columbus sponsor the parish Family of the Month Award aiming at recognizing a family who serves as an inspiration to parish and community life by supporting and strengthening Christ’s family. Mr. Bill Wilhelm chairs the committee.

Culture of Life Reflections “Far too prevalent in common thought is an attitude of

rejection toward people with disabilities, as if their handicap impedes them from being happy… This is proven by the

eugenic tendency to suppress the unborn who have some form of imperfection. The response to this must be one of love. Not

the false, clever and pious kind, but the one that is true, concrete and respectful.” - Pope Francis, October 2017
