Third Sunday in Ordinary Time Bellarmine Chapel
January 23, 2021 – 5PM Livestream Vigil Mass
Opening Hymn:
Gathered As One Deanna Light & Paul Tate
Many faces, the young and the old, Gathered as one in our God, Throughout history, the story retold, Gathered as one in our God…
Like those come before us, we listen and learn, We remember the promise and await your return. So without hesitation, a new generation proclaims the salvation of God!
Many pilgrims, sharing at feast, Gathered as one in our God, All are welcome the greatest and least, Gathered as one in our God… Many voices, raised up in song, Gathered as one in our God, In one family where all can belong, Gathered as one in our God… Text: Deanna Light, b.1967, and Paul A. Tate, b.1968 Tune: Deanna Light, b.1967, and Paul A. Tate, b.1968 © 1997, World Library Publications. Reprinted with permission.
Reading I: Jonah 3:1-5, 10 Psalm:
Lord, make me know your ways. Teach me your paths, and keep me in the way of your truth,
For you are God my Savior.
For the Lord is good and righteous, Revealing the way to those who wander, Gently leading the poor and the humble
To the ones who seek the Lord,
Who look to God’s word, who live God’s love, God will always be near, and will show them mercy.
Reading II: 1 Corinthians 7:29-31
Gospel: Mark 1:14-20
We Are Many And One Steve Angrisano
We are fallen but we are forgiven; broken and scattered, yet being made whole. By our redeemer, one Lord and one savior, the shepherd who gathers us all. We are diff’rent as morning and evening, each of us living as we have been called, All of us seeking, each of us reaching to the shepherd who gathers us all. We are brothers and sisters in spirit, found in all nations yet near to the Lord, Each one belonging together now longing for the shepherd who gathers us all. Memorial Acclamation
Community Prayer:
God who makes us a new creation, we count on your grace as we strive to live out the teaching and example of Jesus Christ.
As we daily commit to rooting our lives in prayer, contemplation, action, and mission, may your Holy Spirit transform us into your faithful disciples.
Nourish us at the table of the Eucharist as the Body of Christ to serve those in need, work for justice, and welcome all with love.
Continue to inspire us to become a growing community of active disciples. Amen.
Closing Hymn: Called By Christ
Text: Ruth Duck Tune: Kate Cuddy
Called by Christ, you built on the bedrock,
God who was faithful through each passing year. Spirit-led, you welcome the stranger,
Promise of new life awakening here.
Called by Christ, you offer God’s children
Food for their hunger and songs for the soul. Spirit-led, you look to the future,
Hand to your labor and eye on the goal. Called by Christ, you thirst after goodness.
Seeking God’s presence, you surely will find. Spirit-led, you plant for the harvest
Peace, love, and justice for all humankind.
