A periodical spiritual handbook, which is pre-sented in order to glorify Christ Jesus:TTTTTo praise Him, and to offer thanksgiving;TTTTTo show Him to be ALL that any true be-liever could need, or ever yearn for.”Beauty for Ashes””””” has also the aimto express the reality of the Exchanged Life:There is “Beauty”, the Lord Jesus ChristHimself, Whose Life is given for the “Ashes”of our own sin-destroyed lives;Jesus Christ, Who is Himself, the whole ofrenewal, sanctification, revival, the joy un-speakable of Christian holiness. The Life thatsatisfies the Christian, and pleases theAlmighty God is found only in Him.The wonder-filled words of Isaiah 61:3 mighthave a primary interpretation pertaining tothe restoration of Israel. However, they alsohave a delightful, awe-inspiring applicationto the Church Age Christian believer. Do youwant to exchange “Beauty” for the “Ashes”of your own fruitlessness, independence, fail-ure and striving to do better? Then cometo the One Who is All you need.

IT IS CRISIS TIME –we must treat it

as Crisiswith Crisis action...

of the sin of being prayerless, of not allowing the treasure of Christwithin to overwhelm our little selves. We are called to take partin an extension of Your Kingdom by our prayers and intercession, help us all to realize this and give our whole hearted agreementto take up our holy calling. Amen”

I want answers to prayer that will bring• LIFE to the dead,• TRUTH to the ones who are overwhelmed withSatan’s lies,• FREEDOM to the ones we love who are bound

up by the enemy of men’s souls.

I know you do too, prayer is the answer, and Jesus Christ will pray through us in

power over situationsand enemies -if we let Him.

God wants us “according to the riches of his glory, to bestrengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man, that Christmay dwell in your hearts by faith…” vv. 16-17.

What is needed in the last of the Last days of this ChurchAge is Christians ALIVE with Jesus, not just staunch in correctdoctrine, sound in their standing against the New World Orderand its inroads. The world needs Spirit-filled intercessors, men andwomen alive with spiritual power from the Lord. People given up tobe overcomers, starting firstly with overcoming the sin ofprayerlessness! Laziness, unbelief and selfishness can be the causeof lack of answers to prayer – we must deal with these as sins ifthey exist in our lives. Are we being watchmen, crying to theLord continually for the sake of the people around us and theworld at large? We know from the teaching of God’s Word thatHe will use us as a channel to pour out His blessing on the world,if we allow ourselves to become channels. The highest honourGod can give to us is to make us people whose prayers bring downthe blessing of God on the earth.

Are we “too busy” for this mighty work,or are we too lax and uncaring?

Christ lives in us, and He ever lives to pray and intercede for us all.How can we be filled with His Presence within

if we are not filled to overflowing with intercession?“…he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25.“And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there wasno intercessor…” Isaiah 59:16.

A PRAYER FOR US ALL:Dear Heavenly Father, open our eyesto the disasters and horrors all aroundus. Show us men and women, boys andgirls on their way to hell, an eternity

separated from their Creator. Open oureyes to the fact of the indwelling Christ

miraculously living within Who will fillus with His intercession if we yieldcompletely to Him. Give us all a conviction

Events are happening now so fastthat our world is looking like theBook of Revelation has burst fromthe pages of our Bible. EndtimeMinistries has been operating fornearly twenty years now, but neverhave we seen anything like this. The“Hidden Agenda” of the New Age

New World Order is coming right outin the open, it is no longer esoteric, it is exoteric. “Esoteric” meansto hide meanings and aims from the “profane” or the general publicas the occult people see us. “Exoteric” means to open the meaningsand aims to the “bugs” like ourselves, to reveal THE PLAN of theSatanists. It must soon be time in the Illuminati agenda to gopublic, and reveal their planetary power and true leaders. Despatchhas dealt with the weird uprising of the man Javier Solana – “Javier”means “Saviour” and “Solana” means the “Sun”. He is a very strongcandidate to be the ANTICHRIST, as he is the overall “tzar” of therevived Roman Empire, the EU.

TIME magazine has proclaimed Solana to be Man of theYear 2005. He is issuing headship speeches which reveal his placein the Plan, and the place of the European Union in this take-overof Satanic forces that we face.

Dear readers, we need to be praying with renewed faith, tointercede for our unsaved loved ones, to be close to Jesus and sub-missive in everything to Him. What can we do but abandon oursmall selves to the Lord, and shelter under His wings:

“How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O God! Therefore thechildren of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.”Psalm 36:7.

Our God is the Creator of the cosmos, we need fear no evil.Could we spend our time in Beauty for Ashes this quarter beholdingour God and praising our Saviour, the true Saviour of the world?

This CouldBe Crisis Time!

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 41

The Bible is about God’s exceeding great power, not about merehumans obeying out of effort and self satisfaction in their doctrines.

“the exceeding greatness of His power…according to the workingof His mighty power which He worked in Christ when he raisedHim from the dead.” Eph.1:19-20.

That “exceeding greatness of His power” that raised Christfrom death lives within each one who is a redeemed person. Pauland the disciples knew what that power was within them. Wemust pray that our eyes be opened and we understand more fullythat we can experience this mighty power which is Jesus Himselfas well, if we let Him do it all – manifest His power from within,as Christ lives instead of ourselves. How can we get there? By theCross, the old life is already dead and we must reckon it so withthe faith that God supplies to the one who is wholly abandonedto Him. We have to believe again in the Divine power of the ind-welling Christ living within us, and have done with mere human-istic correctness and cold doctrine. I have even heard Bible Chris-tians say when I commented “isn’t Jesus wonderful!” “Yes, welove the Word of God it is a miracle book!” It is indeed a miraclebook, but I do not worship and obey just a book, I love, embraceand worship a Living Being Who fills my being with Himself.Isn’t that what God was telling us in John 14:23:

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keepmy words: and my Father will love him, and we will come untohim, and make our abode with him.”

Your unsaved family members, your lost friends or neigh-bours, society at large demand that you believe in the divine powerof Jesus Christ

Who is the treasure within a vessel of clay – your ownbody? HE lives within us; do we really believe this

and know His fabulous power is there?Ephesians 3 has astonishing things to say,if we look with opened eyes:

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly aboveall that we ask or think, According to the power that worketh inus.” vv. 20-21.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 5

Considering with greater zeal how we are fitting into His greatplan of redemption? Soon, it may be sooner than we imagineright now, we may be with the Lord meeting Him in the clouds, and we will never part from Him again:“Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up togetherwith them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall weever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with thesewords.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17,18.

WHAT A FRIENDWE HAVE IN JESUS.

Jesus Christ can do what we can never do;He is in the business of doing the impossible:

“And Jesus said unto them, With men this is impossible; but withGod all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26.

We can be aware that the family member who is in an im-possible state of unrepentance and sin has made up their mindthat they will never change. We see this impossible stand off, andperhaps simply sink into an attitude of “what’s the use!” But,with God all things are possible. The disciples had been told byJesus that “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” Theywere “exceedingly amazed” and wondered how anyone could everbe saved if this were the case. Then Jesus makes the more amazingstatement that we see above. Put a different way Jesus was sayingthat not only can God thread a camel through the eye of a needle, but He can do the harder task – He can save a rich man. Theworld with its pleasures and wealth can be such a “god” in peo-ple’s lives that they see no need for the real God at all! How in-

LET US UNITE TOGETHERFULLY IN CHRIST.

The need for the Remnant Body of Christ to be spirituallyunited in Christ Jesus should be obvious. We do not need to be inthe same hall, to worship in the same place or to be involved inservice for God in a certain area together to be united spiritually. What the great falling away has done to me has robbed me of apeople who are my very own, who I can reply on and trust. Thechurches have gone away into all sorts of doctrinal errors andapostasies, they have embraced the New World Order deceptionswith fervour and this has been distressing to see. The worldlypeople and their doings have little interest for me, apart fromwanting to see them saved and at peace with God. The Christianswho have departed from the denominations have splinted in manyways, there is distrust amongst some, some are suffering from re-jection because of their stand, or they have become hard and su-per sensitive in part. We all need a breath a fresh air and a renewedfaith in the God of all wonders. We need to be filled with theHoly Spirit without imagining that this could mean some sort ofdeception – the counterfeits of the workings of the Holy Spirithave left a nasty taste in our mouths. The doctrines of the ex-treme fundamentals and legalists can solve nothing in these daysof supernatural explosions from the occult workers of iniquity! We must have the power of His might!

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power ofHis Might.” Ephesians 6:10.

We need as a Body United in Christ the fullness of His LIFE, notjust salvation from sin.The Body at the end of the Church Age must almost be complete– there are many indications that this is the case. After the Rapture, inthe Tribulation multitudes will be saved by God, but they will beTribulation saints, never the Body of Christ as the Church Age saintsare. The great privilege we have as His Body members demands thatwe reject not only the false doctrines of the fake “Pentecostal” signsand wonders crowd, but also the staunch and dry letter of the lawmovements that stress legalism and self righteousness by law-works.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter6

credibly foolish this is. Our relatives or friends who are unsavedmay be so filled with the world and selfishness that they see noth-ing they need in God. They are in the state of the rich man in theparable, even if they have no money at all. They can have a “god”they worship – money, the power it brings and hedonism. Orthey may just be so filled with the world around them that theysee nothing else! They can never get out of that trap by them-selves; we cannot get them out any more than we can thread acamel through the eye of a needle. But with God all things arepossible.

God needs INTERCESSORS, these challengingverses show how much God seeks INTERCESSORS, those

who will cry out to Him for the lost and suffering, the spiritually dead and anguished:“He saw that there was no man, and wondered that

there was no intercessor.” Isaiah 59:16.“I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they

shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mentionof the Lord, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest.” Isaiah 62:6-7.“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Thereforepray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” Matthew 9:37-38.“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, andwatching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for allsaints. ...” Ephesians 6:18.“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desiresof your heart.” Psalm 37:4.“Pray without ceasing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

These days when the word “purpose” seems to have some sort ofmystery meaning, we Bible Christians should be realizing ourgodly “CALLING” as – a Royal Priesthood. 1 Peter 2:9.

We have a calling as priests to establish a spiritual UNITYunder God, to pray together for all those who believe in Christalone and His blood alone for salvation. To pray for all who aretrue believers, that they might be bound together in global inter-cession in these perilous times. If the true Church is united in

ANDREW MURRAY.“First of all, He came to atone for sin, so that its power over manwas destroyed and free access to God’s presence and favor wassecured. With that came the fuller blessing: the new heart, freedfrom the power of sin, with God’s Holy Spirit breathing into itthe delight in God’s law and the power to obey it.These two parts of the covenant can never be separated. And yet, unfortunately, many people put their trust in Christ for theforgiveness of sin but never think of claiming the fullness of thepromise of being God’s people and knowing Him as their God.They do not allow God to bring into their experience a new heartcleansed from sin, with the holy Spirit breathing into it such loveand delight in God’s law, and such power to obey, that they haveaccess to the full blessing of the new covenant.

Jesus Christ is the Mediator of the new covenant” (Heb.9:15),in which the forgiveness of sin is in the power of His blood, and inwhich law is written in hearts by the power of His Spirit. Oh, if weonly could understand that, just as surely as the complete pardon ofsin is assured, so the complete fulfillment of the promises may beexpected, too: I will put my fear in their hearts so that they will notdepart from Me (Jer.32:40); I will…cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep my judgments” (Ezek.36:27).

But God has said, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?” (Jer. 32:27). He spoke these wordsto Jeremiah in regard to the new covenant. The new covenantrequires strong, wholehearted desire for a life wholly given up toGod. It means we must set aside all our preconceived opinions, andin faith believe in the mighty power of God. It means a surrenderto Jesus Christ as “the Mediator of the new covenant” (Heb. 9:15), awillingness to accept our place with Him, crucified to the world, tosin, and to self. It means a readiness to follow Him at any cost.Succinctly, the new covenant means a simple, wholeheartedacceptance of Christ as Lord and Master – heart and life whollyHis, God has said it and will do it. “I, the Lord, have spoken, andwill do it” (Ezek.22:14). In God’s Best Secrets p.128.

Spirit we can yet see wonders and break-throughs for the lost. Wecan yet see a Spirit-unity that will bring Jesus Christ in deeperand stronger manifestation through His Blood-bought people.

There is nothing greater than our calling as priests of God,Christ ever lives to intercede, and if we will abandon ourselves toHim, He will make us into His likeness so closely that we willever live to intercede too.

Are you willing for this marvelous adventure with Him?Are you willing to be drawn deeper and deeper

into the heart of Jesus?

WHAT ARE WE LOSING?How many of us have really experienced the Holy Spirit using usin prayer without ceasing? How much we are losing by not beingtotally surrendered to the Lord for the mighty work of prayer canonly be properly gauged in eternity. Every one of us has a specificarea of ministry, people God has given into our sphere of influ-ence, churches and fellowships we belong to, homes nearby wherethe unsaved live, acquaintances that need help and spiritual light, and families to whom we belong. No one but ourselves has ex-actly the same groups of people and concerns; we are unique inour situation. If we do not fulfill the service and prayer that weare individually called to by the Lord, then there is no one elsethat can take up the slack. Prayer as directed by God is vital forevery situation we face. Eternity hangs in the balance. Lives arebeing destroyed by Satan. God is waiting for YOU to take yourfull part in His redemption plan for your loved ones, your com-munity and His world. This quote from Andrew Murray should inspire us all:

“God regards intercession as the highest expression of His people’sreadiness to receive and to yield themselves wholly to the workingof His almighty power. Christians need to realize this as their truenobility and their only power with God – the right to claim andexpect that God will hear prayer. Only as God’s children begin tosee what intercession means in regard to God’s kingdom will theyrealize how solemn their responsibility is.” (God’s Best Secrets. p.50).

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter38

dead, and buried with Christ, but since this was accomplishedtwo thousand years ago, the reference is to a divine judgmentagainst the nature which was gained by Christ when He ‘diedunto sin.’ There is no bible teaching to the effect that someChristians have died to sin and some have not. The passages includeall saved persons (Gal.5:24; Col.3:3). All believers have died untosin in Christ’s death, but not all believers have claimed the richeswhich were provided for them by that death. We are not asked todie experimentally, or to enact His death; we are asked to ‘reckon’ourselves to be dead indeed unto sin. This is the humanresponsibility (Rom. 6:1-14).Every victory over sin is itself a separation unto God and is thereforea sanctification. Such victory should ever be increasing as thebeliever comes to know his own helplessness and the marvels ofdivine power.” In Major Bible Themes. p.p. 208-209.

WILLIAM LAW.“Redemption is entirely an inward, spiritual work. It works byaltering, changing, and regenerating the life of the soul, bringingforth a spiritual death of the old and a spiritual birth of the new. Thus, no one can know or believe the mysteries of Christ’s redeemingpower without inwardly finding and experiencing the operation ofthose mysteries by the new death and the new life, both of whichmust be brought about in the soul of man. Otherwise, Christ cannotbe found and known by the soul as its salvation.

Our salvation is in the life of Jesus Christ in us. This truth oftruths, fully possessed and firmly adhered to, turns the whole faithof man to a Christ who can be a Savior to him only in the innermostpart of his being. It is not possible for Christ to be born within manby any other means than the direct inspiration and working powerof the Holy Spirit.”

On this Andrew Murray comments:“We need to remember that the great work of the Holy Spirit is toreveal Christ in us, not as a matter of knowledge in the mind, butin the heart, communicating to us the death and life of our Lord.In this way, Christ is formed in us, lives in us, and works in us allthat is pleasing to the Father. Take time to yield yourself to thisblessed truth; in it lies the true secret of the Christian life.” In God’s Bests Secrets p. 271.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter8

I want to share with you a personal story of a miracle thathappened only days ago. I hesitate to write about it in a way, because the young woman involved would recognize herself if sheread this report. If she does read this, then I would say to herdon’t be embarrassed beloved of God, there isn’t any name andno one knows your identity. I am writing about this to encouragethe readers in prayer, our God can do anything; all things arepossible with Him.

She is a very pretty blond young woman, with a baby and atoddler. She was once a drug addict, but has been saved by theLord, and yet she had slipped back into abusing substances again, this time with alcohol. The situation with her husband and chil-dren was at crisis stage. Prayer and help was being given, the poorChristian husband was at his wits end. She was hiding alcohol, sneaking out to buy it, using money intended for food to get abottle. She had gotten so bad she was like a wild animal; the de-mon drink controlled her poor body as though she was possessedwith the devil. She would cut herself with a knife, rip off pieces ofskin from her arms, leaving bloody raw areas. We had a specialprayer meeting for her, just three of us, and others were adding tothis prayer from afar. That afternoon we went home, passing thehouse of the family as we drove, and all seemed quiet. We gothome and prepared dinner. Then the ‘phone rang, it was her hus-band, his wife had become so dangerous to the children and un-controllable that he had taken the car keys and her money, andhad pushed her out onto the driveway, and had locked the door.He talked of divorce, we could see no way to continue unless shewas locked up somewhere for her own good and everyone else’ssafety. He talked of seeking custody of the baby and asked for oursupport. It was crisis beyond crisis. I prayed that night with utterweakness, and cried to the only answer, GOD – if He didn’t dosomething nothing could be done to save this girl and her familyfrom total tragedy.

We went around to their house the next afternoon, expect-ing a ghastly scene, we were only being held up ourselves by theAlmighty, yet we trusted and depended only on Him.

When we went in the house was in lovely order, the baby

struggle against the old nature to overcome it. It is DEAD. Be will-ing to be free of ALL sin in your life, and be willing to leave foreverthe world, the flesh and the devil, and everything that this means, andGod will reveal to you that you are already dead. He will not do thisuntil you mean business with Him about ALL of sin and self beingrejected and abandoned. This is not head-knowledge remember, it isglorious reality in God.

JESSIE PENN-LEWIS:“He opened not His mouth.” (Isaiah 53:7).‘I will dwell in them and walk in them’ (2 Corinthians 6:16) is thepromise of God, and only as this promise is fulfilled to the believer, can the ‘Silence of Jesus’ be known in the daily life. As we trace outthe pattern of the walk of Christ on earth that we may ‘follow Hissteps’, let us remember that it is not that we may copy Him, ratherthat we have before us the pattern of the way, ‘the life of Jesus’ willbe manifested in our mortal body, as He ‘walks’ in us, and weintelligently yield ourselves to Him to work in us to will and to doof His good pleasure.” In Fruitful Living, p.63.

REV. C.G. MOORE.“But then it is that He who maketh alive begins to clothe us….Inthe midst of the trying experiences of death, we are conscious that astrange new life is slowly becoming ours. What that new life is, itwould be very difficult to describe to those who know it not. TheApostle’s words shall suffice: ‘To me to live is Christ.’…In a sensenever dreamt of before probably, ‘all things are ours’; and, inblessedness beyond telling, we ‘bring forth fruit unto God – notunto self.” In Things Which Cannot be Shaken.

LEWIS SPERRY-CHAFER. “The divine prevention of sin is imperative in the case of everychild of God, since as long as he is in the body he retains a fallennature which is ever prone to sin (Rom.7:21; 2 Cor. 4:7; 1 John1:8). Scripture promises no eradication of this nature, but there is amoment-by-moment victory promised through the power of theSpirit (Gal.5:16-23). This victory will be realized just as long as it isclaimed by faith and the conditions for a Spirit-filled life are met.The sin nature itself is never said to have died. It was crucified,

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 9

was chirping happily on the floor with his mobile, the father greetedus with shining eyes, “we have had at least three Bible studies today,“he said. The young woman was in her right mind, smiling and so-ber, looking delightedly at her husband. I sat on her bed with her andshe was repentant (never had been before, not really), submissive tohusband’s control (so needed, but she would never yield before),longing to obey God and at last willing to say “no” to the booze forever, wanting to live one day at a time in complete sobriety. She wasmiraculously clean of the demon of drink! Just like that! She hasbeen, at the time of this writing, sober for a whole fortnight, unheardof. Praise the Lord, He can do anything, anything. We must continueto uphold her, diligently, before the Throne of Grace; Satan is a crueland jealous tyrant. We all must pray sacrificially for our loved onesand the unsaved, fasting if we are led to do so. We must drop otherthings to do this, time is slipping by so fast, soon it will be too late forsome of those we love.

We are losing loved ones to the enemy, precious experience ofthe power of God, a oneness in purpose with God and all that thatfellowship can mean, and a life of victory on behalf of others thatcan never be won back. Maybe you have prayed each day, taken tenminutes or so, maybe you have been more diligent than that – but, tobecome an ever open channel through whose prayers the Almightycan bring down His riches of Grace upon the earth is the highestprivilege ever bestowed on mankind.Dear Lord, open our ears and our hearts to Your Holy influencein this matter of intercession.

THE EARTH, HE HAS GIVENTO THE CHILDREN OF MEN.

“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth he hasgiven to the children of men.” Psalm 115:16.

We can wonder why God does not just bless and save peo-ple Himself, and why He requires His people to pray before Hewill act. The verse above gives us some clues about this mystery.God gave into the hands of men the dominion over the earth He

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter36

Because it is such a hope for us,shouldn’t it be a time when we will have embraced

All that Christ offers us,to His glory and to the satisfaction

of the loving heart of God the Father?Note in the following passage how the exhortation to being madeholy by the indwelling Christ is aligned with the revelation aboutthe Rapture in chapter 1Thessalonians 4:13-18:

“To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holinessbefore God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christwill all his saints. Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, andexhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how yeought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more andmore. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the LordJesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification…”(1Thessalonians 3:13 – 4:3).

The only way we can walk worthy of God is by embracingthe death of the Cross and allowing the Life of Christ to fill us:

“That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto hiskingdom and glory.” 1 Thess. 2:12.

SOME AUTHORS OF RENOWN.Authors of other days have given such wondrous insight

into the exchanged life – Christ Jesus living instead of us - that weshould delight in the instruction of some of these saints. I havegiven you a selection of author’s quotes that you might revel intheir teachings on the resurrection life lived out through Christ’sredeemed ones.

The only way we are going to be pleasing in any way to theHeavenly Father before the Rapture is if we allow Him to stopthe civil war going on inside us! The old nature has been warringagainst the New Man long enough – we must get the full messageof the Cross. On that Cross Jesus died to take the punishment forthe sin of the world, but He also took the old man, the old Adamlife to the death as well. We died in Him on the Cross of Calvarytwo thousand years ago. The Lord will reveal this to you person-ally that this has already happened, and that you do not have to

had created. Even though mankind has fallen into sin and rebellion, that dominion is still there. It is our world to live on and care for, what the earth is today it owes to mankind. We have planes and shipscrossing between nations over the vast seas, we have cities and powerstations, electricity, television, internet, men mined coal and found oil,men have made fantastic discoveries on this planet. But, man wasmade originally to have a partnership with the Creator; we were tobe part of working with God to bring about His desired end for theearth and its inhabitants. We humans have become foul and are in theprocess of destroying this planet. This has happened because of theFall in the Garden of Eden.

In the spiritual world God works through the dominion ofman. God has revealed in His Word the plan of redemption andwe have responded to it, you and I. We are no longer in rebellionagainst the Creator; we have come in safe and sound under Hisprotection. He has shown us in His Word that He has mightypower in Heaven, and He is willing to pour out blessings uponthe race of man. But, He has delegated to His people the ministryof witnessing to these blessings and of actually making peopleparticipants in His riches of Grace. We do this great work in part-nership with God at its highest level when we intercede, or prayfor others. The trouble is Satan can make us so worldly that prayercan seem “airy fairy” and self-action can seem “doing something”about wrongs and troubles! We have to see the reality of the powercoming from God in response to faith and trust in Him and Hispromises in the Bible. Don’t let prayer become a legalistic andeven boring necessity that is engaged in as a duty that can seem tobear little fruit. Be honest about what prayer appears to be toyourself, and let God open up the thrilling realities, new and vi-tal. I want so much to move into a realm of answered prayer be-yond anything I have ever seen before – come there with me, let’sbe united in prayer.

If I wrote to some of the Christians I know that there wasmoney to be made by simple investment that was guaranteed andcould not fail. If I told them that this was no confidence game buta real opportunity to make big money - they would rush to find

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.(4:7)He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, whohath also given unto us his holy Spirit. (4:8)But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you:for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another. (4:9)And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in allMacedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase moreand more; (4:10)And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and towork with your own hands, as we commanded you; (4:11)That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, andthat ye may have lack of nothing. (4:12)But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerningthem which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others whichhave no hope. (4:13)For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them alsowhich sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. (4:14)For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which arealive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not preventthem which are asleep. (4:15)For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, withthe voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and thedead in Christ shall rise first: (4:16)”

3. The Rapture is a deliverance from the wrath that is to comeon the earth because of sin and the rejection of the Saviour. We donot want to be found rejecting the fullness of the Saviour in any way.He has given us His assurance that He will save us to the utter-most – let Him.

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that comeunto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession forthem.” Hebrews 7:25.

4. The Rapture is a HOPE in many ways:It is a comforting hope (John 14:1-3; 1 Thess. 4:18);It is a purifying hope (1 John 3:1-3);It is a blessed and happy expectation (Titus 2:13).

out more. Mankind has given their lives for the gold that is buried inthe ground. Men will sacrifice so much to get material benefits in aworldly sense. Won’t we sacrifice and work for the hidden riches inHeaven, waiting there to be mined with God? God wants us to cryto Him that His kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven, and to dothis for individuals and the world in general:

“Our Father, which art in heaven,Hallowed be thy name.Thy kingdom come.Thy will be done,In earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:9.

HOW DOWE LEARNTO TRULY

INTERCEDE?The answer to the question must be

a living one, a reality in a relationshiptogether with the Indwelling Christ. We

can read books of instruction in prayer, but to live with Christ as ourLife we must depend utterly on Him, and be abandoned to Him inthe very same way as we trust Him for righteousness in Life. We“reckon ourselves dead” that He might be all. Any self reliance orpride in self in any way must be confessed and dealt with by theBlood. Any ideas we might have that we are spiritual people, that wecan pray the right way and get answers, or that we are mature, de-voted, we know the Word of God and can quote it, that we under-stand prayer correctly so we can get answers – all that has to go, andwe must stand empty before Him. We must be as nothing, for that iswhat we really are; we have to accept the truth. He will teach us toenter into deep prayer with Him, and through Him. Let Him makeyou humble and contrite, see yourself as already dead on the Crosswith Him, let Him intercede through you. Learn what the crucifiedlife lived out in prayer really is, by letting Jesus teach you step-by-step.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter34

WHY WE SHOULDBE “DEAD” INDEED.

The Bible makes it clear that we neednot live unto the Old Nature, but that we havealready died to it on the Cross. It is most im-portant that we at last accept and embrace thisNew Creation, which is Christ alive in us.

Why is it so important to do thisfully in God’s enabling as we see thatday approaching when Christ will call

us to Himself to meet Him in the

clouds?

Perhaps we should list some of the reasons forthis “death” of the self at this time:I Thessalonians 41. Christ is coming to this earth to take His saints home to bewith Him in heaven. He wants nothing of this earth left in us, as werise to meet Him in the air. If you don’t yield here, you will have todo so with shame at the Judgement Seat of Christ. Don’t be ashamedbefore Him!2. Living Saints are translated at the Rapture, you will go as youare when He calls you up and the trumpet sounds. God wantsyou to meet Jesus in the air in a sanctified condition. Note thelead up to the Rapture verses, with exhortations to being filledwith the holiness of Christ Jesus as you wait for Him:

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye shouldabstain from fornication: (4:3)That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel insanctification and honour; (4:4)Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which knownot God: (4:5)That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter:because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also haveforewarned you and testified. (4:6)

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter12

Ask the Lord to open the reality of these words below to you:“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that thebody of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should notsin….For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are notunder law, but under grace.” Romans 6: 6 & 14.“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”

1 Thessalonians 5: 24.Christ Jesus lives within us through the Holy Spirit, He as

the Second Person of the Trinity is seated at the right hand ofGod in Heaven. Through out His life on earth He lived to inter-cede for His disciples and the people of earth. He has made thrill-ing promises that we can be with Him in His intercession minis-try which He continues on in glory. He wants to save us to theuttermost so that we can join Him in His great ministry of prayer:

“Wherefore he is able to save them to the uttermost that come untoGod by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25.

If we will but unite with Him, and each other, to pray forthe lost and for the True Church members, then God will yetshow His almighty hand of power. We are seeing the last of theLast Days for the Church Age, but it is not over yet, don’t hangup your sword!

Jesus Christ had a last farewell communication with HisChurch, in it He repeated seven times the guarantee that He woulddo what we asked. The number seven is the perfect number; Hewill surely answer our prayers. The power of Heaven is there foryou and for me, waiting for us to ask and come in Jesus’ Namealone. To come in His Name, must mean more than just tackingonto the end of a prayer, “in Jesus Christ’s Name we pray, Amen.”It must mean coming in the crucified life, empty of the old lifeand “reckoning” that old man dead, and letting the indwellingChrist come in His authority alone, through us, to unite with Hisintercession on the right hand of God – In His Name or author-ity alone to encounter the Almighty Father on the Throne. Itmust mean that we, in ourselves, have nothing to offer beforeGod’s Throne, we have only the indwelling Christ and His posi-tion in the heavenly realms to bring before the Ruler of the universe.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 33

But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. (3:8)Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old manwith his deeds; (3:9)And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledgeafter the image of him that created him: (3:10)”

God wants us to be sanctified wholly in preparation for thecoming of the Lord Jesus Christ. Only He can do that for usthrough the indwelling Christ Who is our life:

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly, and I pray Godyour whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless untothe coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thess. 5:23).

God wants us to yield to the death that is already ours; wedied with Him on the Cross to the old creation. We are to “abide”in Him, yield utterly to the new creation within us as we see thatcoming of the Lord drawing nearer, 1 John 2:28m- 3:3:“And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear,we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at hiscoming. (2:28)If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doethrighteousness is born of him. (2:29)Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knowethus not, because it knew him not. (3:1)Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appearwhat we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shallbe like him; for we shall see him as he is. (3:2)And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, evenas he is pure. (3:3)”

Because God has appointed us to salvation, let Christ saveyou to the uttermost right now, in preparation for the coming ofour Lord to take us in the Rapture. Live together with Him rightnow:

“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvationby our Lord Jesus Christ. Who died for us, that, whether we wakeor sleep. We should live together with him.” 1 Thess. 5:9,10.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 13

See only some of the promises to answer prayer that Christ ourLiving Head has left us:

“And all things, whasoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, yeshall receive.” Matt. 21:22.“If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14.“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what yewill, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7.“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit shouldremain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, hemay give it you.” John 15:16.“Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name, ask, and ye shallreceive, that your joy may be full.” John 16:24.

WE ARE NOT ORDINARY PEOPLE!Maybe you have a picture of yourself as rather an ordinary

person, living an average life. You are not rich or famous; youhave not invented penicillin or written a novel that has sold mil-lions of copies. That might be so, but no Christian is just an ordi-nary Joe (or Jo). You and I are people who have a treasure depos-ited within us in the earthen vessels of our bodies. We have beengiven this treasure as a free gift because we were sorry for ourrebellion against God and wanted to be reconciled to Him. Whatdoes the Bible tell us about this?

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency ofthe power may be of God, and not of us.” 11 Corinthians 4:7.

This treasure is the new creation which is Christ Jesus ind-welling us. We have been told many of us, that this treasure of thenew life is constantly fighting with the “old man”, the old crea-tion nature within us, we were told it will always be a civil warwithin until we get new bodies and become immortal. We havebeen told that we must just soldier on and discipline ourselves, put down the old nature resolutely; it is a fight for all of our lives.NO, this is what has been missing from the Christian Gospel, right there. Just as the Cross defeated sin and Christ took ourpunishment for sin and we are free from it because of the Cross,so too we can be free from the power of the old nature. We do not

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter32

Is all this relevant? I believe so, for it is to do with my entiresanctification by yielding my whole heart to do God’s will. God willdo exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, ac-cording to the power that worketh in us. (Ephesians 3:20). Hewill deal with the whole person, the whole situation, all my relation-ships, all of my life concerns and my service. HE will handle all thesethings – and He is victorious already.

MORTIFY YOUR MEMBERS.The time for the Return of the Lord grows closer with each

day. This being the case we should especially take note of what God’sWord tells us is imperative for our walk with Him in these specialdays. Looking up the various references to the imminent Return Iwas struck with the mention of DEATH to do with LIFE in Christas that day approaches. It is as though God was instructing His peo-ple to realize with all their hearts that the Old Man, the old creation, died on the Cross with Jesus Christ. That they should reckon this tobe the case, and make no provision for the failures and sins of theOld Man or “flesh” at all, especially as they see the Blessed Return justaround the bend. This appears to me to be the most important thingwe should enter into at this stage of history, this Endtime period.Notice that the Bible says that because Jesus Christ is returning, whois our life, we must “mortify” or enter the death of the Cross inregard to the Old Man. As if it were the obvious preparation for theReturn of Christ with Whom we share our life.

Can we look carefully at some of these references?“For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (3:3)When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appearwith him in glory. (3:4)Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth;fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: (3:5)For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children ofdisobedience: (3:6)In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.(3:7)

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter14

have to fight the old nature, Jesus has done it all for us. The HolySpirit will reveal to you that the old nature is already dead, if youare wholly repentant and want wholeheartedly to be free fromthe old man, all sin, the world and the devil’s influence. Your oldnature died on the Cross with Jesus, you do not have to fight itand struggle against it any more, if you want with everything inyou to move into this realm of wonder:

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that thebody of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not servesin.” Romans 6:6.

Let’s look carefully at this familiar passage and ask the HolySpirit for a full revelation on the matter. Forget how familiar theverses are to you; let God show them to you with freshness andlife:

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that likeas Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 6:4.“For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death,we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:” Romans 6:5.

The old man is already dead with Christ, you do not haveto yield to it, just reckon it dead:

“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, butalive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:11.

If you want this with all your heart, God will supernaturallyreveal that you are dead to sin, and you will be free to be filled withthe treasure which is Christ Jesus in you:

“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the gloryof this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, thehope of glory:” Colossians 1:27.

We are not ordinary people, we have the treasure of Christwithin us, and we must be rid of the old man or nature, so thatHe can fill us. THE CROSS has done this marvelous work al-ready, let us enter in and claim our wondrous inheritance. We aresanctified by Grace through faith, not by struggle under Law-works:

“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, andfrom the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 31

You cannot be made holy, sanctified, saved to the uttermost, unlessyou love and want HIM, He loves you and wants you to be His ownevery minute of the day.

You say, “but I can’t do that, I don’t know how to?.”You don’t have to know how, you only have to be serious, truth-ful with yourself and God, and want Him with all your heart. Heknows when you are spot-on serious, when you mean with yourentire heart that you want to be saved from every sin all the time.I want to share with you an experience I have had in growing inGrace. You can never grow into Grace, but we continue to grow inGrace as we walk with Him, trusting Him. I counseled a ladyabout her drinking problems and God saved her from alcohol. One discussion we had was on the moment-by-moment walk withHim, about being ready to say “yes” to God in the instant ofbeing alive. No use saying “I will quit drinking tomorrow, but Ican have just a little drink today.” When she meant it with all her heart, that in that instant of living she would say “yes” to God and “no” todrink she was delivered by the Lord. He knew her heart and hersincerity.

I considered this before God myself, I was filled with joyand peace all the time in God, but I am “round” in body becauseI eat too many sweet things, I have a sweet tooth. This is not agood body image for a Christian; surely I could be delivered fromthis just as my dear friend had been delivered from drinking? So,I applied my own advice to myself. I said to God that I would noteat anything fattening, just obeying in the one moment I have tobe alive – just the little minute of now. I would move through theday, living one day at a time, go to my bed at night and have a nicerest, then awake to live one day at a time, one moment at a time –and say “yes” to God in the only minute I have to live NOW. Iwould say “I can’t do this, You do it for me”. Has it worked? In-deed it has, I have not eaten “bad” things again since that time ofcommitment. Hey, I might even be slim one day soon. I expect tobe, with no effort from me at all. Next Beauty for Ashes I will letyou know what has happened to my “round” body. I was beginningto say, “Mirror, mirror on the wall, I’m my mother after all!”

forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which aresanctified by faith that is in me.” Acts 26:18.

The Bible calls the old nature “the flesh” or old man. We cannever be righteous by walking by the struggles of the flesh, GODwill do it all for us when we agree for Christ to fill us through theHoly Spirit:

“That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, whowalk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:4.

God promised in the Old Testament that hewould create righteous beings for His glory.Note that God will cause you to walk in right-eousness; He will make you able to keep Hisjudgements:

“And I will put my spirit within you, and causeyou to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep myjudgments, and do them.” Ezekiel 36:27.

He will save you to the uttermost if you wantto be saved from ALL sin:

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to theuttermost that come unto God by him, seeinghe ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25.

WE ARE A PART OFTHE GREAT FALLING AWAY!

Galatians 2: 17-3:10.“I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by thelaw, then Christ is dead in vain.” Galatians 2:21.

The whole Body of Christ is hurting! All of us are witness-ing the “great falling away” of 11 Thessalonians 2:3, when theTrue Church will become heretical in part, and Christendom it-self will join in with the Antichrist One World religion. You maynot realize that you are suffering spiritually because of the fallingaway of the Body of Christ.

It only stands to reason when one thinks of it. We are anorganic whole with the Body; we cannot see this departure from

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter30

to be made righteous through Christ for His triumph alone. The God of peace, you will see in 1 Thess.5:23-24, promises

to “sanctify you wholly.” Christ is our sanctification alone; it is Godthat must do the work. Sanctification means basically to “put asidefor holy purposes only”, or to bring the person back to a properposition before the Creator, one of oneness and personal fellowshipwith Him. Be ye holy for I am holy says God. We have peace withGod through the Blood of Christ, now we must accept holiness orsanctification through the resurrected life within us. It is our reason-able service; it is unthinkable that we should shrink from going rightto the uttermost. Andrew Murray has said this:

“Should not all of us rejoice with exceeding joy at the prospect? But it is as if the promise is too great for many of us, and so it isrepeated and amplified. May your spirit (the inmost part of yourbeing, created for fellowship with God), your soul (the seat of thelife and all its powers), and your body (through which sin enteredand in which sin proved its power even in death, but which hasbeen redeemed in Christ) – may these be preserved whole, withoutblame, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ …” (End of quote from God’s Best Secrets, page 143).

Holiness, sanctification, is a gift from God, He will fill youwith Christ and His holiness in an instant, if you are fully yieldedand want to be saved from ALL sin, the world, the flesh and thedevil. Does He keep me from all sin? Yes, He does, it is so easyand joyous, He said He would and He does. I am a sinner throughand through, yet the power of the Christ life within me saves mefrom the power of sin, I am already dead to the old Adam life, Ireckon my old life dead on the Cross – it has no more dominionover me because of the might of Jesus Christ living His life outthrough me. Is any of this to my personal glory? No, for I amtotally helpless and the Lord does it all. “Faithful is he that callethyou, who also will do it.” He wants you to come to Him as anempty vessel that He can abide in you in His fullness every day,not as an “impersonal “force” but as your Personal Friend andbeloved Master.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter16

the faith without being in grief. It is as though the little toe on theBody is hurting, and the whole Body suffers. Or, in this case, asthough the large and important parts of the Body are in spiritualpain, and the little toe is suffering too. I am a little toe, and I amhurting along with the apostasy of the true born-again ones whoare moving blindly with the huge moves of Satan within the de-nominations. Alpha, the false prophets and apostles, the PurposeDriven Church, the political movement aligning itself with theVatican, the New Age indoctrination going on in almost everydenomination and “Christian” college and organization, the Na-tional Council of Churches with ecumenism and syncretism etc.

I know that I have been deeply affected by the Falling Awayoccurring. It seemed at first that I was embarrassed because I wasseeing my own people, the Church, being hood-winked and ridi-culed no doubt by the globalists behind the scenes. I knew I wasnot reacting to the state of the world or society in this depth, andwas not moved as deeply by the plight of Christendom, meaningthe humanistic and socialist churches and the Roman CatholicChurch, the Church of England and so on. It was the True invis-ible unity of born-again believers who are falling away into disas-ter that has moved my soul! I took it to the Lord and He showedme Daniel 9:3-19 and 9: 20-27. I saw that I feel a part of the fallingaway, because my people have fallen, I have always been a part ofthem, then I have failed also within the context of my identifica-tion with them. So have you, dear brother or sister in Christ.

WE ARE MORE THAN INDIVIDUALS, WE HAVECORPORATELY FAILED as a part of a FAILED CHURCH!Daniel repented with and for his nation Israel; shouldn’t werepent for the SIN and FAILURE of our spiritual nation, THECHURCH?

If we had all allowed Christ to live instead of ourselves, would the Church have fallen away? No, we would not have.

For Christ Jesus would have never let any of us depart into apos-tasy, He would have led us into all truth. None of us would havedeparted into the desire to have large and influential churches, with great church growth and the power and glory it brings theleaders, for the humility and self-offering of Christ the Servant

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 29

“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for mewith all your heart.” Jer. 29:13.

BE SANCTIFIED WHOLLY.Here we sit you and me at the end almost certainly of

the Church Age. I am filled with a mixture of responses, grief, sorrow, elation at what God will do, empathy with those whohave fallen into error, anger at what they have done, and a longingto be wholly sanctified for the Precious Lord’s sake. He has shownus His inconceivable plans for the Church as a whole, and just asmind-boggling desires, for individuals. You would imagine that allover the place, around the world, the Remnant Church would beclaiming with adoration the promises of God to do with wholesanctification by Grace, yet there are very few who even care aboutthese promises, even amongst the usually sound and solid believ-ers. I believe that we are right now called, above all else, to submitto God’s entire sanctification as we see the Coming of the LordJesus drawing nigh. That is what the Bible says, I believe it:

“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray Godyour whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless untothe coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you,who also will do it.” 1 Thess. 5:23-24.

I am not talking about the heretical teachings of only the“spotless” being Raptured. We are spotless in Christ Jesuspositionally if we are saved people. All the Body of Christ will goin the Rapture, we are a whole Body. I am considering before youthe fact that Jesus Christ deserves our honour of Him, He is Holyand we should be made holy by God Himself so that we can meetthe Lord in the air with purity and suitable veneration. It is amatter of reverence and devotion that we submit to this, the great-est of the blessings of God Almighty towards His redeemed ones.We have a freewill, He will not force upon us what we must seekand long for ourselves. Yes, the FULL completion of sanctifica-tion will be in glory, but many have never even ceased from theirown labours and struggles at all, they are still unaware that righteous-ness and holiness is a gift, they must abandon themselves to the Lord

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 17

and Deliverer would have filled the denominations, and ambitionand greed would have been far from the True Church. Yes, Godforeknew and showed us that the falling away would happen, thatdoes not mean He caused it. He had foreknowledge but He didnot make it happen. It is like Israel at the end of the Dispensationof Law, they rejected Christ Jesus as Messiah in the majority. Godknew this would happen, He has foreknowledge of all things, butHe did not make them reject Christ as Messiah.

Our churches have been preaching only half a Gospel formany years, justification by Grace, but sanctification by effortand works, aided by the Lord Jesus when we let Him. No, this isnot the entire Gospel message – all of the Christian Life is aboutBiblical GRACE through faith, the glorious message of the cruci-fied life which we share.

Christ did not just die for our sin, we died with Him, weare to live the crucified life not just accept His death for our sinand punishment:

“I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christliveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by thefaith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”Galatians 2:20.“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should notobey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidentlyset forth, crucified among you?” 3:1.

Daniel in his day was ashamed and grieved at the horror ofIsrael departing into unbelief and paganism, of the destruction ofa fallen and apostate nation. The book of Daniel was writtenduring the Exile, or the period when the Jews of the Judeankingdom were displaced from their country. The Temple, thecapital city and the commonwealth had been destroyed byNebuchadnezzar. Firstly, Daniel had been carried off as a captivealong with his three associates (Daniel 1:1-6). Later, 597 B.C., onanother expedition to Palestine, Nebuchadnezzar made Jerusa-lem submit again and carried off 10,000 captives, among themwas king Jehoiachin and the young prophet Ezekiel (Ezek.1:1-3;cf. 11 Chron. 36:10; 11 Kings 24:8-20). In 587 B.C., after a longsiege, Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the city and the Temple – and

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter28

repented and thrown herself entirely on God for salvation. She hadhead knowledge only.

Also the message of the crucified life can be understood, can be grasped with the brain, but may never have become a real-ity at all. IT IS A REAL encounter with Jesus Christ; it is cominginto vital contact with the indwelling Christ Jesus as our entirelife. This was what we should have known and lived all along –because the Church has not done so, we have rejected Christ asTHE LIFE and THE HOLINESS of the members of the Body.Seek the reality with all your hearts now, Jesus Christ wants theold man reckoned dead, and the new life flowing through you toa lost world in chaos. It is legalism indeed when anyone thinks intheir heart that this message of the indwelling Christ filling thebeliever and living His life through them is not necessary. That itis all rather “mystical” and “emotional” and not for yourself –after all you have to live in the real world, go out to work, get onwith the job of church fellowship and service, do the garden andclean the house and car. You haven’t got time for these cloisteredideas. If you are thinking like that, you are rejecting Christ Jesusas blatantly as those who want to work for their own salvation bygoing to church. You want to work for what Christ wants to givefreely. You are depending on yourself, not on Him.

This is rejection of Christ as your Life, you might knowHim as your Saviour but is He your fullness of LIFE?

If you reject this, it is rejection of God’s call to come back to thedependence upon Him that Adam had in the Garden before theFall. It is the rejection of what is the whole purpose of why youwere saved in the first place! God saved us to show His glorythrough us, to bring us back to our place of being vessels throughwhich He would manifest Himself. Does he care about little ol’you or little ol’ me being filled with Christ’s Life? Let His Wordtell you. He does care, He wants your whole-hearted agreementto let the old life-nature go utterly, and embrace the new life whichis Christ Jesus within:

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the wholeearth,, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart isperfect toward him.” 11 Chron. 16:9.

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter18

the entire Jewish community was broken up.If we compare 1 Kings 8:47 with Daniel 9:5 we will see that

the Jews had “sinned and done perversely” and had “committedwickedness.” Daniel identified with his people so closely that he de-clared that “WE” have sinned and it is “US” who have fallen. Shouldn’twe members of the Body of Christ also take corporate responsibil-ity and repent before the Lord? Daniel was pointing the finger at hispeople, he saw himself as a part of his people’s fall into apostasy andwickedness. I am seeing that all of us must confess and be grievedfor this, not just say “they” have sinned against the Lord – we are allOne Body, we are in it together!

CAN WE USE DANIEL’S MODEL PRAYERFOR OURSELVES IN THIS PERIOD?

I have given an outline of the main points of his prayer and followedup with a suggestion for the prayer to be used by the members ofthe Body of Christ in our day. I have prayed this prayer myself, andso have some of the members of our Home Fellowship, followingDaniel’s example. I feel much better before God for this, and less

grieved. Praise His Name.

Read the prayer in Daniel 9:3–19.1. A prayer presented to God in the sameyear that Daniel was cast into the Lion’sDen.2. Surely this prayer prepared him withstrength and spiritual power to face the Li-on’s Den?3. A prayer given at the time of the EveningOblation (3 Pm). Verse 21.4. Daniel prepared himself with fasting andhe put on sackcloth and ashes as a penance.5. The prayer is a model of CONFESSION,SUPPLICATION and INTERCESSION.6. He identifies so completely, this man ofGod, that he uses the words US and WE, not “them.” CONFESSION verses 4-15.

SUPPLICATION verses 16-19.

rather like the buzz people get from a lavish shopping complex. SELFcan find friends, be chosen for “service” that is pleasing to the ego,and be part of a “successful” movement that is pleasant and satisfy-ing to the flesh.

“the lust of the eyes” isn’t this lust from the world what makesa church-goer see and desire the glory of the world, the same glorythat a film star enjoys. The same hope of recognition, fame and money.

“and the pride of life” or self-exaltation. SELF wants to “beused” as the saying goes today. SELF wants to please the leaders ofsome grandiose religious group and be also a leader who makesbig money and enjoys the adoration of the underlings, just as theleaders SELF admires do.

“Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone lovesthe world, the love of the Father is not in him.” 1 John 2:15.

THE FLESH wants to be glorified, to be considered a right-eous fine Christian, to be known as a “spiritual” person. Self doesnot want to be dead and Christ only to live within them and beglorified. THE FLESH wants Law-works to dominate, to showthat SELF is able to live a righteous life in its own strength.

We all need the message of the CRUCIFIED LIFE so verymuch. Various teachers of other days, including the wonderful writ-ings of Jessie Penn-Lewis and Hannah Whitall Smith, still speak to ustoday, praise God. The message of the crucified life has not died outaltogether.Let us compare the reality of the Grace-faith lifewith the Law-works life:The Grace-faith life is not about head knowledge; it is just as real asthe initial salvation experience is real. We all know church-goers whohave no salvation, yet understand that Christ died on the Cross forthe world’s sin. A lady I know who is a Uniting Church woman isone such person. Her husband received Christ, and I was thrilled. Itold her about this, that he understood at last that Christ Jesus haddied on the Cross for his own sin, he was 80 years old. His wife said,“He has always known that!” She knew that herself, but she had onlyhead knowledge, she had never had the Gospel message broughthome to her heart, she had never received the enlightenment of theHoly Spirit to make His sacrifice her very own, she had never

7. He bases his supplication not on the righteousness thathe or Israel have done in previous periods, but on God’sdeliverance of Israel from Egyptian bondage,on His love and Grace in times past.

8. It is the GREAT INTERRUPTED PRAYER.See verses 20-23. Daniel is in Babylon, no real templeworship there, he is in a “home temple” in a way.At the time that would have been the evening oblation inthe Temple, the prayer of Daniel is interrupted by ofthe highest ranking angels in Heaven, Gabriel. He assumedthe appearance of a man. Gabriel flies to him across thegreat distances “swiftly.”

9. And what does he bring in answer to Daniel’s prayer? The Good News of God bringing blessing to Daniel’speople Israel eventually – THE SEVENTY WEEKSprophecy! See Daniel 9:24-27. The Time of Jacob’sTrouble, the Tribulation Period.

10. The brief outline of the answer given to Daniel is basically this:

God will deal with Israel in the Seventieth Week. (see last section of diagram on following page)

1. He will finish the Transgression of Israel.

11. He will make an end of their sin.

111. He will make reconciliation for iniquity.

1V. And He will bring in everlasting righteousness for Israel.

V. To seal up the vision and prophecy.

V1. To anoint the Most Holy, a place not a person.

If you are reading this you will have probably made up your mindabout that already, you have rejected the religious Antichrist system!Stand there, don’t retreat, hold your ground, there are rewards inHeaven for such as you. You will one day, maybe soon, be able tocast your crown at the feet of Christ, what an honour that will be.God bless you.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried,he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised tothem that love him.” James 1:12

THE WORLD, THE FLESH& THE DEVIL.

“Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth thatJesus is the Son of God?” 1 John 5:5.

The world can still have an awful influence over the re-deemed believer, even though we deeply love Christ and want inour hearts to trust and obey Him. We should examine carefullywhat the Bible tells us about this, for we should be crucified to theworld and its power.

Isn’t this really what has causedmany Christians in our day to go wrong?

The drawing power of the world and its lusts under Satan!1. “And we know that we are of God, and the whole world liethin wickedness [and under the power of the wicked one].” 1 John 5:19.

God has shown us what the real nature and strength of the worldis. 1 John 2:15-17 tells us so much:

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyman love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of theeyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeththe will of God abideth for ever.”

“the lust of the flesh” isn’t this lust of self-pleasing what isreally behind the defection into the Antichrist religious movements.SELF can find a place to be, to enjoy the music and atmosphere,

we can see the truth of this all around us, we do not have to even listthe vast multitude of events going on, if we could do so, it is actuallyimpossible to do this so humungous and complex are the eventsglobally and nationally. Sitting within this configuration are two maingroups of “Protestant Christians”.One is the worldly apostate group, most unsaved in reality butsome, a small minority, born-again but backslidden. The other is made up of godly Christians who will not bow theknee to the counterfeits and errors of the One World religioussystem of Antichrist, they are aware, they have their eyes openedby the Lord.

The first group is growing rapidly stronger, more powerfuland richer, the enormous “successes” of the apostate “Laodicean”Church (Revelation 3:14-22) are stunning in their grandiose pre-tensions.

The godly Christian group the “Philadelphia” Church (Rev-elation 3:7-13) is becoming more humbled, hidden away, despisedand contrite. This is of the Lord God Almighty, I truly believewith all my heart. He is bringing His redeemed people low at theend of the Church Age that we may glory in nothing but Him.There will be no boasters showing off at the Rapture, we will beas nothing, that the glory will be all for God and His Son JesusChrist. Fear not, little flock, Jesus and His disciples were the scumof the earth as the Dispensation of Law passed away. Everydispensation ends in failure, and we of the True Church will bebrought very, very low perhaps before the Church Age finallycloses.

Are we greater or more worthy than our Lordthat we should be ashamed of our lowly state

in these awesome days? The Almighty God is bringing a huge test in this 21st century,I believe.

Will we, His people, yield to the world and its desires andthrow in our lot with the apostates and gain wealth, prestige, power and acclaim, and be in the exciting

movements sweeping Christendom, or will we be as thescum of the earth and refuse to compromise with it?

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 21

HOW DOES THIS FIT IN WITH US,THE BODY OF CHRIST,

THE CHURCH UNDER GOD?1. We are almost ready to be thrown into the “Lion’s Den.”

Times are perilous.

2. We need more than individual confession and repentance;we need to repent corporately for our failure in the ChurchAge. This is where strength and spiritual power lies toendure what the future is to bring.

3. The Church of Jesus Christ is in the evening of our stayhere on earth.

4. WE should prepare ourselves for penance, for OURchurches and organizations lie in ruins. Christendom hassold itself to the Whore of Babylon!

5. WE need confession, supplication and intercession, not justcriticism and dismay.

6. Are we saying “WE” and “US”, or just “THEM.”?

7. God has delivered US, the Church, from Babylon or thebondage of sin and death. Can’t we expect Him to yet deliver thefailed Church because of His Grace? In the Rapture, all will go; aswe wait God will yet open some foolish and blinded eyes! Don’tbe ashamed of “them” and leave it at that, seek God for them.

8. God could indeed interrupt us with good news! One daysoon all will know the Truth and realize their departure from theLord and His Word – at the Judgement Seat of Christ, not in theTribulation. The Church will have its own horrendous judgementnevertheless, at the Bema Seat.

Let me briefly explain what I mean:

24

1. Pentecostalism is legalism when it declares that the “newlife” is ourselves; that we are ‘the new creation” we are “more thanconquerors that’s what we are”. Instead of Christ Jesus being thenew life within us, and we must be totally dependent upon Himalone. Legalism is living by the LAW; it is about us living by Law-Works. Legalism operates as though WE ourselves can live the Chris-tian life. Oh, lip service can be given to God helping us, but basicallywe have to live the life ourselves, make ourselves holy. “The Spirit” isfor gifts and miracles in this understanding, not for the new life ofChrist Jesus and His righteousness as fruit.2. Fundamental Christianity is legalism when it teaches thatif we try hard to obey the teachings of the Bible, get all our doctrinescorrect, look the part, we are good Christians. Much of what we areencountering today is like stirring up a pool of mud, round and round, never reckoning the old Adam life dead and being filled with theindwelling Christ through the Holy Spirit. The disciplines and restraintsput on the old man can do nothing to bring the LIFE God hasplanned for individuals and the churches. The old Adam life is justmoved around, encouraged to be “good” and it keeps on sinningeven when it puts on a more religious and respectable front!3. Christians who are well-grounded in the Word, whooppose evolution, who expose error and handle apologetics well, who can defeat humanism by sound logic and Biblical discourse, are legalists when they imagine that this sort of effort is enoughto win souls and defeat the enemy. If they do not know thecrucified life as a reality, they are living by Law-works. I could go onhere at length, in fact everywhere we are looking today at Christian-ity in general we are encountering Law-works for “Christian” livingand witnessing.

TO DIE IS GAIN.“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21.

Something mysterious is happening on planet earth! The Anti-Christ system is overwhelmingly taking over politically and religiously,

9. THE GOOD NEWS God is bringing to the Church isshown in our New Testament prophecy:

1. God will finish forever the transgressions of theChristian Church, thank the Lord!

11. He will make an end of OUR sins.111. He will be reconciled with the failed Church in glory,

because of Christ’s shed blood for us all. Everyone will know the truth then.1V. He will bring everlasting righteousness for His erring

Church.V. Our prophecy does not need to be sealed up until theLatter Days, praise God we are living through prophecyright now!V1. The MOST HOLY CHRIST JESUS will come for usvery soon it seems, and one day we will see, as the Re-deemed Bride of Christ, all of us, the Most Holy MillennialTemple set up in Shiloh. We will be there, everyone of theChristian Church members, all who are truly redeemed –they will never be lost, none of them. Ezekiel 41: 1-42: 20. The Shekinah Glory of the Lordwill return and anoint the Holy Place on earth.

If you feel led of God, make Daniel’s prayer your ownas a part of the failed Body of Christ, the True Church.

THE DEPARTUREFROM THE LORD.

CHRIST JESUS HIMSELF is the whole answer to the dis-aster that has happened to the Body of Christ and its true organi-zations! It is not just that the Church departed from the Word ofGod or from the faith, the Church departed from the Lord Himself. We did not allowed Him to be All in the Body, we did not preach, teach or practice the “salvation to the uttermost” He wanted togive. We all did not know what it was to live the crucified life. Afew here and there knew these things, but legalism in various modesdominated even the True Church gatherings. There is no reason

“Beauty for Ashes” ~ Vol. 8:2 Winter 23

that the Remnant Church now has to continue on in legalism,Jesus Christ is coming back soon, we can bow the knee and yieldto the death of the old man, and abandon ourselves to the indwell-ing Christ and His fullness, for He is the new life within us.

LEGALISM VERSUS GRACE.Legalism is extremely easy in many ways, in comparison to

living by Grace. Legalism does not require real heart response toGod; one can get away with being one thing inside and some-thing else on the outside. You can go to church diligently, teach aBible class perhaps, not drink or smoke or go to the video shop, dress properly, quote Bible verses and so on. If you do these things,by legalism’s standard, you are living a holy and changed life. Ifinside you are self-righteous, piously bad tempered and impatient, cold, harsh and have little love – then legalism does not hold thatagainst you. It is what you profess that matters, not what you are.Living by Grace through faith, wanting only the sanctificationthat is a gift from God, Christ living out His life through you, requires wanting to be saved from all sin with all your heart, whollydesiring to be dead to the entire old life, that Christ might liveinstead of you. It requires a total opening of the life to God, thatHe might show all your sin, not just the sins you are know aboutfrom your own heart. Remember that the heart of man is deceit-ful; we can make ourselves believe that there are no sins likeunforgiveness, self-pity, envy and lack of sympathy inside us. Godknows everything, He cannot be deceived:

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9.

Legalism can operate without real faith, it can just believein its own diligence and zeal, it can be determined to spread theGospel to sinners, and trust in the professionalism of its tract pres-entation and its wide distribution of material. Legalism can wearmany hats, some fluffy and exciting, some sensible and old-fash-ioned, some academic and scientific looking. No matter what hat isworn, it is still legalism dressed up in its Easter Bonnet.
