Host or be hosted to get to know members you see regularly but don’t yet
personally know! We are happy to find kid-friendly hosts for families. Individ-
ual members may request to be paired with another guest.
Register to Host: How many people would you like to host (adults
& children)? Are there any special dietary restrictions in the food you
cook (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc.)? If you'd like, tell us a little
about yourself. We’ll match you with guests! And of course, please
have a sukkah available for hosting!
Register to be a Guest: How many adults & children total? Special
dietary restrictions? Note: adding people last minute can be a problem,
but backing out last minute is a bigger problem—please be sure you
will be able to make it!
Please register by September 14
to Rena Selya Cohen at [email protected]
Welcome back! A reminder that we transi-
tioned to our new rooms last Shabbat! If you
need help finding your child’s group, please

Oct. 2018-June 2019 | 1st Sunday of Each Month | 9:30-11:00 AM
This series explores mitzvot with the goal of uncovering practical &
spiritual meaning for women. Each session will focus on one mitzvah
in depth & will be taught by a different strong & learned female Or-
thodox leader in Los Angeles. We will trace the halachic history of
the mitzvah & arrive at our practice today. See back table flyer.
Inspired by Rav Rahel Berkovits' curriculum at Machon Pardes.
UPCOMING
Oct. 2018-June 2019 | 2nd Tuesday of Each Month | 8:00 PM
At this BDJ Babies monthly learning chaburah, we will address hot
topics relevant for us as Orthodox women balancing it all —
young kids, careers, our Judaism, and more. Wine, snacks &
nonalcoholic beverages provided.
RSVP required monthly to [email protected].
Begins Oct. 14 | Sundays | 8:30-9:15 PM | Gill Residence
Using the Sefer HaChinuch, we’ll work through one mitzvah at a
time, as we study them in their original Biblical context, uncover
various meanings & reasons that have been ascribed to them, &
trace their development into normative Halachic practice. Please
bring your own copy of Sefer HaChinuch (“The Book of Instruc-
tion"). Register : www.bnaidavid.com/event/iengage-course.html
Begins Nov. 19 | Mondays | 7:30-9:00 PM | Beit Midrash
This year we crack open the opening chapter of Bava Metzia, which
explores the legal, psychological & spiritual dimensions of dispute-
resolution. We open the familiar “Two are holding a garment, each
one claiming, ‘I found it’…” & we delve deeply from there.
Participants use their own choice of Gemara text (traditional,
Steinsaltz, Artscroll, etc.). Prior Gemara experience is beneficial.
Good Hebrew reading is important.
