FIRST BAPTIST EN ESPANOL!This past Sunday was our first Sunday of FBC en Espanol! Our friend Adolfo Chavez is leading this work and I’m FIRED UP about it! We had 46 people, many of whom are guests to us. They’ll meet again on December 15 and will continue their work. Pray with me for their work and for their outreach. WHAT TO DO WHEN GOD SEEMS TO BE TEMPTING METhis week concludes our “What to do when” series. What can I do when God seems to be tempting me? Based on 1 John 2:16 and the life of Joseph in Genesis 39, we’ll ask how to handle temptation. Meet me Sunday at 8:25 AM or 11:05 AM!Your pastor,Darin

FBC Church Council minutes, reports, and other information are available on the website at www.fbc-midland.org/church-council or under the Resources tab on the home page.

From the pastorMy beloved First Family,Grace and Peace today! Our God is a gracious and powerful God, loving us and guiding us! As Thanksgiving begins to get close, begin to look around at the blessings God has given you this year. When we wait until Thanksgiving Day to begin giving thanks, sometimes we can forget something. If we take our time with our thanksgiving, it’s like taking your time with a great meal! Begin asking this week, “What can I be thankful for this year?” Such an attitude is EXACTLY like Christ in Philippians 2!THANKSGIVING BANQUETOur Thanksgiving Banquet is November 24! I hope and pray you’ll make time to join our First Family meal! It's a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings, and the best part is that you don’t have to make it AND you don’t have to clean it up! Cost is $5 in advance, $10 at the door. Such pricing allows us to be good stewards of God’s money. You can get your tickets this Sunday morning at our Welcome Center desk (cash as well as credit / debit cards). Join me in celebrating with our First Family! THE GIFTAs Thanksgiving gives way to Christmas, I want to invite you to participate in THE GIFT. Our date this year is Saturday, December 14. We need families to adopt those children and families who have signed up. You can adopt these children by calling our mission office or by picking up a family card in our Welcome Center on Sunday morning. You’ve probably heard me say, “You’re never closer to Jesus than when you’re serving people.” That’s the other element of THE GIFT we need – YOU! If you signed up to volunteer last year, we’ll be reaching out to you to see if you’d like to volunteer again. If you did not serve last year, sign ups begin Sunday, November 24, for the opportunity to reach people and serve them missionally. Maybe you can’t go with us to Costa Rica, Toronto, Kenya or even to the other side of town. But you CAN give one Saturday (or even a few hours one Saturday)! THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO SERVE THE LORD! We had more than 200 of us who served last year. We’d welcome you to serve this year.

Bereavement Meal MinistryOne way FBC ministers to a family, upon the death of a loved-one, is by offering to prepare a meal for them the day of the funeral. We have

a wonderful group of volunteers who set up the meal, serve the family, & then clean up afterward. If you would like to volunteer to receive training, or just want more information about this ministry, please contact Susan Upham at 432.683.0604
