Symbolon Living the Faith

Catholic Social Teaching: Protecting the Dignity of the Human Person

Catholic Social Teaching isn’t just for Catholics; it’s for the entire world. It is a way to think about and act

on the issues that face all of us in order to bring about a greater flourishing and happiness of every human

person. It’s a way to help all people live in accord with basic human dignity and to bring about true and

lasting peace in the world.

In the December session of Symbolon, we will consider how it is that when we encounter those in need,

we encounter the Lord Himself. This is the bottom line of Catholic Social Teaching. We will meet at Saint

Paschal on Monday, December 2 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the KAZEL ROOM or at

Saint Clare on Thursday, December 5 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Harvest Room. There is no

registration fee, so please just come and become part of this exciting adult faith formation program.

If you cannot attend either of these sessions, we invite you to watch the video on FORMED

(http://www.saintclare.formed.org) and join the online community to share your questions and

comments. If you have any questions or would like further information, call Barb Curran at

440-840-5511 or Rosalie Lewis at 440-227-8718.

Hello families and friends of Corpus Christi Academy. Since celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday, it is still

important to remember what it was all about, GIVING THANKS! I would like to start off with a huge

THANK YOU to Renee Boerner and everyone that made our Mission: Possible. It truly would not have

been possible without all of the volunteer hours, effort and donations. Another thank you goes out to

the amazing faculty and staff at Corpus Christi Academy for their dedication and devotion to their very

important vocation, and also dealing with my crazy schedules. Everyone at CCA epitomizes true

flexibility, THANK YOU! All of our families and friends deserve a THANK-YOU for their support of the

school, our community, and our parishes. A tremendous THANK-YOU also is sent to the Phillip H. and

Jane G. Geier Fund at the Cleveland Foundation for a very sizable grant to support Corpus Christi

Academy. Lastly, to anyone and everyone that is a part of “The Academy” family, I want to issue a very

personal and sincere THANK-YOU for welcoming and embracing me into this amazing and beautiful

fellowship that is CORPUS CHRISTI ACADEMY.

In closing, it is so very important to remember that as a community we need to support each other in all

ways and at all times. Often, we get caught up in our individualistic way of life and we lose track of

those around us. It is integral to our Catholic faith, our Christian beliefs, and our foundation as human

beings that we support, respect, and treat with dignity EVERYONE, everyday, and all the time, in the

name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

As for ME AND MY HOUSE, We will serve the Lord!

- Joshua 24:15

God Bless,

Matthew Tabar

Rejoice in the Lord!

Advent Family Night

Saturday, December 7, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

In the Academy Gym

Please join us for our annual Advent Family Night. This is a fun evening for families to come together

during the waiting days of Advent to prepare for Christmas. Come join us as we look beyond the

decorations of the season to the event that shapes our celebration, the birth of Christ, our Savior. We

have a prayer service, pizza, a movie and family activities. We encourage grandparents, single friends

and neighbors to join your family for this special evening. BRING A SNACK TO SHARE.

RSVP by Friday, December 6, to Ms. Lori Mascia, 440-449-4242, extension 119 or

[email protected]. Registration forms are also available in the business office.

“Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord.” ~ Psalm 122

American Heritage Girls

Shoe Collection Drive

The American Heritage Girls are starting their biannual Shoe Collection drive. By cleaning out your

closets, you can help support our Troop and help others in developing countries by repurposing your

shoes. Our goal is 2,600 pairs of shoes by January 18. We are looking for new or gently used shoes

(all kinds—adults, kids, boots, sandals, high heels).

There will be collection boxes in the back of the church. Please put your donated shoes in there. If

there are any questions, please contact Christy Raynor at 440-684-0549. Thank you for your

support.

Advent Night of Reflection

Emmanuel: God with us from Eucharist

to the Pathway of Life.

Please join Maureen Dowd on Tuesday,

December 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Paschal

Church to reflect on the Advent Scriptures.

Maureen will offer insights on how we can

make the connection between Eucharist and

life during this holy season of waiting and

preparation. Refreshments will follow the
