Endangered species:Some species in Portugal are endangered, in particular:

Mammals:

the Iberian lynx the Iberian Wolf the monk seal the dolphin

Birds:

the Black Stork the Imperial eagle

Plants:

Mondego’s narciso

Iberian lynx

During the day the Iberian Lynx lives hidden and it just hunts at the end of the day.

It eats wild rabbits. We can find it in Alcácer

do Sal, Serra da Malcata and Serra do Portel.

The main cause of its extinction is the destruction of its habitat.

Iberian Wolf

It is smaller than the other wolves.

It weighs between 30 and 45 kilos.

It has triangular ears. It feeds on deers. It lives mainly in the border

areas with Spain.

The main cause of its extinction is the destruction of its habitat and its unfair bad reputation.It has already disappeared in Alentejo but we can find it in some mountainous regions such as Gerês, Alvão and Bragança.

Black Stork It has a white plumage in its

belly and black on the back, tail, head and neck.

Its beak and legs are bright red.

It feeds on large insects, crustaceans, amphibians and small fish.

We can find it near the rivers Douro, Tejo and Guadiana.

The main causes of its extinction are the destruction of forests, wetlands, streams and lakes as well as pollution from pesticides.
