Titan AccoladesFOUR WHEELER Magazine 2004 Pickup Truck of the Year

Big just wasn’t big enough. With tremendous power and innovative thinking, Titan was named 2004 Pickup of the year!

Titan Accolades“The Titan didn't just win this test, it ran away with it. Such a result might seem like an improbable upset, but the numbers speak for themselves. It cleaned up at the test track, had the second lowest sticker price, offered the most desirable features and was every editor's number-one recommended pick.”

“….The F-150's higher tow rating didn't stop the Titan from cleaning the Ford's clock when it was time to pull 6,000 pounds through the quarter-mile and up a steep highway pass.”

“One editor summed up the Titan's burly character with this simple observation: "After years of driving trucks designed to feel like cars, the Titan reminds you of what a real truck is supposed to feel like.”

Edmunds.com – 2004 Full-Size Truck Comparison Test

“Right out of the box, the tough-looking Titan is fully competitive with the full-size pickups from Ford, Chevy, and Dodge in every crucial, quantifiable measurement, from power and torque to payload and towing to bed size and cup-holder count. Yet the Titan's most serious kick to Detroit's groin is the simple fact that it is now the best pickup to drive. “

Automobile Magazine – 2004 All-Star Pickup Truck: Nissan Titan

“Who would’ve imagined a foreigner truck making its full-size debut and copping the prize? And doing it by a landslide margin of seven points!

Nissan didn’t prep for a fistfight by getting a manicure. It made big V-8 power standard. It made the cab huge. It butched up the styling enough to leave no one thinking this was a wuss Japanese truck. And it hustled the extra mile to bring clever details that others surely thought of but decided they didn’t need to be competitive. Finally, Nissan clamped a lid on price.”

Titan Cab Types

Titan is offered in two popular cab types;

- King Cab with rear hinged wide-open™ swing out rear doors - Crew Cab model with front hinged full-size rear doors

Titan is not offered in a Regular Cab configuration. In the ½ ton pickup truck market, both sales volume and popularity are declining for the regular cab type pickup trucks due to limited every day utility. Industry trend is moving towards full-size pickup trucks with additional cargo and passenger capacity. For Nissan, Crew Cab makes up over 60% of Titan sales.

Tundra is not a direct competitor to Titan, it is however the nearest and only other Japanese pickup. Tundra is considered “7/8th“ of full-size truck, referring to Tundra's smaller dimension and truck capabilities. Limited option and standard equipment availability on Tundra makes it difficult to compare comparably equipped trucks. $3,032 MSRP advantage of Tundra is offset by approximately $5,600-$5,800 of additional standard content in Titan.

5th Wheel/GooseneckA 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer can be towed by installing a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer hitch. These types of hitches are mounted in the bed of the pick-up. A professional trailer equipment supplier should install these hitches as it is very important to mount the hitch correctly to distribute the king pin weight for the proper load carrying and sway control performance.

The king pin weight should be 15 to 25 percent of the fully loaded trailer. Make sure the king pin weight does not cause the gross vehicle weight to exceed the Gross Maximum Weight Rating or the rear axle weight to exceed the Rear Gross Axle Weight rating, see “Maximum load limits” in the owner’s manual.

The weight of the trailer should not exceed the maximum towing capacity for the vehicle; see “Towing load/specification” in the owner’s manual.

Make sure the trailer design allows for the correct vehicle to trailer clearances before purchasing a 5th wheel trailer.

Do not use this vehicle for snowplowing. Installing a snowplow may affect vehicle handling. This may cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and could result in serious vehicle damage or personal injury.
