TITLE RESEARCHNICOLE HERRING

Page 2: Title research

Our real media text uses a bright yellow colour to make the title stand out. Also the words are all in different sizes which draws attention to it and makes it more edgy. The lines and grainy bits gives it a thriller look and the font choice helps to do this as well. The font also looks as if it is glowing which is used within the thriller genre and gives it a more creepy feel to it.

Real media text

Here the font is bold, capital letters and is in a white font. Most thriller films incorporate the colours black and white and gives it a contrasting effect. The effect of the font/word gives it a distressed look and makes it appear more thriller like. They have also incorporated the number 7 which is the title and so it sticks with the audience.

This title uses black and red which signifies blood and death, therefore fitting with the thriller genre. Again this title uses bold, capital letters to make the title stand out and draw in the audiences attention. However looking at other thriller film titles, I haven’t seen any do a gradient effect on it.

This title uses bold, capital letters to make the title stand out. Similar to the House at the end of the street the title uses lines. The white colour makes it look as if the title is glowing which again is similar to our real media text. This shows that glowing fonts are used within the thriller genre.

Here this title has incorporated the motel light sign that is used in America. The word Vacancy is of more importance as it draws the audiences attention to it because it is glowing and in bold, capital letters. The word No can hardly been seen. Here it has also used the typical glowing light effect. The colour is a an orange, yellow and red effect, still following the typical conventions of a thriller title.

This title again uses a glowing effect and the distressed font gives it a sinister feel to it. Again the letters are all in capital bold letters to make it stand out, this is a running theme throughout thriller titles.
