Words of Welcome Shalom: shalom to those who are far off, shalom to those who are near, says ADONAI.

Mighty God who listens to the poor and hears their prayer: how long will You be distant and hidden from me? Night and day I turn, calling out with a true heart, always thanking You, for Your kindness, so great. My sovereign, my hope is in You; my heart trusts in You, as a dreamer of dreams depends on an interpreter. This I ask: hear my prayer. This I seek – not more, not less.

To Seek Renewal On this night; O God, we have come into Your house to pray in Your sanctuary.

But if the heavens are merely Your throne, if the earth is but Your footstool,

If the heaven of heavens cannot contain You, how much less this house, built by mere human hands.

Yet although Your dwelling place is every place, and although You can be sought and found in any place,

It is to this place that we come most confidently – to seek renewal in Your purifying presence.

Return Again Return again, Return again, Return to the home of your soul. (2x)

Return to who you are, Return to what you are, Return to where you are born and reborn again. (2x)

Return again, Return again, Return to the home of your soul. (2x)

Sound the shofar on our feast day, on the new moon, when it is hidden. For it is Israel’s law, a decree of the God of Jacob. Tik’u va-chodesh shofar, ba-ke-se l’yom cha-gei-nu. Ki chok l’yis-ra-el hu, mish-pat lei-lo-hei Ya-a-kov.

Hatzi Kaddish May God’s great name be exalted and hallowed throughout the created world, as is God’s wish. May God’s sovereignty soon be established in your lifetime and in your days, and in the days of all the House of Israel. And respond with: Amen. May God’s great name be acknowledged forever and ever! May the name of the Holy One be acknowledged and celebrat-ed, lauded and worshipped, exalted and honored, extolled and acclaimed—though God, who is blessed, b’rikh-hu, is truly far beyond all acknowledgment and praise, or any expressions of gratitude or consolation ever spoken in the world. And respond with: Amen.

Baruch a-tah Adonai elo-hei-nu me-lech ha-olam, she-he-che-yanu v'kiy'ma-nu v'higi-anu laz'man ha-zeh.

May it be your will, ADONAI our God and God of our ancestors, that the year _______ be one of balanced and mindful growth for us as individuals, for our families, and our communities. May we return next year in good health and in appreciation of a year of greater peace, a year in which we deepened our lives through learning and the performance of mitzvot, a year in which we were conscious of the Divine Presence, a year in which we strengthened our shared commitment to tikkun olam, the betterment of the world.

We conclude: Barukh atah ADONAI our God, ruler of time and space, for granting us life, for sustaining us, and for bringing us to this moment.

Concluding Prayers Aleinu It is for us to praise the ruler of the world, to acclaim the Crea-tor, who has not made us merely a nation, nor formed us as all earthly families, nor given us an ordinary destiny. And so we bow, acknowledging the supreme sovereign, the Ho-ly One, who is praised - the One who spreads out the heavens and establishes the earth, whose glorious abode is in the high-est heaven, whose powerful presence is in the loftiest heights. This is our God, none else; ours is the true sovereign, there is no other. As it is written in the Torah: “Know this day and take it to heart, that ADONAI is God in heaven above and on eath be-low; there is no other.” Aleinu l'sha-bei-ach la-adon hakol, la-teit g'dulah l'yo-tzeir b'rei-shit, she-lo a-sanu k'goyei ha-a ratzot, v'lo sa manu k'mish-p'chot ha-adamah, she-lo sam chel-keinu ka-hem, v'go-ra-leinu k'chol ha-monam, va-a-nachnu kor-im umish-tacha-vim u-modim, lif-nei me-lech mal-chei ham-lachim, h-akadosh ba-ruch hu.
