1996-2006 Chrysler Sebring is installation guide is for installing the convertible top on all models of the 1996 through 2006 Chrysler Sebring. SIERRA Tops are available in both vinyl and cloth materials. e images in this installation guide are for the vinyl top, however if you purchased a cloth top, the steps are exactly the same. For 1996-2006 models you can reuse your existing convertible top headliner. As you remove the head- liner make notes on how it was installed and keep all hardware as these instructions do not include com- plete information about removing and re-attaching the headliner. This installation guide is for installing the convertible top on all models of the 1996 through 2006 Chrysler Sebring.

SIERRA Tops are available in both vinyl and cloth materials. The images in this installation guide are for the vinyl top, however if you purchased a cloth top, the steps are exactly the same.

For 1996-2006 models you can reuse your existing convertible top headliner. As you remove the head-liner make notes on how it was installed and keep all hardware as these instructions do not include com-plete information about removing and re-attaching the headliner.

Convertible Top Installation Guide

MATERIALS NEEDED:

• Torx, Phillip and flat screwdrivers • 13mm socket • 2” putty knife • Clip removal tool • Box cutter • Upholstery stapler with ½” staples • Wire cutter • Contact cement adhesive • 2” Black or Silver duct tape • Flat-tip pliers • Rubber mallet • 6” straight pick • Industrial scissor • 3’ hanger wire

SIERRA Auto Tops & Seats Warranty

SIERRA Auto Tops & Seats convertible tops, headliners and related products are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials and workmanship at the time of shipment from our facility. The warranty applies to the original owner and is not transferrable. FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS FROM THE DATE THE UNIT IS DELIVERED TO THE FIRST RETAIL PURCHASER:

• Failure of the glass window bond to the topping material

FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3) YEARS FROM THE DATE THE UNIT IS DELIVERED TO THE FIRST RETAIL PURCHASER:

• Cracking or breaking of plastic components • Delamination of the deck seams

ITEMS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANY FOR ANY PERIOD OF TIME:

• Rips, tears, or discoloration of the topping material and stitching • Seals and gaskets • Dealer and/or purchaser installed parts and accessories • Installation on the vehicle • Glass window breakage or cracking • Zippers and fasteners

CERTAIN CONDITIONS WILL VOID ALL WARRANTY INCLUDING:

• use for any purpose other than normal private use including rental and promotion • altering the convertible top in any manner without written approval of SIERRA • misuse, negligence or accident • installation of any part or accessory without written approval from SIERRA

CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS This warranty is subject to certain conditions and limitations including, but not limited to, the following:

• Any part of a SIERRA convertible top that is found to be defective under the terms of this warranty will be repaired or replaced using either new or reconditioned parts at the discretion of SIERRA.

• In determining what constitutes a failure under the terms of this warranty the decision of SIERRA shall be final. • This warranty is extended to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to subsequent purchasers. • SIERRA does not accept any responsibility in connection with the installation of any of its products. • SIERRA does not undertake responsibility to any purchaser for warranty express or implied by any of its dealers,

distributors or agents beyond that which is contained herein. • Without regard to an alleged defect of its products SIERRA under any circumstances does not assume responsibility

for loss of time, inconvenience, revenue, or other consequential damage including, but not limited to, expenses for telephone, food, lodging, travel, loss or damage to the vehicle the products are installed on or loss or damage to personal property of the purchaser or user of the products.

• SIERRA reserves the right to make changes in the design of, improvements of, or warranty of its products without imposing any obligation upon itself to provide the same for any products theretofore manufactured.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on or exclusions to warranties, therefore some of the exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty affords you specific legal rights. You may have other legal rights that may vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

STEP 1.

For 2001 through 2006 mod-els only, begin by removing the side front weather seals from the frame.

Remove torx screws to release molded cover and metal strip from header.

Carefully remove staples across header and release Top front edge from frame.

Remove screws to release side tension cables from frame and pull out cables from Top.

STEP 5.

Continued...remove screws to release side tension cables from frame and pull out cables from Top.

Remove screws to release Top side support straps from frame.

STEP 7.

Remove rear quarter rubber weather seals and metal rails from frame to release Top.

STEP 9.

Remove crossbow lock screws to release Top support retainer at-tachments from frame.

STEP 11.

Carefully cut rear quarters of old Top and remove to gain easy ac-cess at lower attachment.

Remove screws to release head-liner and carpet from tacking rails to access bolt nuts.

STEP 13.

Continued...remove screws to release headliner and carpet from tacking rails to access bolt nuts.

Remove 13mm bolt nuts to re-lease tacking rails and disconnect window defrost plugs.

STEP 15.

Continued...remove 13mm bolt nuts to release tacking rails and disconnect window defrost plugs.

Protect vehicle first, lift out tack-ing rails from well compartment and release end springs.

STEP 17.

Continued...protect vehicle first, lift out tacking rails from well compartment and release end springs.

Before separating Top from tack-ing rails, chalk mark position points for replacement Top.

STEP 23.

Continue to remove staples to separate window section from tacking rail.

Remove support tapes and lock screws from 4th bow to free glass window from frame.

STEP 25.

Continued...remove support tapes and lock screws from 4th bow to free glass window from frame.

Slide upper window retainer into 4th bow and secure by carefully tapping with rubber mallet.

STEP 27.

Chalk center position of window and tacking rail, match both lower edges to start stapling.

Position 4” webbing straps (back-side mark) to lower and inside edge of tacking rail to staple.

STEP 29.

Position window side panels to marked location and start staple with support rubber strips.

Position Top onto marked tacking rails, match pre-marked dots (3) to lower edge of tacking rail and start staple.

STEP 31.

Position Top onto marked tacking rails, match pre-marked dots (3) to lower edge of tacking rail and start staple.

Carefully cut bolt nut opening on all tacking rails.

Connect support end springs to Top and tacking rail, apply sup-port duct tape to 4th bow.

STEP 33.

Continued...connect support end springs to Top and tacking rail, apply support duct tape to 4th bow.

Lower window section into top well compartment, secure tacking rails to vehicle (hand tighten first) using centering rings and bolt nuts.

STEP 35.

Run defrost wire thru window pockets and connect plug to glass window pins.

Attach Top support retainers to crossbows secure with rubber mallet and lock screws.

STEP 37.

Continued...attach Top support retainers to crossbows secure with rubber mallet and lock screws.

Insert hanger wire from rear cable pocket, attach cable to wire and carefully slide wire out.

STEP 41.

Apply adhesive across Top, header and side pockets, after 5 minutes of dry time (frame partially open) connect header edge into side pockets.

STEP 43.

Position frame closer to wind-shield post and without force attach Top across header.

Carefully cut excess material across header and attach header cover and metal strip.

STEP 45.

Continued...carefully cut excess material across header and attach header cover and metal strip.

For 2001-06 models only, attach side front rubber weather seals to frame.

Retract frame to close position. Apply adhesive to rear quarter channels, after dry time stretch Top flaps and attach.

Retract frame to close position, tighten 13mm nuts to secure tack-ing rails to vehicle.
