Forum OverviewWeathernews – and many of our customers – have a shared vision of improving

Voyage Planning such that we can together achieve “Total Fleet Optimization”.

Over the last 12 months, following the last London customer Forum (plus other similar

Forums in Tokyo), we have developed a new suite of services to meet the needs of all

sectors of the shipping market.

The purpose of this, the 13th Total Fleet Management Service (TFMS) Forum – again

held in London - was to share with all interested parties Weathernews new service

menu, which has been designed to facilitate bunker savings and to address other key

issues facing the shipping industry, such as compliance with future IMO requirements.

Directional Speeches

T h e b e n e f i t s o f a c o m p r e h e n s i v e f l e e t performance monitoring system associated with onboard data collection mechanism providing every hour data to ship Masters on board, as well as ship operators, technical analysts and Weathernews for Optimum Ship Routeing service.

Mr. Ando(Monohakobi Technical Institute)

A r r i v a l Time Managemen t suppo r t ed b y Weathernews Optimum Ship Routeing with communication among the Charterer, Customer, and Ship Owner as well as other parties involved is one of the best ways to reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions, but does not reduce overall capacity. Chevron Shipping collaborated with WNI to create a dynamic ship performance model of each of our vessels, which could update itself daily as new data was added to i t . Having this information is crucial for future voyage planning.

Dan Krokosky (Chevron Tankers –presented on his behalf by Mike Greavette)

“Slow steaming instruction only” is not good enough for fuel savings because it can result in increased fuel consumption – for example when trying to ensure a vessel does not fall behind a certain date regardless of weather conditions. It ’ s important to have access to up-to-date ship-specific performance speed and consumption data for realistic business planning, followed by continuous performance monitoring during voyage and accurate post voyage evaluation.

What WNI Can Do for Your Market

Optimum Ship Routeing technology and expertise is now being

adapted to Tanker and Bulker sectors as well to achieving improved

fleet and performance management with a clear “Plan Do See cycle”

for voyage/business optimization.

Recognizing it is important to accommodate each customer's needs

respectively OSR Voyage Planners reported their findings in their daily

OSR operations.

OSR service techniques of Container vessels and PCTC were presented with past 5 years OSR service development history. WNI’ s next goal is to support EEOI enhancement across the entire fleet.

OSR for the Liner / PCTC

The trade routes run by tankers in many instances may not receive much economic benefit from traditional weather routing services. However, with the new OSR paradigm, fuel savings potential is significant along with keeping the vessels safe. Also fuel savings can be significantly increased when the consignee, the shipping company and Weathernews work together for total optimization.

OSR for Tanker

Capitalizing on OSR modeling systems and associated service structure, the concept of the new service menu Performance Status Monitoring is being designed to support ship operators in continuous performance management and analysis of RPMs, vessel speed and consumption.

Performance for Databese Management

OSR results in “slow performers” and “poor performers” becoming “more predictable performers” to lessen their negative impact to actual voyages. With ship-specific performance data OSR helps operators discuss several options of RTA optimization including earliest arrival, just in time arrival around lay time, and least fuel voyage depending on each voyage / business requirements.Dur ing each voyage, through 24/7 ship performance monitor ing and close communication among ship operators, ship masters and Weathernews, OSR helps operators and ship masters to achieve best outputs on the voyage. The less surprises, the better the planning.

OSR for Bulker

“Total Fleet Management Service”

- Enhanced fuel consumption model with hourly ship data- The Suez Canal transit timing adjustment for the most economical voyage- Assist adoption of Super Slow Steaming while maintaining schedule- Optimum route / RPM selection in tropical storm evasion situations while achieving the minimum fuel consumption- Early warning to ship operators (RC Alert)
