TOUR DE YORKSHIRE 2015

Summary / Sommaire

This year will once again see sporting history in the making as Yorkshire launches the first ever Tour de Yorkshire international cycle race. The Tour de Yorkshire is a 2.1 UCI Europe Tour event. This year’s inaugural event is the start of a cycling legacy for Yorkshire following the huge success of the 2014 Yorkshire Grand Départ, which was watched at the roadside by crowds of over 4 million, and dubbed ‘The grandest Grand Départ ever’ by A.S.O. Race Director Christian Prudhomme. Welcome to Yorkshire and A.S.O. are strongly committed to developing what will become a breathtaking annual race in a county made for cycling. The event will see three full stages taking place over three days, with a women’s race and mass participation sportive running alongside.

Stage 1Starting at the seaside town of Bridlington and 174km later finishing further up the coast in Scarborough. The riders will pass through spectacular coastal scenery and the iconic North York Moors landscapes. A beautiful stage to start the Tour de Yorkshire.

Stage 2The race will start outside the imposing Selby Abbey and head out towards Market Weighton, weaving through the Yorkshire Wolds to Beverley and onto Stamford Bridge before arriving in the historic City of York.

Stage 3A stage to challenge the riders starting at the home of sculpture, Wakefield. This stage will also take in Barnsley, six classified and brutal climbs, including the Cow & Calf, before racing into Roundhay Park in Leeds to finish.

Cette année encore, une nouvelle page de l’histoire sportive du Yorkshire sera écrite avec le lancement du tout premier Tour de Yorkshire, épreuve cycliste internationale. Le Tour de Yorkshire est une course inscrite au calendrier de l’UCI Europe Tour (2.1). Cette édition inaugurale marque la suite logique du fort héritage cycliste déjà laissé au Yorkshire à l’occasion du Grand Départ du Tour de France en 2014 et de son immense succès. Un événement marquant vu par une foule de plus de 4 millions de spectateurs massés le long des routes et considéré par le directeur du Tour de France chez A.S.O., Christian Prudhomme, comme étant : « Le Grand Départ le plus impressionnant jamais vu ». Welcome to Yorkshire et A.S.O. travaillent main dans la main pour développer une course qui pourrait devenir une épreuve annuelle époustou-flante dans une région faite pour le cyclisme. L’épreuve comprendra trois étapes réparties en trois journées, avec en plus une course féminine et une cyclosportive en parallèle.

1re étapeDépart de la ville côtière de Bridlington et arrivée 174 km plus au nord le long du littoral à Scarborough. Les coureurs traverseront les spectaculaires paysages côtiers et le décor impressionnant des North York Moors. Une magnifique étape pour débuter le Tour de Yorkshire.

2e étapeLa course débutera à proximité de l’imposante abbaye de Selby pour se diriger vers Market Weighton, en serpentant le long des Yorkshire Wolds, à Beverley puis en direction de Stamford Bridge avant d’en terminer dans l’historique ville de York.

3e étapeUne étape corsée pour les coureurs qui s’élanceront de la maison de la sculpture qu’est devenue la ville de Wakefield. Cette étape proposera également un passage par Barnsley avant les ascensions de six côtes difficiles et répertoriées au classement du meilleur grimpeur, dont The Cow & Calf, avant de traverser Roundhay Park à Leeds pour l’arrivée finale.

Scarborough’s stunning scenery, glorious beaches and colourful history have brought people flocking to the town for the past 400 years. Au cœur du Yorkshire, Selby a toujours joué un rôle prépondérant dans le développement industriel de la région, grâce à l’ouverture du canal de Selby au 18e siècle ou encore comme lieu de la toute première station de chemin de fer du Yorkshire en 1834. La ville a accueilli de nombreuses industries comprenant notamment la construction de navire ou l’extrac-tion de charbon. Une sculpture du parc de la cité dépeint la variété des métiers en montrant un moine, un meunier, un marin et un mineur. Le joyau de Selby est sans nul doute sa magnifique abbaye. Fondée en 1069, l’abbaye est le lieu de naissance du roi Henry 1er. Elle fut fondée par un moine venu d’Auxerre en France, après qu’il ait vu trois cygnes se poser sur une rivière, un signe de Dieu. Les cygnes sont depuis devenus le symbole de la ville. L’abbaye domine le charmant marché de la ville qui a tant à offrir aux visiteurs, tout particulièrement aux cyclistes amateurs. La ville est au carrefour de la Trans Pennine Trail, un itinéraire vélocipédique autour de la Grande Bretagne et sert de camp de base avant d’accéder à un fantastique terrain cycliste. A culture lovers dream, Wakefield has become an international centre for sculpture, and is home to two internationally important galleries, The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park – one of the largest open air galleries in Europe spanning over 500 acres. Heritage here is plentiful – Wakefield Cathedral boasts the tallest spire in Yorkshire dominating the city’s skyline at 247ft and is almost 600 years old. The area’s mining heritage is celebrated at the National Coal Mining Museum for England, one of the oldest working coal mines in the country. The area has a strong sporting legacy with Europe’s longest continuous flat horse racing course in Pontefract and three Rugby League teams: Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers. Wakefield is famous for growing Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb which has European protected name status. Visitors can try a tour of the growing sheds where you can actually hear the rhubarb grow. Over 120,000 visitors flock to the Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb in February each Year.

article 1. organisationThe 1st TOUR DE YORKSHIRE (TDY) is organised by Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) and Welcome to Yorkshire (WTY) under the regulations of the International Cycling Federation (UCI) and British Cycling (BC). It will take place from Friday 1st May to Sunday 3rd May in 3 stages.

article 2. type of eventThe event is reserved for riders from the Men’s Elite (ME) and U.23 (MU) Categories. It is a Class 1 event registered on the European Continental Calendar, and awards points for the UCI rankings according to article 2.11.014 of the UCI regulations.

article 3. ParticipationIn accordance with article 2.1.005 of the UCI regulations, the event is open to UCI World Teams, UCI Continental Professional teams, UCI Continental teams and national teams.In accordance with article 2.2.003 of the UCI regulations, the number of cyclists per team is restricted to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8. The mere fact of entering and/or participating in the event implies that each team fully accepts all the provisions laid out in these specific regulations and undertakes to respect them.

article 4. race headquartersThe race headquarters will be open on Thursday 30th April from 2.30 pm to 6 pm in York:Race Course, Tadcaster RoadYO23 1EX – United KingdomLicence-holding team managers will be able to collect race numbers from 2.30 pm to 4.45 pm.The team managers’ meeting, in the presence of members of the Stewards’ Committee, will be held at 5 pm at the race headquarters.

article 5. radio-tourInformation on the race will be broadcast using the frequency of 171.9375 MHz.

article 6. Neutral technical supportNeutral technical support is provided by Mavic, with 2 vehicles and 1 motorbike.

article 7. finishing deadlines

The finishing deadlines will be the winner’s time plus 12% on each of the stages.

article 8. BonusesTime bonuses, applied only to the general individual classification, are awarded for the stages and the intermediate sprints according to article 2.6.019 of the UCI regulations.• For each of the intermediate sprints: 3 – 2 – 1 second

article 9. general individual time classification

The general individual time classification is established by adding together the times recorded for each stage, taking bonuses and penalties into consideration, in accordance with article 2.6.014. of the UCI regulations.the leader of the general individual time classification shall wear the yellow and blue jersey.

article 10. Points classificationA points classification is established by adding together the points obtained at the finish of each of the 3 stages as well as the intermediate sprints in accordance with article 2.6.017.of the UCI regulations.the leader of the points classification shall wear the green jersey.Points for the 2 intermediate sprints in each stage will be awarded as follows:5 – 3 – 1 point (s) to the first 3 riders.The following points are awarded for each finish: 15 – 12 – 9 –7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 - 2 and 1 points to the first 10 riders.In the event of a tie in the general points classification, the following criteria shall be applied in order until the riders are separated:1) the number of stage wins;2) the number of wins in intermediate sprints;3) the general time classification.Prize money awarded for the points classification is as follows:• for each sprint the 1st rider will receive: €200 • for the final general classification, the first rider will receive: €3,000

article 11. Best climber classification

A best climber classification is established by adding together the points obtained on all of the 13 climbs which count towards this classification.the leader of the best climber classification shall wear the dark pink jersey.The following points are awarded for each of the 13 climbs:• 5 – 3- 2 – 1 point (s) to the first 4 riders.• In accordance with article 2.6.017 of the UCI

regulations, in the event of a tie in the general classification, the following criteria shall be applied in order until the riders are separated:

• the number of 1st places in the climbs;• the general individual time classification.To be entitled to final general classification prize money, competitors have to complete the entire race within the official time limit.

Prize money awarded for the best climber classification is as follows:• for each climb the 1st rider will receive: €200• for the final general classification, the 1st rider will

receive: €3,000

article 12. most aggressive rider prizeThe most aggressive rider prize is awarded to the rider who has made the greatest effort and who has demonstrated the best qualities in terms of sportsmanship. According to the stage, a jury presided over by the race director will establish a list of riders. article 13. team classificationIn accordance with article 2.6.016 of the UCI regulations, the daily team classification is established by adding together the three best individual times from each team. In the event of a tie, the teams shall be separated by adding together the number of places obtained by their three best placed riders in the stage. If the teams are still tied, they shall be separated by the place obtained by their best rider in the stage classification.

The team general classification is established by adding together the three best individual times from each team in the three stages. article 15. fight against doping- anti-doping testsA.S.O. and each of the participating teams declare it an absolute obligation to scrupulously respect the regulations and procedures decreed by the relevant authorities governing the fight against doping, as well as the obligation to maintain a strictly irreproachable line of conduct in this domain. Participating teams hereby commit to applying the aforementioned regulations and procedures and shall be entirely responsible for the strict adherence to these regulations by their riders and more generally, by all their staff and service providers.Anti-doping tests are carried out under the authority of the International Cycling Union and designated officials at the finish of each stage in the organisation’s trailer.

article 18. the environmentA.S.O. sets up collection areas which are specifically designated to recover waste. Riders must only dispose of their waste, water bottles or any other object in these specially equipped areas.Riders and followers must behave responsibly with regards to the environment in all circumstances and respect the legal provisions in force.

article 19. contestation- exclusion20.1. A.S.O. considers the preservation of its image, its reputation and that of its event of the utmost consequence.A.S.O. expressly reserves the right to refuse participation in - or to exclude from - the event, any team or members of a team, whose presence shall seriously blemish the image and/or reputation of A.S.O. and/or the event.

20.2. Furthermore, A.S.O. may exclude from the event any team or any of its members in the following cases:• a breach of the event’s rules, including those

concerning the event’s internal rules (e.g. the rules concerning accommodation);

• a serious breach of British law;• acts of vandalism committed in the race or outside

the race;• indecent attire or inappropriate behaviour;• any other act or deed which is liable to damage the

image and/or the reputation of A.S.O. and/or of the Tour de Yorkshire.

article 1. organisationLe 1er TOUR DE YORKSHIRE (TDY) est organisé par Amaury Sport Organisation (A.S.O.) et Welcome to Yorkshire (WTY) sous les règlements de l’Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) et de Bristish Cycling (BC). Il se déroule du vendredi 1er mai au dimanche 3 mai en 3 étapes en ligne.

article 2. type d’épreuveL’épreuve est réservée aux coureurs de la catégorie Hommes Élite (ME) et Hommes U23 (MU). Elle est inscrite au calendrier continental européen en classe 1 et attribue des points aux classements de l’UCI conformément à l’article 2.11.014 du règlement de l’UCI.

article 3. ParticipationConformément à l’article 2.1.005 du règlement de l’UCI, l’épreuve est ouverte aux équipes UCI WorldTeams, aux Continentales Professionnelles UCI, aux Continentales UCI et aux équipes nationales.Conformément à l’article 2.2.003 du règlement de l’UCI, le nombre de coureurs par équipe est de 5 au minimum et de 8 au maximum.Du seul fait de son engagement et/ou de sa participation à l’épreuve, chaque équipe déclare accepter l’intégralité des dispositions du présent règlement particulier et s’engage à les respecter.

article 10. classement par pointsUn classement par points est établi par l’addition des points obtenus à l’arrivée de chacune des 3 étapes ainsi que dans les sprints intermédiaires selon l’article 2.6.017 du règlement de l’UCI.le leader du classement par points porte le maillot vert. Il est attribué dans chacun des 2 sprints intermédiaires disputés lors de chaque étape :5 – 3 – 1 points aux 3 premiers coureurs classés.Il est attribué à chaque arrivée : 15 – 12 – 9 – 7 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 points aux 10 premiers coureurs classés.

Dès la sélection finalisée par le jury, une Twitter Voting card sera ensuite mise en ligne depuis le compte Twitter du Tour de Yorkshire (www.twitter.com/letouryorkshire). Via cette Voting Card, tout compte Twitter pourra voter pour le coureur le plus combatif de l’étape, parmi les coureurs appartenant à cette liste. En cas d’impossibilité de vote sur les réseaux sociaux pour une quelconque raison, le jury établissant la liste des coureurs désignera directement le plus combatif. Le plus combatif de l’étape porte le maillot gris et vert.Le prix attribué au classement du jour est à chaque étape, au 1er : 1 000€

article 15. lutte contre le dopage – contrôle antidopageA.S.O. et chacune des équipes participantes considèrent comme de nécessité absolue le respect scrupuleux des règles et recommandations édictées par les instances compétentes en matière de lutte contre le dopage ainsi que l’obligation d’observer une conduite totalement irréprochable à cet égard. Les équipes participantes s’engagent à appliquer lesdites règles et recommandations et seront pleinement responsables de leur parfait respect par leurs coureurs et plus généralement par tous leurs salariés et prestataires.Le contrôle antidopage s’effectue sous l’autorité de l’UCI par les officiels désignés, à l’arrivée de chaque étape, dans le mobil-home de l’organisation.

article 18. environnementA.S.O. met en place des zones de collecte destinées à la récupération des déchets. Les coureurs ne peuvent jeter leurs déchets, bidons et tout autre objet que dans ces zones aménagées.Les coureurs et les suiveurs doivent adopter en toutes circonstances un comportement responsable vis-à-vis de l’environnement dans le respect des dispositions légales en vigueur

article 19. récusation-exclusion20.1. A.S.O. tient pour essentielle la préservation de son image, de sa réputation et de celles de l’épreuve.A.S.O. se réserve expressément la faculté de refuser la participation à – ou d’exclure de – l’épreuve, une équipe ou l’un de ses membres, dont la présence serait de nature à porter atteinte à l’image et/ou à la réputation d’A.S.O. et/ou de l’épreuve.

20.2. En outre, A.S.O. pourra récuser ou exclure de l’épreuve une équipe ou l’un de ses membres dans les cas suivants :• infraction aux règles de l’épreuve, y compris celles

concernant la discipline interne à l’épreuve (règles concernant l’hébergement par exemple) ;

• infraction grave à la loi du Royaume-Uni ;• acte de vandalisme perpétré en course ou hors

course ;• tenue indécente ou comportement inconvenant ;• tout autre acte ou fait qui serait de nature à porter

atteinte à l’image et/ou à la réputation d’A.S.O. et/ou du Tour De Yorkshire.
