After arriving at the spice farm, you will first receive a short introduction in how to cook Swahili style with our many spices - Swahili cooking at its best!! Then you will enjoy a delicious fruit tasting from fruits harvested on the farm and a tour through the farm learning about each and every spice you can find on Zanzibar. You wouldn’t believe it if you haven’t seen it for yourself; did you know that the Cinnamon Tree has 3 different smells? After you have finished your tour, fully packed with nature’s secrets, you will have time to buy spices, soaps and crèmes which are all hand made by the community within the farm and also enjoy a free lesson on traditional weaving.

The beautiful Zanzibar Butterfly Centre near Jozani - Chwaka Bay National Park, contains all native species of Zanzibar. Butterfly farming in Zanzibar requires intact forest, thus providing an economic incentive to conserve habitats. Zanzibari women have the rare opportunity to participate, as farming can be carried out at home fitted around childcare and domestic duties. Feed the butterflies and watch them fly close at hand while enjoying the peace and quiet of nature.
JOZANI FOREST – our jungle and our unique monkeys
After a further 3-minute drive you arrive at Jozani National Park. During a guided journey through the forest you will quickly learn about the different species of monkeys unique to Zanzibar (and yes, without a thumb). After your forest tour and a short hop to the other side of the national park, there is an opportunity to uncover the magical world of the Zanzibari Mangroves. A walk along the wooden trail and you will see thousands of crabs at work under the mangroves and if you are lucky you might even be able to hear the mangroves talking. See for yourself.

You will also head a little further Southeast to a beautiful beach club right opposite of the world famous “The Rock”! Relax and unwind on a superb beach. Take some pictures of this unique place, chill with the amazing view of the coral formations and have lunch if you want before you turn back around towards your hotel.

Prison Island is so called because of its first usage as a prison, which was built in 1893. But in fact it was later used as a quarantine hospital and is nowadays the home of the giant tortoises which were banned from the city of Stone Town. Enjoy a 30-minute boat ride with a view of the Stone Town skyline, after arriving on Prison Island your guide will teach you the history and introduce you to the giant tortoises.

This is a truly unique experience!! Tumbatu is one of Zanzibar’s best kept secrets, as the vast majority is forbidden to set foot on the Island. To enter the island you need special permission from the elders of the community on Tumbatu. People called the Watumbatu – the inhabitants of Tumbatu - aloof and unfriendly, just because they are living as a very close self-supporting community. You will not find cars or scooters here and Tumbatu has only one road to walk on within the island, even though they are living on the island where in the 11th century the Shiraz built the first stone building in the entire Zanzibar Archipelago.
MAALE - Sandbank
Leaving from Mkokotoni by boat you are heading to the fishing territories of the Watumbatu, the citizens of Tumbatu. One of the oldest fishermen within the Watumbatu will show out at sea, towards the sandbank of Tumbatu how they fish with nets and traps. Fishing is the major revenue of the island, though the Watumbatu do not eat too much fish themselves. They trade their fish in the nearby fishing village Mkokotoni. After you have witnessed the special techniques of the Watumbatu, who have the reputation of being the best sailors in the region, you move on and head towards the village of Jongowe, on the South of Tumbatu Island.
JONGOWE – learn the Watumbatu life
After arriving at the beach of Jongowe, you will see how the Watumbatu prepare their fishing nets, fish traps and also how they build and maintain their boats – all by hand! In a short walk you will arrive at the school of Jongowe and learn about the founder of the school and the importance of the huge and old Baobab trees to the community. You will see the difference between new and old sections of the village and you will visit the house of a fisherman’s family. We will show you the unspoken secrets of Tumbatu, as they are world famous for witchcraft.

Please note that you may have to walk knee deep in the sea, while entering the boat or reaching the island, depending on the tides. Therefore
• You need waterproof shoes and clothes which can be wet, but no beach wear!
The Watumbatu are very religious and do not accept our type of clothes.
• You have to wear a Kanga around your hip and for women a scarf/ kanga to cover your hair! NOT allowed is beachwear or shoulder free T-shirts! Best are wide trousers or a long pair of shorts with a Polo Shirt or T-shirt!
As we are almost the whole time on or near the sea without a shade, sun protection and a hat are very important!

Leaving from Fumba, which is in the South East and still a very untouched and remote area in Zanzibar, you will head on a trip in traditional wooden dhows towards your first snorkel stop. On the way you will hopefully meet dolphins, playing around in the shallow Marine Park of Menai Bay. After enjoying the beautiful underwater world of Zanzibar with your snorkelling guide you head towards a second snorkelling stop. The reefs surrounding the sand bank are your second snorkelling trip; the underwater world will seem very different compared to your first stop. SNORKELING - Mnemba Kitchwani Coral Reef
After heading with your dhow from Kendwa to the stunning Mnemba Atoll and with every possibility of dolphins on the way, you will stop at Mnemba Kitchwani Reef for your first snorkelling stop. This amazing reef, with steep slopes offers some great underwater topography and a chance to see amazing corals and a lot of fish. A snorkelling session takes roughly 45-60 minutes. A snorkel guide is of course also in the water, pointing out all of the little camouflage and the tricks most people’s eyes miss.
SNORKELING – Mnemba Coral Gardens
After a 20 minutes boat travel from Kitchwani Reef you will arrive at the Mnemba Coral Gardens. Here you will snorkel for 45 minutes to 1 hour. These coral gardens are home to many species of aquarium fish and stunning soft and hard corals.
LUNCH – Mouth-watering BBQ at Muyuni Beach
After your second snorkelling trip you are heading from Mnemba Atoll to the opposite side, an area called Muyuni Beach.
