Russian folk costumes were usually of bright colours. Women wore long-sleeved dresses with a belt. The dresses were decorated with a variety of golden embroidery.

The kokoshnik, an ancient Russian headdress, was very popular.

Traditional Russian dresses were made of linen and cotton.

Nowadays, this costume can be seen on a stage during different folk festivals. It can also be used in theatrical performances.
