FOWM #240 DEAR FRIEND OF WORLD MISSION: e Covenant Church in Mozambique (CCM) is thriving as it bears witness to the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed throughout the country. As CCM has focused on evangelism and church development, more than 60 churches have emerged in central and northern Mozambique. CCM is working hard to train leaders, evangelists, and pastors, but it has been difficult to keep up! It needs help in training and equipping leaders to accommodate the growth. Most of the churches in Mozambique are located in small, isolated communities, and the pastors and leaders usually have little experience with the Bible. is project will provide resources—including audio Bibles in indigenous languages—to develop, train, and equip these leaders to teach Bible and theology, lead Sunday-school classes, and train the church in evangelism and discipleship. is leadership training program is designed to be two weeks at a time so that leaders will not be away from their families for too long. Transportation will be provided to participants. Your prayers and gifts today toward FOWM Project #240 will go toward the goal of assisting our partners in Mozambique in this leadership training program. e project will impact the congregations and their communities as leaders become better equipped to lead the way in living righteously, acting justly, loving mercy, and sharing the story of God’s love in Jesus Christ. ank you for partnering with these congregations as they continue to grow in missional health as well as in numbers. FOWM #240

DEAR FRIEND OF WORLD MISSION:

e Covenant Church in Mozambique (CCM) is thriving as it bears witness to the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed throughout the country. As CCM has focused on evangelism and church development, more than 60 churches have emerged in central and northern Mozambique. CCM is working hard to train

leaders, evangelists, and pastors, but it has been diffi cult to keep up!

For the sake of the whole gospel,

Outreach Center in Argentina

Pastor Francisco Iván Carrasco Andahur, president of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Argentina (IPEA), expresses deep gratitude for the support received toward building a community outreach center. He reports that all materials have been purchased and they are prepared to begin construction. IPEA has continued serving the community by welcoming children on Saturdays for games, sports, the word of God, and snacks.

Testimonies

GOD HAS ENTRUSTED US with many churches in Mozambique’s interior. Our vision is to walk with the pastors of these churches and continue bringing them biblical training through the school of theology. We can already see the diff erence this training is making in the lives of pastors who previously knew very little of God’s word. ese

pastors go on to use what they are learning to train and strengthen their church leaders as they plant new churches. is training is our primary means of growing and building healthy churches in Mozambique.

Pastors John and Maria Jone, president and vice president of Life Covenant Church Mozambique and directors of MINEVE Ministries

I HAVE BEEN PASTORING for more than 18 years in Chimoio. I see now that I was leading and caring for God’s people in the dark. From the moment I entered the school, I felt diff erent. I now teach and give advice diff erently, bringing the word of God into everything. When I teach God’s word now, the people are changed and interact in a more Christ-

like way. Our people are maturing and growing in their faith.

e audio Bible is helping those who cannot read and blesses the whole church. On Sundays before the beginning of the service, we listen to the word of God while people are coming in. e brothers and sisters have begun to arrive early just so they can hear more of the Bible. We also use the audio Bible when we go out to open a small group and have already planted one more church by using the audio Bible.

Pastor Daniel Castamo

GOD ENTRUSTED ME with a great mission and a great work. I am the coordinator of 35 churches in the Mutarara region of Mozambique and oversee the pastors of this area. Before the theology school, I felt as if I were groping in the dark without any sense of direction. e churches I was leading felt like a heavy burden. Now I feel very diff erent

and I see a diff erence in our churches. A member of my church told me after a Sunday-school class that he noticed a great diff erence in my way of leading the class since I began attending the theology school.
