    Describe the general trend

    In the period between Feb 1999 and Jan2000, an upward trend was recorded in thegrowth rate of retail sales peaking at x% atthe end of the observed period. Having

    reached a low towards the end of January1999, retail sales started rising inFebruary, slipped back in March andremained stable at X% throughout April. Asharp increase to X% is visible in early May

    followed by an abrupt drop to X% in June.Retail sales climbed back to X% in July.They went up mildly in August andcontinued rising in September.
