Mother pleads in death of daughter, 3

Candice Nicole Boles pleaded

guilty to a first-degree cruelty to

children charge, a felony, and to sec-

ond-degree cruelty to children, ad-

mitting she played a role in the death

of her 3-year-old daughter, Andraia

Boles, in February 2013.

Doug Snider, who was

a Hinesville police detective during

the murder investigation and trial of

co-defendant Torres Boles, testified

that Candice Boles was aware of the

injuries her husband had inflicted on

the little girl, yet did nothing to stop

the beating.

Torres Boles was sentenced to life

in prison without parole after he was

found guilty of the crime in Septem-

ber.The trial outlined the story of the

girl kept locked in the bathroom for

hours every day for several months.

The night before the girl was found

unresponsive, her father reprimand-

ed her for stuffing a toilet with tissue

and flooding a substantial portion

of the house. The punishment was

a severe beating from Torres Boles,

which resulted in the girl’s death.

On the stand Monday, Snider

said Candice Boles had confessed to

Hinesville police Detective Tracey

Howard that she had seen her daugh-

ter’s forehead and eyes swollen.

Carolina, reportedly confessed to

the horrific act and, in doing so,

told police he wanted to start a race

war.Instead, as shown by the out-

pouring of forgiveness from family

members of those gunned down

during a Bible study June 17 at the

historic church and at gatherings

such as a prayer vigil held Sunday

afternoon at Bethel AME Church

in Hinesville, it appears the imme-

diate response is unity and forgive-

ness, not division and strife.

After an opening song and mes-

sage, the Bethel prayer vigil start-

ed with a solemn reading of the

names of all nine who were slain in

A standout Wayne County

High School baseball player died

in a wreck Saturday afternoon as

he was traveling to Georgia South-

ern University, Long County Sher-

iff Craig Nobles said.

J.D. Paul, 18, was driving on

Highway 301 when his vehicle col-

lided with a logging

truck between mile

markers 18 and 19 in

Long County shortly

after 2 p.m., Nobles

said.Georgia State Pa-

trol Trooper Chris Palmer said a

witness to the accident stated that

he was traveling northbound on

301 when, for an unknown reason,

traffic began to slow down. The

witness told Palmer that as he was

looking in his rearview mirror, he

saw a red Mustang, driven by Paul,

enter the southbound lane.

The witness told Palmer that

Paul over-corrected the Mustang

and tried to re-enter the north-

bound lane.

4th candidate enters Hinesville mayoral race

Danny Eason, a business

owner and church pastor,

announced he is running for

mayor of Hinesville.

Danny Eason, pas-

tor of Crossroads Church

and owner of Uncommon

Grounds, is the latest to an-

nounce his bid to be Hines-

ville’s next mayor.

“We need leadership with

vision and practical ideas to

lead the way forward,” he

said. “A leader with an abil-

ity to dream of the future

and who can build a consen-

sus and teamwork in order

to organize that dream into

completion.

“For that reason,” he said,

“I’m announcing my can-

didacy for mayor of Hines-

ville.” Eason was born in Sa-

vannah and raised in Gum

Branch, but he considers

himself a Hinesvillian. He

was homeschooled through

high school. At 19, he joined

the U.S. Air Force and served

for two years as an image an-

alyst in Omaha, Nebraska.

After he left the military,

he returned home to Hines-

ville to be with family and

the city he loves.

He worked several jobs,

“but at the age of 22, I took

a position as pastor at Faith

Baptist Church here in

Hinesville. And I’ve pastored

that church. We’ve now be-

come Crossroads Church.

Same church with a different

name. And so I’ve done that

for the past 10 years,” Eason

said.Eason, 32, recently be-

came owner of the down-

town staple Uncommon

Grounds, a coffee shop that

also sells sandwiches and

baked goods.

“Most recently, Jenny

and Drew (Cole), when they

decided to sell Uncommon

Grounds, approached me

and asked if we would like

to buy it. And we went from

there,” he said.

Eason has been married

to his wife, Jessie, for eight

years.
