Dear Biathlon Friends,

L’Association des clubs biathlon du Québec (ACBQ) is pleased to invite you to participate in the 2012 Canadian Biathlon Championships at the Myriam Bédard Center at CFB Valcartier, Québec from March 14-18, 2012. The events will run concurrently on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Quebec Divisions objectives are to organize events for the strongest athletes from across Canada and the United States of America and to ensure that when these athletes return home, they will do so with the conviction of having participated in a well organized and fair championship with fond memories of their time spent in Quebec. In order to do so, the organizing committee has set up an Athlete’s Village. The Athletes Village will not only house the athletes, it will also hold the administrative offices for the duration of the events.

The banquet is mandatory for each participant (competitors, coaches, other member of Divisions and will be Saturday evening. We look forward to seeing you in Quebec City

RULES:

The event will be held in accordance with:

IBU Event and Competition Rules; Biathlon Canada Canadian Championships Hosting Policy, dated June 2011;

1.5 ADMISSIBILITY

In accordance with Biathlon Canada’s Admissibility Rules, all members shall posses a valid competitor card and they must be registered by their division. The competitors must present their valid card upon registration of the competition in order to participate in the events.

Team Registrations are due no later than 4:00 pm (EST), Monday, February 13, 2012.

Registrations by Name for team individuals and other competitors are due no later than 4:00 pm (EST), Monday, February 27, 2012.

Registration of all competitors must be in accordance with the IBU Rules. Registration may be made by email, mail or fax to:

Registration Forms

Copies of the registration forms by team and individual are enclosed.

Payment in Canadian funds or check, in advance sent to the Competition Office by mail, or in person at the Competition Office between 8h00 and 16h00 from Monday, March 12 to Wednesday, March 14.

Receipts upon request

Each Division is financially responsible for athlete registrations that were confirmed on the registration form and who did not compete. In such a case, a bill would be sent to the Division that represents the athlete. No refunds will be made.

A Biathlon Canada membership is required for all Canadian competitors and coaches. Canadian competitors must be registered with the Division for which they are competing. A national membership is required for all international athletes.

2.1 FOOD AND LODGING

The Athlete’s Village is located on the Campus Notre-Dame-de-Foy in close proximity to the Saint-Lawrence River at 5000 rue Clément-Lockquell, Saint Augustin-de Desmaures. The site is easy to access from the airport (10KM), at 30KM from the Myriam Bédard Biathlon Center and closed to Quebec City Center (15KM). The cost for all rooms include the 3 meals per day at the cafetreria:

1 – Rooms with double place without bathroom (on the floor) : 58.00 $ per person by day2 – Rooms with double place with bathroom in the room: 63.00 $ per person by day3 – Single room with bathroom in the room : 75$ per person by day4 – Suites are available at 78 $ per day (one per Division) without meals. ). If spaces permit, parents and athletes may make additional reservations.

As mentioned, one Suite will be prioritize for each Division. After that, first arrive first serve.

For supplementary meals, ticket will be available at the following cost:

Breakfast: 9.25 $Lunch: 10.00 $Dinner: 12.00 $

2.2 WAXING ROOMS

Waxing rooms will be allocated based on the number of competitors per Division and the availability of rooms. Keys may be picked-up during normal business hours from March 12-14, 2012 at the competition office with a $50.00 deposit. All keys will be returned to the competition office before 4:00 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2012. No additional fee will be required for the use of the waxing rooms. Waxing rooms must be left clean before departure.

2.4 TEAM MAILBOXES

The team mailboxes will be situated at the Athletes Village. Team captains will be responsible to regularly check their mailbox, as all written information from the organizing committee will be distributed there.

2.5 TEAM AND ATHLETE ACCREDIATION

Accreditation will be located at the athletes village, Campus Notre-Dame de Foy. Duringaccrediatation, coaches must be present with their athletes as well as their identification cards with photo and birthdates. Registration, meals and lodging fees will be paid at this time

Awards

Providing there are at least four competitors in a class, the competition class will be run. The first three finishers in all classes of competitions will receive awards.

COMPETITION

All events will be held at the Myriam Bédard Center. We have enclosed a trail map. The trails will be selected based on environmental feasibility i.e. sufficient snow. The exact outline of the courses will be distributed during official training and at the team captain’s meeting.
