FLC of M1 EVMs held STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: Before Local Bodies and Panchyat elections the First Level Checking (FLC) of M1 Electronic Voting Machines (M1 EVMs) was con- ducted at District Headquarters Ramban. Deputy Commissioner Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat, who is also District Election Officer, said that engineers from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) conducted the FLC of control units and ballot units available at the EVM strong room. FLC was conducted under foolproof security arrangements to EVM in the presence of representatives of political parties and ENT Hashim Din at the time of checking. On this occasion, details of FLC was given to the representatives of political par- ties along with technical infor- mation such as cleaning of EVM, function check, mock poll, data update, symbol load- ing etc. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Director of Agriculture, Jammu H. K Razdan launched E-Plant Clinics for Rajouri and Udhampur Districts on the con- cluding day of Seven Days Training Programme of Plant Doctors which has been organ- ised by Department of Agriculture Jammu in collabo- ration with Centre for Agriculture and Bioscience International (CABI) under Plantwise Programme. Speaking on the occasion Razdan said that there is need to widen the scope of ongoing E- Plant Clinics to uncovered dis- tricts of the Jammu Division to mitigate the insect pests, dis- ease and deficiencies problems of various agricultural crops. He impressed upon the officers of department and CABI to educate the farmers regarding adverse effects of indiscriminate use of pesticides and their resid- ual effect. He further asked the Plant Doctors to work on differ- ent aspects of the pest manage- ment including data collection, online validation, analysis and issuance of regular advisories for recommendations. R. L. Bhagat, Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension) on the occasion said that the online data generated through these E-Plant Clinics will be very use- ful for the forecasting the pest incidence and to take preventive measures at the appropriate time. Bulesh Zutshi, Joint Director, SLUB stressed on the active involvement of the farm- ers, regular updation and alter- native Second line back-up of Plant Doctors to achieve the objectives of this programme. Earlier while presenting the preview of Plantwise pro- gramme Ganeshamoorthy Rajenderan, Country Co-ordi- nator, CABI, South Asia wel- comed Director Agriculture and briefed him about the pro- gramme and informed that about 28 new officers are being trained as Plant Doctors. R. K. Bindroo, Agriculture Chemist, Jammu presented overview of the different activi- ties undertaken and said that this programme is being extend- ed to two new districts namely Rajouri and Udhampur through the establishment of 8 new Plant Clinics. Susheel Kumar, SMS (SDL) and Arun Khajuria AEO, Plant Health Clinic Jammu partici- pated as Resource Persons. The E-launch of new Plant Clinics was attended by Sunil Koul, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Trainings), Jammu, Jagmohan Bhat, Officiating Deputy Director (Central), Jammu, Ashok Verma, Officiating CAO Udhampur, S. K. Langer, ADO Jammu, Balbir Singh, SMS (II), Rajouri, Ashwani Kotwal, Assistant Soil Chemist, J.C. Raina, Agriculture Information Officer, Anil Bakshi, Assistant Bio-Chemist, Vikas Sharma, AEO Information and others. Daisy Bhan, Assistant Agriculture Chemist Jammu conducted the proceedings of the programme and presented the vote of thanks on the occasion. STATE TIMES NEWS KATRA: A condolence meeting was held at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra on Monday in the Central Courtyard for late Jai Karan, Workshop Operator who untimely passed away on August 17, 2018 in a tragic road acci- dent. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: In order to provide basic amenities to the inhabitants of village Jakhani and other villages along the National Highway, the District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar convened a meeting with Project Director National Highway Authority of India in his Office Chamber here today, to discuss the issues pertain- ing to construction of sub- ways/under pass on crossing points and retaining wall along with the sides of National Highway between Phalata to Chenani Nashri tunnel as required due to widening of NH. The DDC directed the Project Director NHAI to construct foot bridges at Bharat Nagar and protec- tion walls along steep slopes of National Highway to avoid any mishap, sideways at Thanda Padder Gole Mela and construct under- pass at accident prone area at Sangoor Chowk. He directed the concerned officers to remove the bottle- necks and sort out the issues pertaining to their respec- tive departments on priority. DDC asked the Project Director NHAI to start work on above mentioned points immediately. Army organises Quami Ekta meeting DDC conducts meeting for resolving urgent issues of NH DDC Udhampur Ravinder Kumar chairing a meeting. Farmers awareness camp organised at Pagge Dansal STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Department of Horticulture Jammu on Monday organ- ized an awareness camp at Pagge Dansal under the chairmanship of Director Horticulture Jammu, Anuradha Gupta. About 250 farmers from different areas of the block along with Panchs and Sarpanchs participated in the programme. While addressing the farmers, Director Horticulture Jammu advised them to come forward and take benefits from various schemes being initiated by the department. She asked them to work in an organized way by making Farmers Producers Organizations (FPO's). She also directed the Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu to organize a fruit and vegetable preservation training programme for the women of the area and provide subsidy to the interested farm- ers for establishing low cost preservation units. She stressed that if farmers require any kind of financial help regarding development of these units they should come forward and the department will help them in taking the finance from different banks. She also stressed upon to plant more and more fruit trees and adoption of latest fruit cultivation techniques. On the occasion more than 500 fruit plants of different high yielding varieties were also distributed to the farm- ers free of cost. Besides, an exhibition of different machines and tools was also made for the farmers. Horticulture Development Officer Dansal Sh. Pardeep Kumar Dingra was also present in this occasion. In the end Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu conveyed heartiest thanks to the Director Horticulture Jammu and the participants on the occasion. Final training for polling staff held at Kargil STATE TIMES NEWS KARGIL: Final Training for Presiding Officers (POs) and Polling Officers nominated for 4th General Elections to the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil was held at Auditorium Hall, Kargil on Monday. The Election Observers including Rajesh Sharma, Pradeep Kumar, Abdul Rashid War and Bilal Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer (LAHDC) Kargil (Election Authority), Vikas Kundal, Superintendent of Police Kargil, Dr Pawan Kumar and other concerned officers were present on the occasion. KRazdan launched E-PlantClinics for Rajouri andUdhampur Districts on the con-cluding day of Seven DaysTraining Programme of PlantDoctors which has been organ-ised by Department ofAgriculture Jammu in collabo-ration with Centre forAgriculture and BioscienceInternational (CABI) underPlantwise Programme.

Speaking on the occasionRazdan said that there is needto widen the scope of ongoing E-Plant Clinics to uncovered dis-tricts of the Jammu Division tomitigate the insect pests, dis-ease and deficiencies problemsof various agricultural crops.He impressed upon the officersof department and CABI toeducate the farmers regardingadverse effects of indiscriminateuse of pesticides and their resid-ual effect. He further asked thePlant Doctors to work on differ-ent aspects of the pest manage-ment including data collection,online validation, analysis andissuance of regular advisoriesfor recommendations.

R. L. Bhagat, Joint Directorof Agriculture (Extension) onthe occasion said that the onlinedata generated through theseE-Plant Clinics will be very use-ful for the forecasting the pest

incidence and to take preventivemeasures at the appropriatetime. Bulesh Zutshi, JointDirector, SLUB stressed on theactive involvement of the farm-ers, regular updation and alter-native Second line back-up ofPlant Doctors to achieve theobjectives of this programme.

Earlier while presenting thepreview of Plantwise pro-gramme GaneshamoorthyRajenderan, Country Co-ordi-nator, CABI, South Asia wel-comed Director Agriculture andbriefed him about the pro-gramme and informed thatabout 28 new officers are beingtrained as Plant Doctors.

JAMMU: Department of Horticulture Jammu on Monday organ-ized an awareness camp at Pagge Dansal under the chairmanshipof Director Horticulture Jammu, Anuradha Gupta. About 250farmers from different areas of the block along with Panchs andSarpanchs participated in the programme.

While addressing the farmers, Director Horticulture Jammuadvised them to come forward and take benefits from variousschemes being initiated by the department. She asked them to workin an organized way by making Farmers Producers Organizations(FPO's). She also directed the Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu toorganize a fruit and vegetable preservation training programme forthe women of the area and provide subsidy to the interested farm-ers for establishing low cost preservation units. She stressed that iffarmers require any kind of financial help regarding development ofthese units they should come forward and the department will helpthem in taking the finance from different banks. She also stressedupon to plant more and more fruit trees and adoption of latest fruitcultivation techniques. On the occasion more than 500 fruit plantsof different high yielding varieties were also distributed to the farm-ers free of cost. Besides, an exhibition of different machines andtools was also made for the farmers.

Horticulture Development Officer Dansal Sh. Pardeep KumarDingra was also present in this occasion. In the end ChiefHorticulture Officer Jammu conveyed heartiest thanks to theDirector Horticulture Jammu and the participants on the occasion.

KARGIL: Final Training for Presiding Officers (POs) and PollingOfficers nominated for 4th General Elections to the LadakhAutonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil was heldat Auditorium Hall, Kargil on Monday.

The Election Observers including Rajesh Sharma, PradeepKumar, Abdul Rashid War and Bilal Ahmad, Deputy Commissionerand Chief Executive Officer (LAHDC) Kargil (Election Authority),Vikas Kundal, Superintendent of Police Kargil, Dr Pawan Kumarand other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The training was imparted to 370 POs and Polling Officers in 1stshift while as 300 POs and Polling Officers was imparted trainingin the 2nd shift.
