Aplication:
The engine is one of the updated versions of AI-25TL production engine installed in L-39 and JL-8 trainers. It can be installed in combat-trainer versions of these aircraft, and is adapted for powering other existing trainers, combat-trainers, and those under development to be used as light attack aircraft. In this connection a combat power rating with enhanced maximum thrust for strike combat operations was introduced, and engine acceleration time was substantially reduced.

At the Customer's demand the engine can be modified to be automatically controlled by a FADEC-type system.
