C h u rch N e w s Centro Corazón De María

We are an agency serving the Latino community in Hampton Bays, seeking a Project Coordinator for the “Excluded Worker Fund.” Project Coordinator will inform and sign up excluded workers for a new New York State benefit designated solely for “excluded workers” meaning, New York State residents who lost work during the pandemic but were ineligible for unemployment benefits. This full time, yearlong position offers generous salary and health care benefits. Email [email protected], text 631-500-0715 or check Facebook: centro corazon de maria for full job description.

Our Lady Rosary Makers We invite you to join in our ministry of making rosaries

to send to the missions around the world, and for our own parish. We meet every Wednesday evening during July and August, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Hall. Please join us for some creative fun and fellowship. For additional information please contact Teresa Drew at 631-728-6144.

Stewardship Reflection Despite the difficult teaching and the groups of disciples

who fell away, the Apostles stand strong in the Faith and understand that Jesus is the only way to salvation.

We can show that we are followers of Christ by performing good deeds for others. This week, perform at least one good act for someone in need.

St. Vincent de Paul Society Reflection In today’s Gospel, Jesus asks “Do you also

want to leave?” We must ask ourselves if we really want to hear the good news of his love for us and for others. Is the word of God able to break into our consciousness, change us and call us to hear the cries of the poor?

Lord, Teach Me To Pray is a three-part Ignatian prayer series developed to meet the desire for on-going spiritual growth; for an appropriate response to the call to holiness; and for a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord. In facilitated faith-sharing prayer communities, the Lord himself, teaches us to pray.

Part 1: Praying Christian Virtues Praying Christian Virtues will introduce you to the

meditative and contemplative way of prayer devised by Saint Ignatius of Loyola, enabling you to further develop your prayer life. This 12-week program is facilitated in a group setting, meets once a week, and requires fifteen minutes of daily prayer on assigned scriptures.

Part 2: My 19th Annotation My 19th Annotation consists of the entirety of the

well-known “Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius,” which has been adapted to accommodate contemporary pray-ers who cannot leave family for extended periods of time. This program is also facilitated in a group setting for those pray-ers, meets once a week and requires 45 minutes of daily prayer assigned from scriptures.

Part 3: Discernment and Gifts of the Spirit

Discernment and Gifts of the Spirit provides general theological catechesis of the Holy Spirit with emphasis on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, followed by an introduction to St. Ignatius’ Rules for discernment.

Our Lady of the Hamptons Principal Sister Kathy, the faculty, parent and student communities are

exceedingly grateful to the members of the parishes for the support, concern and prayers during the last year especially. Your parish regional school, Our Lady of the Hamptons, is preparing for the next school year. Enrollment is strong and excitement is high as we target September for the return of the full after-school athletics program to complement the religious, academic and Fine Arts programs.

While waiting list status is already operational in every grade level of the K-8 building in Southampton, interested families are urged to contact the school immediately if interested in being considered should space become available. Please call 631-283-9140.

The registration of new students in the four-year-old program of Pre-school at St. Rosalie’s campus in Hampton Bays for the September 2021 school year is now open. Interested parents are urged to consult the Admissions and Principal’s pages on www.olh.org for exact details. A personal interview with parent and child is required.

St. Vincent de Paul Society Walk for the Poor

The St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) group at St. Rosalie’s is having a “flexible” 5k walk/run as its only fundraiser of the year. Participants can either: 1) Join our SVdP group in walking Ponquogue Beach in Hampton Bays. We will meet in the beach parking lot at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 25; or 2) Do your walk/run at a time and place of your choosing any time that week. We encourage people to walk while contemplating the difficulties of those in need in our area, perhaps reciting the stations of the cross or the rosary as you go. Links to these prayers are available for printing on the parish website.

Parishioners and their families are encouraged to sign-up and/or donate at the link below which is also available on the parish website: https://runsignup.com/Race/93439/Donate/jw0P7OFPq1f9F2tV

Through the generous support of parishioners, we have been able to help our neighbors in need of financial assistance for things like rent and utility bills, medical expenses and other needs. We also provide a lot of non-financial support like meeting and praying with families to determine their needs and by things like obtaining furniture and driving people to medical appointments. Many of the people we support are the elderly, disabled, immigrants and single parents trying to make ends meet in challenging times. As a volunteer organization, we operate with no staff or overhead expenses, so your donations will go directly towards helping those in need. With the generous help of parishioners and other supporters, we have been able to provide over $50,000 in assistance over the past 5 years. Please help us continue our work which is so desperately needed in these times.

Thank you in advance for considering a donation to our team, or by also joining us in the walk/run.
