The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

And also with you.

Penitential Rite

My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.

I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault,

Page 4: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and

in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints,

and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Page 5: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

Amen.

Liturgy of the WordFirst Reading (Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4)

Habakkuk called out to the Lord: “O Lord, how long shall I cry for help, and you will not listen? Or cry to you ‘Violence!’ and you will not save? Why do you make me see

wrongdoing and look at trouble? Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it.

Page 9: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end, and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay. Look at the proud! Their spirit is not right in them, but the righteous live by their

faith.

The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Responsorial PsalmR. If today you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts. O come, let us sing to the Lord;

let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Page 12: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

R. If today you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts. O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Page 13: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

R. If today you hear God’s voice, harden not your hearts. O that today you would listen to his voice! Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your ancestors tested me, and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work.

Second Reading(2 Timothy 1;6-8, 13-14)

For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-

Page 15: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

discipline. Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God, Hold to the standard of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard

the good treasure entrusted to

you, with the help of the Holy

Spirit living in us.

GOSPEL The Lord be with you.And also with you.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.Glory to you Lord.

Page 19: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!’ The Lord replied, ‘If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea”, and it would obey you. ‘Who among you would say to your slave who has just come in from ploughing or tending sheep

in the field, “Come here at once and take your place at the table”? Would you not rather say to him, “Prepare supper for me, put on your apron and serve me while I eat and drink; later you may eat and drink”? Do you thank the slave for doing what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that you were

Page 21: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

ordered to do, say, “We are worthless slaves; we have done only what we ought to have done!” ’

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father, Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven;

by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died and was buried. On the third day He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures;

Page 27: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

He ascended into Heaven and is seated at the Right Hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and His kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,

PREFACE

Father, all-powerful and ever- living God, we do well always and everywhere to give you thanks through Jesus Christ our Lord. Through his cross and resurrection he freed us from sin and death and called us to the

glory that has made us a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart. Everywhere we proclaim your mighty works, for you have called us out of darkness into your own wonderful light. And so, with all the choirs of angles in heaven,we proclaim your glory and join in their unending hymn of praise:

Page 41: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Eucharistic Prayer II

Invocation of the Holy Spirit

Lord, you are holy indeed, the fountain of all holiness. Let your Spirit come upon these gifts to make them holy, so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Page 43: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

The Lord’ Supper

Before he was given up to

death, a death he freely

accepted, he took bread and

gave you thanks. He broke the

bread, gave it to his disciples,

and said:

Page 44: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

“Take this, all of you, and eat it:

this is my body which will be

given up for you.”

Page 45: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave you thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said:

Page 46: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

“Take this, all of you, and drink from it, this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

Page 47: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:

When we eat this bread,When we drink this cup,We proclaim your gloryUntil you come again.

Page 48: Twenty- Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time 3 Oct 2004.

In memory of his death and resurrection, we offer you, Father, this life-giving bread, this saving cup. We thank you for counting us worthy to stand in your presence and serve you. May all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.
