Kingdom of Happiness Study Program The third session in “The Kingdom of Happiness” DVD series with Father Jeffrey Kirby spoke about being meek. Our Lord showed many extremes of meekness, from forcefully casting out the money changers in the Temple, to showing tender compassion to sinners, to walking silently toward His cross and showing no hatred to His persecutors. Even when His actions might have seemed inconsistent, they were actually perfectly consistent, as they were all seeped in His meekness. Meekness is a disposition of the soul that allows us to know and accept our place before God and neighbor so that we can act justly according to each situation. More often than not, meekness calls us to be gentle in a world that is so often hostile, but it also implores us to stand up for what is right and display a quiet strength that never backs down. Feel free to attend the next “Kingdom of Happiness” class on either Monday, September 30, at 6:30PM, or Tuesday, October 1, at 10:00AM. The beatitude that will be discussed is “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matt 5:6)

32nd Annual Life Chain Sunday, October 6

It is that time of year again, where Ss. Cyril & Methodius hosts the annual Life Chain event with the support of Right to Life-LIFESPAN. Every year, people all over the nation gather together on the first Sunday of October at about the same time to peacefully protest against abortion. Wherever people drive by, we aim to be there on the grass with our signs, praying, singing, and witnessing so that their hearts may be turned to the truth. So please come with your whole family, with your friends, or even by yourself. Be a witness that human life is a gift, a reminder that adoption is an option, and a beacon of hope for a holier generation. The LIFE CHAIN takes place on Sunday, October 6, from 2:30PM-4:00PM on 18 Mile and Ryan, on the front lawn of Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church. Approved LIFE CHAIN signs will be provided by LIFESPAN for you to use. When you arrive and park, you can get signs from volunteers who are giving them out. We hope you’ll come and join us and the rest of the nation!

CATHECHISM CORNER/SCHEDULE ∙ Wednesday, October 2 With that first two Wednesdays behind us, we would like to thank everyone for their help and patience getting through the mass confusion and congestion that seems to always occur the first week of class. Please pray that the children of the program continue to strive to be saints by working hard to know, love, and serve God in this world and the next. Please keep the teachers and volunteers in your prayers as well. We would like to thank the volunteers from the Knights of Columbus, who are acting as Guardian

Angels and generously giving of their time watching over the students and their families as they go to and from their cars. Please follow their instructions as they are looking out for the safety of all of our children!!! Parents – Please watch your speed in and around the church parking lots. We have many students and at any time one could dart in front of your vehicle. Although we have many eyes watching, you know how fast something can change. Please maintain a speed limit below 5 MPH. Do your part to see that your child does not wander from you. Students should remain on sidewalks while waiting to be picked up and should use the crosswalk on the north east corner to the church grounds when traveling to and from the Activity Center. Please keep in mind that our Security Team (at all doors) is there to see that all children are safe. Please stop and remember that they are not volunteering their time to cause you inconvenience BUT to see that all children are safe during class time. Spread the word that the Catechism Program has classes for children with Special Needs. This class and only this class, does not require families to be parishioners and is free of charge.

Couple In Need of Temporary Foster Care Franciszek and Stefania Marcinowski have recently come under the legal guardianship of Guardian Care, Inc., and they are reaching out to our community to help the couple get back on their feet. The Marcinowski’s are an elderly Polish couple (83 and 81 respectively) and after a difficult last couple of years of trials and tribulations, they are facing the real possibility of being homeless by the end of September! Guardian Care is reaching out to us in the hopes that there may be a family who is willing to be a foster family who would be able to provide temporary housing until more permanent housing is found. The couple requests to remain together; they help each other get dressed and showered; both ambulate with walkers. The Marcinowski’s are originally from Poland but have been U.S. Citizens for the last 40 years. Several months ago, their son, the last of their children, became very ill back in Poland and they made the trip back to stay with him until sadly, he passed away. They are American citizens who decided to return home to America following their son’s final days. Upon arriving at the airport, TSA denied them re-entry to America and put them back on a return plane back to Poland. When they finally returned to America, they found their apartment had been rented to someone else and their income source (Social Security) was put into suspense. They went to live in a Motel 6 and stayed until they had spent every last penny to their name. Guardian Care is in the process of working with Social Security to have their benefits reinstated and anticipate that their first SS benefit will be paid in November or December. Until then, they have no money for food and housing. A Go Fund Me page has been established on their behalf: https://www.gofundme.com/f/marcinowski039s-helping-hands All help is appreciated. If you have any questions about the Marcinowski’s or would like to provide foster care, please contact Maria Stults, 248-691-1000, ext. 106.

God bless you for your prayers and consideration.
