are interested in singing and being on the recording of the programme, there are details overleaf. At the end of September, I would like to look at our Parish finances and the Gift Aid Scheme. We will be letting you know about different ways of contributing to the Church by using your envelopes or setting up a Standing Order or by using a bank card machine. You can decide what’s best for you and how we can continue to support the parish. Thanks to you all for your generous support. On Sunday 19th September, the Local MP, Taiwo Owatemi will be visiting the parish to say hello to parishioners. We have a large number of funerals arranged in the parish over the next few weeks, so please remember all those families in your prayers. There is a special Mass, celebrating marriage anniversaries at St Chad’s Cathedral on Saturday 9th October. See overleaf for details, especially if you have a special anniversary this year. As we prepare for the new school year, we are mindful of the hard work involved in our schools and the preperations for the start of the year. We are also hoping to start up a good number of the groups during the month of September. We will be writing to our young people over the next few weeks about their involvement with the Youth Group. God bless
This week we pray for those recently deceased Kathleen Judge, Edward Keating, Peter McGrane,
Maeve O’Loughlin, Terence Aylmer, Rosemary Thornhill,

Dear Parishioners, I would like to thank all those who worked so hard to make the Family Camp a success again this year. Having missed last year due to Covid, it’s helped us to appreciate what a good event it is for the parish. Our thanks to Carmel Keane and all her team of helpers. It is about a young couple coming from Ireland and their first impressions of Coventry. There will be a discussion afterwards and some refreshments so that people can share their memories of coming to Coventry. Please do try to support this. There are also events on Sunday at Swanswell Park from 12.30pm to 6.00pm and some of our Irish Dancers, footballers and boxers are involved. Please pick up a ticket from the back of church if you would like to attend. There will be special events at St Osburg’s, St Mary’s and the Polish Church. There will be a Pilgrim Trail around the City Centre marked with sky blue ribbons. The Walking Club is now back and meeting this Sunday again at 3pm on the car park. All welcome! SIGHT SAVERS As at10th August, I have banked £656.00. My contact at Sightsavers tell me that in April, the World Health Organisation confirmed that the Gambia has become the second sub-Saharan country in Africa to eliminate Trachoma as a public health problem. She added that it was the generous support of people like us that enables them to do their valuable work. Grateful thanks to all concerned.
Make an Act of Spiritual Communion This can be done whilst you watch a live stream of Mass being offered by saying the following prayer: “My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.” Sacrament of Reconciliation The Bishops have asked that all should make a Perfect Act of Contrition. Perfect contrition (or a Contrition of Charity) is true and real sorrow for our sins which is created when we realise the immense love of God for each one of us. We express this contrition when we realise how we offend God by our sinful words, deeds and omissions in contrast to the immeasurable love and mercy that He continually shows us. This requires us to be contrite of heart for what we have done, know and be overwhelmed by the love and mercy of God for His children, and to approach this grace with humility and resolution not to sin again. An Act of Contrition My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things. I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Our Saviour Jesus Christ suffered and died for us. In his name, my God, have mercy.
Rest In Peace

These mass times have been agreed by the Deanery as we begin to open up churches for public
worship in accordance with Government and Church Guidelines.
You are encouraged to make use of webcam masses if this is still the best option for you. To consider
the masses during the week as there is no Sunday obligation and these masses are likely to be less
crowded. Perhaps, only think of coming to mass on Sunday if there is no other option.
The parishes will review mass times and frequency of masses over the next couple of weeks when we
have a chance to judge the numbers required moving forward.
Thanks for your co-operation. We are pleased that we can begin to come to church, but our safety
and the safety of others is still paramount and we hope that Priests, individuals and parish
communities do not feel under pressure to open churches in a way that puts people at risk.
