Grooved Butterfly ValveThe uniqueness of the grooved valve begins with the spherical bore of the disc seat area which facilitates a constant disc to seat loading that maintains a leak-tight stem seal regardless of disc position. Because seal force is constant throughout the full disc cycle, operating torques are kept low thus increasing valve life. The grooved butterfly valve
is the grooved end valve with the lowest pressure loss. This is accomplished by combining the best features of ball valve and butterfly designs. Utilizing the spherical bore of a ball valve design enables the use of a thin profile disc with much narrower leading edges which, while providing a bubble tight seal affords the advantage of minimal flow turbulence through the
valve. This reduces pressure lossand allows more precise flow control over a wider range of flow conditions and disc positions. Also designed with the contractor in mind, the valve body is a rugged one-piece casting with integral mounting base for either manual operated or remote controlled actuation while providing room for vital pipe system insulation.

Miscellaneous, Flexible Hoses (2)
ConstructionThe hoses are annularly corrugated formed from butt weld rigid tube. Depending on the application, required working pressure and conditions of operation, a single or double layer of wire braid is applied externally to the hose restrain to it, increasing its ability to withstand the pressure, increasing hoop strength and protection from abra- sion. The extent of braiding, gauge and angle of lay are calculated carefully to maximize performance.
Pressure LossTo achieve the same pressure loss as in steel pipes, the diameter of the corrugated hose should be increased by 15%.
Shock pressurepulsating, surge of shock pressures considerably affect hose longevity and if encountered, peak pressure must not exceed 50% of the maximum working pressure.
Design and Installation ConsiderationsFlexing is usually in accordance with one or a combination of the types of motion shown below. The formula given are provide to help determine the length of hose required to prevent flexing below the minimum bend radius, thereby ensuring maximum reliability.
DesignAvoid sharp bends and torsional twisting. Keep flexing in one plane.

Hydraulic control valves type RAF are used for general water supply, HVAC, and irrigation systems. The RAF valves are made of only three parts, each one is made of durable materials. The inner flow passages are streamlined and coated with
low-fiction materials. This provides quiet flow in both directions, low head-loss and minimal wear.
RAF valves operate with a patented reinforced diaphragm which eliminates the need for
a retaining metal spring. The special elastic design enables gradual and precise opening or closing of the valve. By eliminating the metal spring, the RAF valve is virtually maintenance free

RAF 60 and RAF 62 are piloted hydraulic valves activated by line pressure. The pilot valve has a spring-loaded membrane which is sensitive to downstream
pressure. The pilot’s spring is preset to a desirable reduced pressure. The pilot valve main- tains a constant down-stream pressure by gradually opening
and closing of the main valve. The pressure is maintained constant regardless of changes in the flow rate.

RAF 80 and RAF82 are piloted hydraulic valves activated by line pressure. The pilot valve has a spring- loaded membrane which is exposed to the upstream
pressure. The valve is normally closed. Only when the line pressure rises above a preset point, the RAF 80/82 opens to relieve the excessive pressure
downstream without causing surge hazards. When the line pressure drops the RAF closes.

RAF 30 through RAF 33 valves are activated by line pressure. The valves open or close by electric command through a
selection of solenoid valves. The solenoid opens or closes the RAF as it is energized by an electric pulse. The electric pulse

RAF 13 is used to control the filling of water reservoirs and tanks. The RAF 13 is a non modulating service valve, operating as an on/off valve. The RAF valve is activated by the line pressure only and controlled by a float pilot. The valve will open at a low preset water level and close
at a preset high water level, which must be different than the opening [i.e. lower] level. The RAF 13 allows filling and draining of a reservoir or a water tank in a level range that can be easily changed. The RAF13 stays in its last position (fully open or fully closed) as long as the
water level is in between minimum and maximum preset levels.
