Los fútbolistas de Left Wing will bring their version of the beautiful game, (anti-imperialism fútbol), to the fields of Skyline College in San Bruno. See directions below. This year’s squad is an exciting blend of veteran and recent fútbolistas. As usual we come internationally strong blending playing styles from Malaysia, Peru, Mexico, Argentina and Columbia. As many of you know, LW is still searching for it’s very first victory. Being a non-league team, we have always faced an uphill battle. Often we have faced teams that were that were above Intermediate level. This year we took the option of registering for Recreational Level. This by no means guarantees us victory, but combined with fresh talent and veteran experience the has never been a greater chance for us to take all 3 points from at least one of our 3 games. See table and schedule below. COME SUPPORT Left Wing has always been community based, which has created and nurtured a supportive environment for fútbolistas of all skill levels. Playing in these tournaments is one form of celebration of our community. This year’s tournament team would love for your support. We have gained a strong rep in these tournaments for how strong we come with our chanting, cheering and most of celebrating. Even if you can’t make it, please send your best wishes to your comrades who are excited to proudly represent our communities. THIS SAT. – GAME ON! TournamenTThis saTurday, 9 a.m.As many of you have become aware, this Saturday morning, December 3, Left Wing FC face a huge test. Las fútbolistas who have chosen to proudly represent anti-imperialism through the beautiful game will dawn the red shirts of Left Wing FC and step onto the pitch to face unknown opponents. Unlike the previous 2 outings into organized tournament play, Left Wing has trained with serious conviction for nearly 2 months. All who have attend-ed practices have seen the strides the team has made. Over this time, wonderful new talent has emerged along with strong ties within the team. And most of all there is a fierce determination to play attacking fútbol.

Some may ask after our previous 2 outings, where we have only managed to net 1 goal, why would we compete in the tour-nament again. This is why: We compete because we love fútbol, because we love Left Wing, and to our grave we are committed to representing our people. Make no mistake, we seek justice for our communities and victory on the pitch!¡hasta la Victoria siempre!

recommended album of the week

With numerous music luminaries on the team, the wealth of knowl-edge should be shared.

out of brooklyn, el michels affair debut album “Sounding out to the city. considered the best funk/soul album to come out last year — in fact to come out in a long time. the song writing is exceptionaly strong and best of all, it’s a record that you will always want to play straight through. click on album to preview tracks.

new tournament anounced! As announced on the listserve this week, a 2nd Winter intermediate tournament is on the calendar for Saturday,February 25th. Within minutes hands were flailing about by those eager to represent and compete for Left Wing. Currently there are 9 fútbolistas who have asked to be placed on the 16 play-er roster. But don’t fret! There are still seven more spaces available.

Left Wing FC will be looking to contin-ue to improve upon our recent progress made during the previous tournament. As you either witnessed or read, Left Wing played spirited attacking fútbol and netted 2 goals and due to prior reputations, 1 goal disallowed! Most importantly though, we were rarely on our heels and definately on par with our competition. In this upcom-ing tournament Left Wing will be aiming to put ourselves in the win column for the first time. For all those who have participat-ed in previous tourneys, they know it is a feat easier said than done. To accompany the confidence we gained in our last out-ing the plan is to continue the Educacíon

de Fútbol process to further improve our individual skills and team play.

new training ground At the tail end of last year our club had to find a new pitch for our practices. Toi Dao tipped us to the field at Beach School lo-cated in Piedmont, boarding Oakland. The feedback of our new location so far has been glowing. The field is smaller, but not nearly as heavily used as Piedmont High. The field is artificial turf, however it only a year or two old, and thus it is in excel-lent condition. The field has a real train-ing ground feel to it, as it enclosed which means no chasing down balls. There are also decent bathrooms next to the field.

thiS Sunday 1/15/oh SeiS, 10 A.M.Rain is expected Friday and Saturday, BUT Sunday’s forecast is currently correct. It will be the 1 clear day during this 3-day week-end, so this will be your chance to exercise and practice the beautiful game with your beloved fútbolistas. Ryan will be absent, however Jacob will take the rains and facili-tate the training program.
