LOS ANGELES – Cerca de 300 extranjeros con antecedentes crimi-nales han sido removidos de los Estados Unidos o están en proceso de
deportación, después de un operativo de inmigración realizado a lo largo de tres días en California, convirtiéndolo en el operativo más grande en el que se detienen a extranjeros criminales.
En el operativo participaron más de 400 oficiales de ICE y otras agencias estatales y locales. Ellos se enfocaron en arrestar a extranjeros que representan una amenaza a la seguridad nacional y a la seguridad pública, incluyendo a miembros de pandillas callejeras transnacionales y a pederastas.
Durante la operación, que concluyó la noche del 10 de diciembre, oficiales de la Oficina de Aduanas y Control Fronterizo (ICE, por sus siglas en inglés) localizaron y arrestaron a un total de 208 criminales

LOS ANGELES – Nearly 300 foreign nationals with criminal records have been removed from the United States or are facing deportation following a three-day enforcement surge in California, making it the biggest operation targeting at large criminal aliens ever carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The special operation involved more than 400 agents and officers from ICE, the U.S. Marshals Service, as well as several other state and local agencies. They focused on aliens who pose a threat to national security and public safety, including members of transnational street gangs and child sex offenders.
During the operation, which concluded late Dec. 11, ICE officers located and arrested a total of 280 criminal aliens statewide, along with six non-criminal aliens who had final orders of deportation. More than 80 percent of the criminal aliens taken into custody had prior convictions for serious or violent crimes, such as rape by force, armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. Also included in the group are 30 convicted sex offenders, many whose crimes involved sexual assaults on children. Of those arrested, at least 100 have already been removed from the country.
Northern California accounted for the largest number of arrests during the operation where a total of 119 criminal aliens were taken into custody. The Los Angeles-area recorded the next highest number of arrests with 96, followed by San Diego and Imperial counties collectively with 71.
The arrestees, 257 men and 29 women, represent more than 30 different nations, including countries in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Because of their serious criminal histories and prior immigration arrest records, at least 17 of those arrested during the enforcement surge will face further federal prosecution for reentering the country illegally after a formal deportation. A conviction for felony re-entry carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
The foreign nationals detained during the operation who are not being criminally prosecuted will be processed administratively for removal from the United States. Those who have outstanding orders of deportation, or who returned to the United States illegally after being deported, are subject to immediate removal from the country. The remaining aliens are in ICE custody awaiting a hearing before an immigration judge, or pending travel arrangements for removal in the near future.
“Legal immigration is an important part of our country’s history and the American dream exists for many immigrants,” said John Morton, Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary, who oversees ICE. “ However, that dream involves playing by the rules and those who break our criminal laws will be removed from the country. Sadly, many of the people victimized by aliens who commit crimes are other members of the immigrant community, who are following the rules.”
Throughout 2009 ICE has removed over 136,000 criminal aliens from the United States, a new record.

PLANO – Siete hombres fueron arrestados en el Condado de Kendall la semana pasada, bajo cargos relacionados con distribución de drogas.
Los arrestos, realizados entre el 10 y 11 de diciembre, son el resultado de una investi-gación de dos años de duración, llamada “Operación Dos Hermanos”, la cual tenía como objetivo la distribución de substancias controladas, principalmente cocaína, en los condado de Kane y Kendall.
La investigación incluyó el monitoreo de teléfonos usados por los sospechosos para rea-lizar sus operaciones. Este monitoreo fue autorizado por la corte.
La investigación se centró en dos hermanos, Mario Meléndez de 38 años de edad y Abel Cadena Martínez, de 44 años de edad, ambos residentes de Plano, quienes de acuerdo a los documentos de la corte, utilizaban su tienda, Little Marketa General Store en Plano, como sede de su operación de distribución de drogas.
Ambos hermanos están acusados de importar cantidades al mayoreo de cocaína al Con-dado de Kendall, para ser distribuida a una serie de clientes.
Los documentos de la investigación también identifican a Jesús Corral, de 34 años de edad y residente de Plano, como un cliente habitual de Meléndez y Cadena Martínez, mien-tras que Lázaro Medina, de 37 años y residente de Villa Park, ha sido identificado como uno de sus proveedores.
También fueron arrestados Ricky Wilson, de 41 años de Newark; Manuel Garibay, de 48 años de Plano e Ismael Núñez, de 41 años de Plano.

PLANO – Seven men were arrested in Kendall County last week, accused of distrib-uting drugs.
The arrests were made Dec. 10 and 11 and were the result of a two-year, multi-jurisdictional investigation, code named “Operacion Dos Hermanos,” which targeted the distribution of controlled substances, primarily cocaine, in both Kendall and Kane counties in Illinois. The investigation incorporated the use of court authorized moni-toring of telephones used by the targets of the investigation in the furtherance of their operation.
The investigation states that two brothers, Mario Melendez, 38, and Abel Cadena Martinez, 44, were using their business, the Little Marketa General Store in Plano, as a headquarters for their drug distribution operation.
The complaint says taht Melendez and Cadena-Martinez were importing wholsesale quantities of cocaine into Kendall County, whiche was later sold to a number of cus-tomers.
The complaint also identifies Jesus Corral, 34, of Plano as a regular client of Melen-dez, and Lazaro Medina, 37 of Villa Park, as one of their suppliers.
Also arrested were Ricky Wilson, 41 of Newark; Manuel Garibay, 48 of Plano, and Ismael Nuñez, 41 of Plano.
Wilson was charged with violation of state drug laws while Garibay and Nuñez were being held for violating immigration laws. All of the arrests were made without inci-dent.
During the course of the investigation, in excess of ten kilograms of cocaine was recovered, along with four weapons and a substantial amount of currency.
All the arrested subjects, except Wilson, are being held without bond at the Metro-politan Correctional Center in Chicago, while Wilson is at the DuPage County Correc-tional Center in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
Those charged with violation of Federal drug laws face a mandatory minimum sen-tence of up to ten years’ incarceration.
This case was investigated by a joint federal - state task force, comprised of FBI Special Agents, ICE Special Agents; Special Agents from the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division; and officers from the ISP, the Kendall County Policing Assistance Team, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the Kendall County Sheriff’s Of-fice, and the Oswego, Plano, Yorkville, and Villa Park Police Departments.
According to Steve Eaves, Plano Chief of Police, this is the largest drug bust he has seen in his 20 years as chief. Eaves said that other operations targeting drug rings in the area were mainly about marijuana, while the cocaine and heroine drug busts were few.
Traffic stop yields $4 million in cocaine

BOLINGBROOK – A case of minor traffic violations led state troopers to seize a considerable amount of drugs.
At about 6:19 a.m. Dec. 14 a state trooper stopped a 2007 Dodge pickup truck at the 265 mileage mark on Interstate 55. Documents show the vehicle was stopped for “inap-propriate lighting” and because the driver had committed improper lane usage.
The trooper had a police dog with him. Both the officer and the dog approached the truck and talked to the occupants, Noemi Gutierrez, 22, and Gabriel C. Andres, 44.
The dog allegedly smelled narcotics and the Cooperative Police Assistance Team was called to investigate.
Jamal Simington, the team’s director, said that they found a secret compartment in the truck bed, where 20 kilos of cocaine were hidden.
According to Simington, the drug has a market value of over $4 million.Gutierrez and Andres, both of Chicago, were arrested and are being held at the coun-
ty jail. Andres was charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Meanwhile, Gutierrez was charged with two counts of controlled substance traffick-ing, possession of a controlled substance and participating in a calculated criminal drug conspiracy.”
The investigation is ongoing.

BOLINGBROOK – Un caso de violaciones menores a las leyes de tránsito llevaron a la policía estatal a confiscar una importante cantidad de droga.
El 14 de diciembre un patrullero estatal detuvo un camioneta Dodge 2007 alrededor de las 6:19 a.m. en el marcador de millaje 265 de la Interestatal 55. De acuerdo a los reportes del oficial, la camioneta fue detenida por tener “iluminación inadecuada” y porque el cho-fer estaba usando un carril de forma indebida.
El patrullero estaba acompañado de su perro policía. Ambos se acercaron al vehículo,en el cual se encontraban Noemí Gutiérrez de 22 años de edad y Gabriel C. Andrés de 44.
Aparentemente el perro detectó narcóticos y se llamó a agentes del Equipo Cooperativo de Asistencia Policial para que investigara.
Jamal Simington, director del equipo, dijo que se detectó un compartimiento secreto en la caja de la camioneta, donde estaban escondidos 20 kilos de cocaína.
Simington dijo que el valor de esta droga en el mercado se calcula en más de 4 millones de dólares.
Gutiérrez, y Andrés, ambos de Chicago, fueron arrestados y se encuentran en la cárcel del condado. Andrés está acusado de fabricar o entregar una substancia controlada, además de posesión de una substancia controlada.
Mientras tanto Gutiérrez está acusada de dos cargos de tráfico de una substancia contro-lada, posesión de una substancia controlada y participación en una conspiración criminal calculada de drogas.
La investigación de este caso continúa abierta.

Chicago police officer involved in Aurora incident

AURORA – Aurora Police are investigating an incident in which a 31 year-old woman claimed that a gun was pointed at her by a 41 year-old off-duty Chicago police officer near the Planned Parenthood Clinic on the city’s far east side.
The incident occurred Dec. 16 in a parking lot adjacent to the Planned Parenthood Clinic when a Chicago officer, who was accom-panied by a 30 year old female, was apparently approached by the 31 year old woman as the pair sat in their vehicle, at about 9:15 a.m. It appears that the 31 year-old intended to hand the couple, pieces of literature. According to the man, he displayed his Chicago Police badge and the woman backed off. The woman told police the man displayed a handgun.
Due to the disparity in statements, there were no arrests made. A handgun was located in the vehicle and the off-duty officer was in possession of his badge.
Aurora Police filed a disorderly conduct report to document the in-cident and also verified with Chicago Police that the man was an off-duty police officer. The woman was referred to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office should she wish to sign a complaint.

AURORA – La Policía de Aurora está investigan-do un incidente en el cual un oficial de policía de Chi-cago aparentemente apuntó una pistola a una mujer afuera de la clínica Planned Parenthood.
El incidente sucedió el 16 de diciembre alrededor de las 9:15 a.m., cuando una mujer de 31 años se acercó a un auto estacionado en un estacionamiento junto a la Clínica Planned Parenthood, aparentemen-te para entregar algunos folletos.
En el auto se encontraba una mujer de 30 años y el oficial de policía de Chicago de 41 años de edad.
De acuerdo al oficial, quien estaba fuera de servi-
cio, él le mostró a la mujer su placa del Departamento de Policía de Chicago y la mujer se alejó. Ella dice que el policía le mostró su pistola.
Debido a que ambas versiones son diferentes, no se hizo ningún arresto.
Sin embargo, se localizó una pistola en el vehículo y se comprobó que el oficial tenía su placa de policía en su poder.
La Policía de Aurora envió un reporte de conducta desordenada para documentar el incidente al Depar-tamento de Policía de Chicago y la mujer que puso la queja fue enviada a la fiscalía del Condado de Du-Page en caso de que desee firmar una queja contra el oficial.

ELGIN – Por los próximos tres meses la calle Chi-cago en el estará cerrada al tráfico vehicular, entre las calles Lynch y Sheridan, para realizar trabajos de mantenimiento.
A partir del 3 de diciembre la ciudad tiene a cuadri-llas de trabajadores en el lugar, realizando obras para separar los sistemas de drenaje sanitario y de lluvia.
El cierre es parte del Proyecto de Separación de Drenaje de la Avenida Highland y parte del esfuerzo
continuo de la ciudad para separar ambos sistemas de drenaje.
“Estos proyectos son extremadamente caros, pero necesarios”, dijo el director de grupo de Servicios Generales David Lawry.
La ciudad tiene otros proyectos de separación de drenaje planeados para los próximos meses. El área de Bent Street será la próxima y las obras empezarán después del primero del año y el diseño en el área de Lords Street empezará poco después.

ELGIN – Chicago Street from Lynch to Sheridan Streets is closed to traffic as City contract crews work to separate storm and sanitary sewers. The work is expected to continue for three months.
The closure is part of the City’s Highland Ave. Sewer Separation Project and part of Elgin’s ongoing sewer separation efforts.
“These projects are enormously expensive but nec-essary,” said General Services Group Director David Lawry.
The City has several sewer separation projects planned over the next several months.
The Bent Street area will begin after the first of the year and design will begin on the Lords Street area project shortly thereafter.
Aumentan impuestos a propiedades

JOLIET – El Concilio de la Ciudad aprobó un aumento del 12 por ciento en los impuestos sobre la propiedad, después de un pro-longado debate.
Durante varias semanas miem-bros del concilio habían estado considerando distintas opciones de aumento de impuestos para ba-lancear el presupuesto de la ciudad para el año 2010. Las propuestas iban desde un 10 por ciento de au-mento hasta un 24 por ciento de aumento.
Al final, los concejales votaron el 15 de diciembre para aprobar un aumento del 12 por ciento en los impuestos sobre la propiedad, a pesar de que algunos comentarios del público sugirieron que si lo ha-cían podían perder su puesto en las próximas elecciones.

Dos granadas estallaron en diferentes puntos de la ciudad de More-lia, causando seis heridos y el despliegue de todas las corporaciones policiacas de la ciudad, incluyendo a elementos del Ejército Mexicano.
El procurador de Justicia del estado de Michoacán, Jesús Montejano Ramírez, confirmó que la primera explosión se produjo alrededor de las 3:24 de la tarde del 15 de diciembre, en el exterior de la barda de la Secundaria Federal número dos, a unos 400 metros de la casa de gobierno estatal, donde habita el gobernador Leonel Godoy Rangel y donde se llevan a cabo todos los actos oficiales del estado.
En este lugar se arrojaron dos artefactos explosivos, de los cuales uno hizo explosión.
Montejano Ramírez señaló que el segundo ataque sucedió alrede-dor de las 4:28 p.m., en el Centro de Protección Ciudadana llamado Tres Fuentes, donde desde un vehículo en movimiento se arrojaron tres granadas, de las cuales solo una hizo explosión, hiriendo a seis personas, entre ellas una mujer embarazada de 27 años y una menor de tres años de edad, quienes están siendo atendidos en un hospital del Seguro Social.
De acuerdo a información publicada por El Universal, estos ataques con granadas son parte de la guerra entre los cárteles de La Familia Michoacana y Los Zetas. La publicación indica que en menso de cinco días el hampa ha perpetrado cuando menos ocho ataques con granadas y armas de alto poder.

Two grenades exploded in two different sites in Morelia, injuring six people and prompting the de-ployment of all the law enforcement agencies in the city, including the Army.
The Attorney General in Michoacan, Jesus Monte-jano Ramirez, said that the first explosion was regis-tered at about 3:24 p.m Dec. 15, outside the Federal Middle School No. 2, located near the State Building where the governor lives and where he conducts of-ficial business. The governor, Leonel Godoy Rangel, was not injured in the attack. Two artifacts where thrown and only one exploded.
Montejano Ramirez said that the second attack was registered at about 4:28 p.m. at the Center for Citi-zens Protection, known as Three Fountains, where three grenades were thrown from a moving vehicle. In this incident six people were injured, including a pregnant woman and a three-year-old girl. All the in-jured were taken to a local Social Security hospital for treatment.
According to information published in El Univer-sal, these grenade attacks are part of a war between two drug cartels, La Familia and Los Zetas. The newspaper also said that in less than five days the organized crime has staged at least eight attacks with grenades and heavy artillery.
Calderón propone una reforma política
MEXICO – El presidente de México Felipe Calde-rón, presentó una iniciativa de reforma política ante el Congreso. Entre los puntos sobresalientes destaca la instauración de una segunda vuelta en las eleccio-nes presidenciales, la reelección de alcaldes y la dis-minución en el número de diputados y senadores.
Calderón propuso la adopción de un sistema de elección por mayoría absoluta, que incluya una segun-da vuelta electoral para la elección de presidente. Cal-derón dijo que al darse una segunda vuelta electoral, el presidente electo “tendrá un mandato más claro”.
El presidente también propuso la elección conse-cutiva de los alcaldes y miembros de los ayuntamien-tos, así como de los jefes delegacionales por hasta 12 años.
La propuesta de reforma política también incluye la reducción en el número de senadores de 120 a 96 y en el número de diputados, de 500 a 400.
Calderon introduces a proposal for political reform
MEXICO – Mexican President Felipe Calderon sent a proposal for a political reform to Congress. Among the most interesting changes are creating a second round of voting in presidential elections, allowing mayors to be reelected and reducing the number of deputies and senators in Congress.
Calderon proposed changing the current Presi-dential election system to one of absolute major-ity, allowing a second round of votes for President. Calderon said that by having a second round the President-elect “will have a more clear presidency.”
Calderon also proposed to allow city mayors, al-dermen and district representatives to seek reelec-tion for up to 12 years.
The proposal also includes reducing the number of senators from 120 to 96 and the number of depu-ties from 500 to 400.

Winter clothing driveAs we did in previous years, we are collecting coats and winter clothing items, which will be distributed to people in need.I am working with Alderman Scheketa Hart Burns in this project and with the Youth Services Department.The items that we need are new or clean, gently worn coats, hats, scarves and gloves.The clothing drive ends Dec. 21. People can bring their donations between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to the Youth and Sports Activities Department, 501 College Ave., Suite 304; the Aldermen’s Office, 60 E. Downer Place; or to the Customer Service Center, 3770 McCoy Drive, next to Fire Station (.I got involved in this drive because the economy is in a bad situation and a lot of families don’t have a job and don’t have enough money to buy coats, but their children are still growing and they need coats.The items collected will be distributed through the schools in District 2 and District 7, because they have placed requests for winter clothing.
COLECTA DE ABRIGOSComo en años anteriores estoy trabajando en una colecta de abrigos y artículos de ropa invernal, los que serán distribuidos a personas que los necesiten.En este proyecto estoy colaborando con la concejal Scheketa-Hart Burns del Distrito 7 y con el Departamento de Servicios Juveniles de la Ciudad de Aurora.Los artículos que necesitamos son abrigos nuevos o ligeramente usados y limpios, así como gorros, bufandas y guantes.La colecta termina el 21 de diciembre. Los artículos pueden entegarlos entre las 8 a.m. y las 5 p.m. en las oficinas del Departamento de Actividades Juveniles y Deportivas, 501 College Avenue, Suite 304; en las oficinas de los concejales, 60 E. Downer Place; o en el Centro de Servicio al Cliente, 3770 McCoy Drive, junto a

Los Rayados dejaron en el camino al América en Cuartos de Final; al Toluca en Semifinales y, ahora, pasó sobre La Máquina.
En el juego, el primer gol fue obra de Aldo de Nigris al minuto 53, con un cabezazo; el empate fue de Alejandro Castro, al cabecear un Tiro de Esquina en el 76’; todo lo cerró Suazo al minuto 89.

Monterrey is the Champion of the 2009 Apertura Tourna-ment. The team defeated Cruz Azul in its own stadium by a final score of 2-1 in the Final game of the Mexican First Division Soccer Tournament Dec. 13.
To get to the finals Monterrey defeated America in quarter finals and Toluca in semifinals.
The first goal was scored by Aldo de Nigris in the 53rd minute, with a head shot. The tie goal was scored by Alejandro Castro in the 76th minute, and Suazo closed the deal in the 89th minute.

Adolfo ‘Bofo’ Bautista, fue pre-sentado el 15 de diciembre como refuerzo para el Torneo de Bicente-nario 2010 de las Chivas. Él firmó un contrato por tres años.
Bautista, acompañado del pre-sidente del equipo Rafael Lebrija, contestó a preguntas de los medios de comunicación en una conferencia de prensa. El jugador guanajuatense sorprendió con un look de cabello desteñido.
Lebrija explicó durante la presen-tación del refuerzo del Guadalajara, que fue una negociación muy compli-cada, pero que tuvo un desenlace favorable para el conjunto rojiblanco, y resaltó que el jugador cedió en sus pretensiones económicas por el deseo que mostró el futbolista por regresar al Rebaño, y continuar con su carrera dentro del club más popular de México.
El Directivo rojiblanco, manifestó que el mediocampista viene al Gua-dalajara con un contrato de tres años, pero que esperan que se quede por mucho más tiempo, y agregó que por el momento es el único refuerzo que se tiene contemplado para que llega al Rebaño, pues se le quiere dar oportunidad a los jóvenes de la cantera rojiblanca.

GUADALAJARA – Adolfo ‘Bofo’ Bautista was introduced Dec. 15 as a new player with the team for the Bicentennial 2010 Tournament. He signed a three-year contract with the team.
Bautista was joined by the team’s President, Rafael Lebrija, and answered questions from the media at a press conference. The Guanajuato native player surprised everyone with a blonde hairstyle.
During the conference Lebrija said that the negotiations were compli-cated, but in the end they were favorable to Chivas and made it clear that the player had lowered his economic expectations to return to the team and continue his career with them.
Lebrija said that the mid-fielder returned with the team for three years, but they expect him to remain with the team for more time.
He also mentioned that for the time being Bautista is the only reinforce-ment player to be hired, because they want to give an opportunity to players that have been developing their skills with the team.
‘Bofo’s contract is for three years, three years for him to be here with Chivas. He had the desire to continue his career here, as I just said, and we expect this not to end in these three years, but to continue for two or

Esta semana Toyota anunció la introducción del modelo Prius Híbrido Enchufable (Prius Plug-in Hybrid), una ver-sión de su vehículo híbrido de gasolina y eléctrico Prius.
El vehículo será utilizado por agencias gubernamenta-les en Japón, Estados Unidos y Europa durante la primera mitad de 2010, y estaría disponible al público en general a finales de 2011.
El Prius Híbrido Enchufable puede ser cargado usando una fuente externa de poder, como un enchufe eléctrico ca-sero, y es el primer vehículo de Toyota que es impulsado por una batería de litio. Debido a que esta batería dura más, el automóvil tiene un rango de manejo como vehículo eléctrico más amplio, permitiendo su uso como vehículo eléctrico en distancias cortas, mientras que para medias y largas distancias su uso sería igual al de un vehículo hí-brido convencional. Su uso no está limitado por la carga de batería disponible o la disponibilidad de lugares para cargar la batería.
Los fabricantes esperan que este vehículo alcance un rendimiento de combustible superior al de los vehículos convencionales híbridos que usan gasolina y electricidad.

This week Toyota announced the introduction of the “Pri-us Plug-in Hybrid”, a plug-in version of the third-generation “Prius” gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle, into key markets.
These units will be introduced in Japan, the United States, and Europe over the first half of 2010, for use by govern-ments and businesses.
The Prius Plug-in Hybrid can be charged using an exter-nal power source such as a household electric outlet, and is the first vehicle produced by Toyota to be propelled by a lithium-ion battery.
Further, due to the battery’s expanded capacity, the vehi-cle has an extended electric-vehicle driving range, enabling use as an electric vehicle (EV) for short distances, while for medium and long distances, after battery power depletes to a level no longer allowing EV driving mode, the vehicle functions as a conventional gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle (HV).
Thus, use is not constrained by remaining battery power or availability of battery-charging infrastructure.
Plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs), such as the Prius, are expected to achieve fuel efficiency superior to conventional gasoline-electric hybrids.

Los integrantes de las agrupaciones Los Bravos del Norte y los Cadetes de Linares, fueron arrestados en Morelos, durante un ope-rativo realizado por el ejército en la propiedad del narcotraficante Edgar Valdez Villarreal, alias “La Barbie”, al estar en ese preciso instante amenizando el evento con su música. Los sucesos se die-ron el 13 de diciembre.
Los arrestos ocurrieron cuando los uniformados llegaron hasta el lugar para hacer efectiva una orden de cateo que generó una balacera de 45 minutos entre los militares y los narcotraficantes, dejando como resultado tres personas muertas. Valdez Villarreal escapó de las autoridades.
Aunque en un principio, las autoridades decidieron remitir a los músicos a la cárcel, al desconocer si éstos tenían algún nexo con el narcotráfico, finalmente el pasado domingo fueron puestos en libertad, al descubrirse que sólo habían acudido al evento para ofrecer su música, desconociendo que su cliente fuera uno de los narcotraficantes más buscados por las autoridades.
El único que hasta ahora permanece bajo custodia de las autori-dades es Ramón Ayala. El artista, de 64 años, se encuentra ahora en la Subprocuraduría de Investigación Especializada en Delin-cuencia Organizada (SIEDO). Su representante espera que el artis-ta sea liberado a más tardar este fin de semana.
Durante el operativo del ejército también se decomisaron 280 mil 700 dólares, 16 armas largas y 4 cor-tas, mil 700 municiones de diversos calibres y 74 cargadores.

Gloria Trevi gets married

MONTERREY – The con-troversial Mexican singer Gloria Trevi fulfilled one of her dreams when she married Armando Gomez at the Metro-politan Cathedral in Monterrey, Mexico. Gomez is the father of her son, Miguel Armando.
The ceremony took place Dec. 17 under tight security.
Among the members of her wedding party was singer Ana-hi, who gave Trevi the flower bouquet she placed by the im-age of Our Lady of Guadalupe in church.
The wedding, however, didn’t go on without a hitch. A few days before the ceremo-ny, the home of Gloria Ruiz, Trevi’s mother, caught fire and was destroyed.

Los Bravos del Norte and Ramon Ayala and Los Cadetes de Linares were arrested Dec. 11 at a party in the state of Morelos, Mexico, during an army raid at the property of drug lord Edgar Valdez Villarreal, aka, La Barbie. The musicians were hired to play at an event.
The arrests happened when the officers arrived at the property to ex-ecute a search warrant. At their arrival a 45-minute shooting ensued be-tween the army and the drug dealers, leaving three people dead. Valdez Villarreal was able to escape.
In the beginning authorities decided to take all the musicians to jail, not knowing if they had links with the drug cartels or not. But they were freed Dec. 15 when it was confirmed that they had only been hired to play at the event, not knowing that the client was one of the drug lords most wanted by authorities.
The only one who is in custody of authorities is Ramon Ayala. The 64 year-old singer is being held at the Office of Specialized Investiga-tions of Organized Crime. His attorney expects Ayala to be freed by this weekend.

MONTERREY – La controver-sial cantante mexicana Gloria Trevi cumplió uno de sus sueños más anhelados al casarse con Armando Gómez, padre de su hijo Miguel Ar-mando, en la Catedral Metropolita-na de Monterrey.
La boda se realizó el 17 de di-ciembre bajo estrictas medidas de seguridad.
Entre los miembros del cortejo estuvo la cantante Anahí, quien fue madrina del ramo que Trevi deposi-tó a los pies de la Virgen de Gua-dalupe.
Sin embargo, este evento tan feliz no estuvo libre de imprevistos.
La casa de Gloria Ruiz, madre de la cantante, se incendió en McAllen, Texas y ahora está inhabitable.
El incendio se registró a las 4:15 de la mañana del 13 de diciembre, cuando una alarma empezó a sonar. El fuego, que aparentemente empe-zó en un clóset por una chispa, se propagó rápidamente por la propiedad.
