Scope and content note: Consists of paper copies of transcripts of more than 40

denaturalization and removal cases that OSI and/or, in some instances, other components of the Department of Justice, litigated to trial, as well as the transcripts of hearings in the two contested extradition matters in which OSI participated. These transcripts are uncorrected stenographic transcripts. The OSI decisions consist of copies of published and unpublished decisions relating to the final dispositions of OSI’s denaturalization, removal and extradition matters, as well as interim decisions and orders on a variety of important legal topics relating to the litigation of those matters.

the copies of the court materials (OSI decisions and OSI transcripts) created by the United States Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Office of Special Investigations to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in December 2008.

Ownership and Custodial History: These materials were created in connection with litigation

brought by the United States Department of Justice Criminal Division’s Office of Special Investigations and/or, in some instances, by other components of the Department of Justice, against naturalized United States citizens or United States residents who were alleged to have participated in acts of persecution perpetrated on behalf of the former Nazi government of Germany or its allies. The United States Department of Justice donated the copies of the court materials (OSI decisions and OSI transcripts) to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in December 2008.
