WHEN CAN I MOVE IN?All new students living on campus are assigned a specific move-in day and time on August 20, 21, 22 from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. If your assigned time will not work, you may change it, but note that spaces are limited in each time block. To change your move-in date or time, visit housing.uiowa.edu/move-in.

GETTING HEREIowa City will be bustling with students returning to campus, as well as anticipated road construction. We’ve identified the best routes to your assigned residence halls and posted them on our website housing.uiowa.edu/move-in.

CONNECT WITH YOUR ROOMMATESWe recommend waiting until all roommates are present before setting up the room. If you are able to talk to each other prior to move-in, please make a plan for who is responsible for shared room items.

DISCUSS YOUR MOVE-IN STRATEGYThere may be some very busy times, a little waiting involved, and certainly a few emotions throughout the day. Do you need help getting things in your room or want assistance unpacking everything? Would you like to share a meal with your family, take a walk through campus, or snap a photo with Herky? Consider when and how you would like to say goodbye in a way that works for your family. Most importantly, remember that the best laid plans can sometimes go awry. Try to relax and enjoy the memory of your first day in the halls as a Hawkeye!

Welcome to Iowa! Insurance information

(Health and renter’s/homeowner’s — the university does not provide insurance for student belongings.)
