Three Night Songs of Li Po, Op.6, by Doming Lam."These display a sureness of touch and a certainty of expressionwhich many other local composers must envy in its melange ofWestern and Chinese musical traditions."South China Morning Post, 1980Prof. David GwiltHead, Music Department,Chinese University of Hong Kong

"Doming Lam produced music that was accomplished andoriginal, Mr. Lam especially, has shown like Berg or Penderecki inthe West, that contemporary composition techniques can havetremendous expressive power."

Paul Robinson, China Mail,Hong Kong, 1967

"In the future written music history' of Hong Kong, there willdefinitely be a chapter describing the works of Doming Lam, hisviews on modern Chinese music, and his contribution to themusical scene and composers' rights in Hong Kong ..... Heemphasized that he must write Chinese music, particularlycontemporary Chinese music. This year 1988. is the 30th anniver-sary since he graduated from music school. Through these years,he had strived and achieved much for the music of Hong Kong,Macau and China. He should feel no regrets."

VALUABLE CONTRIBUTIONto the dissemination of music in the colony.• Charles Harvey - China Mail

Doming Larn produced music that was accomplished and original. Mr. Lam espeically, has shown likeBerg or Penderecki in the West, that contemporary composition techniques can have tremendousexpressive power.• Paul Robinson, Round-up - China Mail

For an imaginative talent like Doming Lam can almost succeed in bringing Chinese music kicking andscreaming into the 20th century.• Paul Robinson, Critics' corner

Mr. Lam has a great facility for creating striking instrumental effects. He uses string instruments andeven the piano to imitate the sound of the traditional Chinese instruments.• Jane K. Stephen - Hong Kong Standard

The Sonata "Oriental Pearl" is a thoroughly mature and developed work, full of excitement andoriginality. Its oriental flavour is genuine and its exploitation of the violin as though it were a Chinesepi-pa comes off brilliantly.• Ruth Kirby - South China Morning Post

"Doming Larn is the most adventurous Hong Kong composer"« Ha Li-Yan - Sing Tao Wan Pao

On "An Evening of Contemporary Chinese Music" "Doming Larn's music is warm, contemporary andfull of brilliance and colour. Though its style is different from the antiquity of Shu Tsang Houe and ChoiWen-Chung, its music is accomplished and original."• S. S. - Chinese Student Weekly

"Doming Lam's creativity, talent and ability in the organisation of sounds are well seen in his "ElectronicMusic". He treats sound dramatically and fully captures the audience. In searching for music, I have encountered much difficul-ties, spent considerable time, effort, and forsaken much thepleasures of family and friends.

But in music I have found spiritual, cultural and materialenrichment in life.

Thanks to music and to those who have helped me tocompose, promote, perform, develop and generallycultivate better music throughout my life.
