Refused to Deaden the Pain

• “The wine (& gall) was a narcotic designed to deaden the sensibilities of condemned men & alleviate some of the suffering.”

Jesus Came to Die• John 3:16, “For God so loved

the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Jesus Came to Die•Romans 5:8, “But God

demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

The Eyes of the Suffering• Galatians 3:1, “O foolish Galatians!

Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?”• They saw HIM & were still

disobedient!

Unthinkable Things1. Doctrine doesn’t matter. 2. Commitment is unimportant.3. Sin is not important.

Doctrine Doesn’t Matter• John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep

My commandments.”• Jesus as the Word? Doctrine

doesn’t matter?• If doctrine doesn’t matter, then

religious division is acceptable!

Commitment is Unimportant

• Luke 22:39-46• Hebrews 13:5, “I will never leave

you nor forsake you.”• Matthew 10:38, “And he who does

not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”

Sin is Not Important• 1 Corinthians 15:3, “Christ died for our

sins.”• Matthew 26:28, “For this is My blood of

the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.”

• Why would we honor Satan when sin put Jesus on the cross?
