The Group Perspective

2013 commenced slowly in January and February as a result of a number of delayed projects. Activity levels will increase as the year progresses.

Malaysia was busy with projects for Shell and Petronas in January and February. India secured a number of long term

contracts for CDT and High Pressure Water Jetting early in the year and some significant Catalyst Handling and CDT projects for February through to May. India and CRAT secured a parex project for April.

Singapore was busy with preparations for the upcoming parex project and securing a long term CDT contract in Indonesia. The business also secured or delivered a number of significant Catalyst Handling projects through February and March.

We continue to be focused on building the Indian business and I encourage employees throughout the Group to continue to support the growth of our Indian business.

we will issue CR Asia Safety Passports over the coming months and will release the Safety Information Technology System, (SITS) which will provide businesses access to up to date staff training records and training plans across the Group . Please remember "Safety is our First Priority".

Once again on behalf of the CR Asia Board of Directors I want to thank you all for your efforts to date and look forward to continued success in 2013.

CRAT clean tanks for new customer in Rayong

Due to the good performance effort from last September with 4 pigging machines and 8 in-house operators - CRAI (CR Asia India) was once again invited for EOL's Coker pigging shutdown in India in Jan 2013.CRAS (CR Asia Singapore) CDT (CR Asia Decoking Technology) team was called upon to assist CRAI on the job. Our hard working CRAS CDT team members, with the combined effort from CRAI CDT team and the ADT (Anabeeb Decoking Technology) team from Saudi Arabia once again successfully completed EOL's pigging project in good time.

The client was very pleased with the cleaning results and immediately after the job they booked us for their next shutdown project in May 2013.

Between our CR Asia organization and sister company Anabeeb - we have successfully trained our own in-house CDT and ADT operators to handle this type of big scale pigging projects. Within our CR Group and affiliated companies - we regularly share our manpower and resources if required. CDT always ready to serve all our client's needs..!!

Siam Mitsui PTA Co., Ltd is a manufacturer and distributor of purified terephthalic acid (pta) powder located in Maptaphut Industrial Estate, Rayong at the Thai Tank Terminal. They are a new client for our tank cleaning services. We provided chemical cleaning services with close loop system for 3 tanks of 20'diameter.

Scope of work was degasing, ventilation and manual cleaning and then inspected by the owner. The work went smoothly and to plan, so this was a successful first time project and we are pleased that the client is satisfied with our performance.

During the recent turnaround activities by CRAM at PPMSB our personnel found a PPMSB staff member carrying out an inspection inside the vessel who was unable to climb up the rope ladder due to fatigue.

Our Safety Supervisor then briefed the PPMSB safety personnel of the situation and requested to alert higher PPMSB authority to prepare for a rescue operation. The CRAM ERT assembled at the scene with CRAM Supervisor Mohd Zaki and

others for assistance had also been contacted.

The team consisted of: Rescue Coordinator - Hasanudin; Entry Rescuer - Dave Mullan; Winch Operator - Mohd Zaki; and Support - Syauqei Fahmi.

The rescue operation was conducted successfully and the victim was safe without any injury or any ill health problems. Good job by the team!

Our team in Pakistan is by now very experienced in the chemical cleaning of re-located installations. This brought us to Baluchistan where a 120,000b/d oil refinery was re-erected originating from Mildfordhaven, UK.

In late 2012 Akbar Nawaz and his team already successfully cleaned the plant-wide HP steam header and compressor suction lines. This time the Molex Chamber and grids were to be cleaned prior to reinstallation. The vulnerable grids had been exposed to desert dust and weather conditions for

several years and looked like scrap. A sophisticated system of cleaning was applied leaving the grids in dip-tanks with chemicals. The cleaning liquid was drawn from the tank and pumped through grids by means of hoses. The passivation was done by using hot phosphoric acid leaving a grey metal surface.

The Molex chamber, all internals and the piping connected to the rotary valve were cleaned in less than 14 days at site, with excellent results and without a single accident or incident.

Job well done, and thanks to Akbar and the team.

CRAM was awarded the catalyst change-out during PSR 1 & MG3 Turnaround and Shutdown 2013 by Petronas Penapisan Melaka Sdn Bhd (PPMSB). The work started in mid-January 2013 for approximately two weeks. This involved the CCR Platform R1305/6/7 and 8, Regeneration Tower R1323, Disengaging Hopper

V1322 and Surge Hopper V1324, Naphtha Hydrotreating Reactor R1201 and additional DHT Reactor R1901.

The work was completed in 17 days and was jointly executed by CRAM and CRAS expatriate and local workers with a total of 76 personnel for two shifts.

SPEX (Shell Philippines Exploration and Production) executed their shutdown during July 2012 on the Malampaya platform in the Philippines, where CRAT supported the engineering services with 16 people working a 2 shift system. The job steps consisted of bolting (hot bolts, as well as assisting in torqueing and tensioning), bundle pulling, and

Hg de-contamination. Moreover, we also performed the sludge removal for the hazardous waste drained tank where the mercury was present in the sludge. The shutdowns on both SWP & OGP were excellently and safely executed, and we left a satisfied customer once again.

The CRAT Special Services team were called to Phu My 2.2 Power Plant in Ba Ria, Vung Tau to perform cutting and beveling of pipe 14", 24" and 26" Steam Turbine shell. The thickness was 80- 90 mm and was executed in November/December 2012. The client was Agon Pacific/GE.

CRAI undertook the unloading and loading of 2 XXL DHDS reactors at RIL. The job has just been completed on schedule and with zero safety incidents.

Other works secured at RIL and coming up next month are the unload / load of 2 Parex chambers that has required a huge logistical exercise which includes the mobilisation of around 60 Thai welders, mechanical fitters and supervisors from CRAT. The guys won't have to miss their favourite Thai food though as they will also mobilise some Thai cooks and all of their special Thai ingredients. These works are scheduled for around 30 days.

The middle of this March will see CRAI taking on another large catalyst project at BPCL in Mumbai. They will be working on an HCU and 5 other reactors which will be due for completion in early April.

Many other projects are in the pipeline for the coming months, potentially including another Parex, new absorbent loading and grid installation, plus another HCU at MRPL in Mangalore.

The CRAI Mangalore office, workshop & yard facility is currently undergoing a decorative face lift which will see a complete repainting of all internal & external areas and a full yard spring clean.

In the meantime, the search is on for a new piece of real estate in Jamnagar. The intention is to find a new home base for our Jamnagar crew and all of the CRAI equipment that is located there. We plan to build a new office, stores and workshop facility to service some of our best clients, RIL & ESSAR plus the rest of the Gujarat and surrounding states.

CDT (CR Decoking Technology) is taking off with several projects already completed so far in 2013 and many more planned. The recent securing of 2 x two year contracts at separate installations in India will boost the utilisation of the current 4 machines based here. New piggs for the CDT process have been developed and the first batch has been produced, after much research and effort by Mr. Elvin Low, our CDT guru from CR-Asia Singapore. New pigg trials are taking place as this article is being written and so far look like being a great success. We have high hopes of a very strong future for this service here in India.

And, let's not forget about our High Pressure Water Jetting activities. Mr. Glenn Dwarka, our Projects Manager in Jamnagar and his intrepid crew have just finished one shutdown with our relatively new internal & external heat exchanger

tube cleaning machines and HPWJ pumps. The works, also at RIL, went well and were completed on schedule with a total of 56,000 tubes being cleaned, well within schedule and with zero incidents. We have also just reached an agreement with RIL for a 2 year call out contract for all of our HPWJ equipment, technicians & supervision plus our 45 ton bundle extractor & operators.

All in all, things are looking very positive for a bright CRAI future, thanks to the foresight and business acumen being shown by the CR Asia Group MD and Board of Directors in recently securing a 100% interest in the CR India Company. So, on behalf of all of our hard working crew here at CRAI, please take care and stay safe.

CRAT achieves5 million man hours

without LTI

Some news hot off the press - after the completion of all projects in February 2013, CR Asia Thailand is very pleased and proud to announce that they have surpassed the tremendous milestone of 5 million man hours without lost time incident. This is indeed a significant achievement and a huge congratulations to all who made this possible from the management of CR Asia. Safety is our first priority..!!

CRAT New EquipmentNew 100K N2 Convertor Pump The 100K Nitrogen Pump Skid consists of a liquid nitrogen converter system mounted on a skid for portability by truck, barge or boat. The skid frame is fabricated of steel or optional stainless steel. The liquid nitrogen converter system vaporizes liquid nitrogen (LN2) to produce gaseous nitrogen (GN2). Liquid nitrogen is supplied to the boost pump from an external skid mounted nitrogen tank connected by flexible hoses. The boost pump increases the LN2 pressure to approximately 60-100 psig before the LN2 is supplied to the high pressure pump. Should the boost pump become inoperative, the nitrogen supply hose may be connected to an alternate fitting, allowing the liquid nitrogen to by-pass the boost pump and flow directly to the high pressure pump.

The high pressure pump then produces the required rate and pressure, up to 100,000 SCFH and up to as much as 10,000 psig, the high pressure LN2 then passes through an ambient air vaporizer where the LN2 is heated and vaporized to produce GN2. The GN2 then passes through an engine exhaust after- heater where it is further heated to the desired temperature.

CR Asia India's Mangalore facility has just been "upgraded" to5 star status after an intense interior, exterior and compound revamp. A team of contract painters launched into the programme with great gusto on March the 10th and apart from some areas of the compound that

are yet to be finished off, are all but complete. The Mangalore facility was first constructed in 2002 and is now the home base for a large contingent of CR staff and their equipment, who are constantly being mobilised to all corners of the subcontinent to

deal with CR Asia India's increasingly busy projects schedule.

to agree on the method statements required to issue the Permits to Work. As the line was passing three PU's, with each having their own concerns, getting approval turned out to be quite a challenge requiring flexibility from all parties involved.

With a slightly novel technique, the required skills and excellent team work, the job was finished with a great result. The client called it; "a can-do spirit of the entire CR Asia Team". When the job was finished the customer showed their appreciation by organising a great dinner in Singapore town.

Breakthrough in mercury decontamination

In addition to a commercial fast-track, a technical solution had to be found at short notice as well - the project had to be finished in the first week of November! There was no time to mobilise custom made proprietary chemicals except for Hg-vapour reduction. The project was coordinated with CRAT from Thailand who quickly made two experts available to give the required support to our own team who had been hastily assembled.

A technical proposal was made filling the line with inhibited acid but the question was: how much and how to move it? The decision was taken to remove the acid back and fro with foam pigs. Now the concept was clear, the next problem was to get all the customer's Product Units (PU)

In late September 2012 Elvin Low (CRAS CDT Manager) received a phone call from one of our esteemed customers in Singapore, regarding the CR Asia capabilities for mercury decontamination. Elvin quickly consulted me about the options available. The problem appeared to be a LPG line contaminated with mercury. Coincidently, CRAS had been aware of this problem ever since December 2011 but due to changes of staff at the customers location, the problem was passed-on with little or no previous history leaving preciouslylittle preparation time. More so as no details about the line were available, no isometric drawings or P&ID, and only an estimate about the total length. However, unconventional problems require unconventional solutions and a number of well calculated risks had to be taken into account.

Tank cleaning for CRAT in Vietnam

News

Mr Sebastian Schutte fromEdelhoff Catalyst Handling Technologies & Engineering Division was at the helm. A complete strip down of the helmet system and a part by part explanation for the function of the components was included in the training as well. Theoretical lessons were clear and concise and practical exercises were exciting and very informative. A compressive

understanding of the capabilities for the helmetalong with the do's and don'ts was passed down to us all.

Safety helmet training in Thailand

This is the second time we have provided tank cleaning services at PetroVietnam (BSR Plant) during Oct/Nov 2012, working 24 hours 7 days with 14 Thai and 2 expat staff at site. The heavy slops tank is a 26 meters diameter tank with floating roof. The tank was cleaned unsuccessfully by a third party 2 years earlier. Estimated sludge amount prior to CRAT cleaning is approximate 500m3. Using high

pressure water jetting in combination with 2-D and 3-D nozzles we converted the very heavy and sticky sludge into a pumpable product without man entry into the tank. With the help of a storage sediment settlement tank system we separated water, oil and sludge. The actual time required for the tank cleaning was 14 days only.

CR Asia recently invested in new Edelhoff Anti-Panic Safety Helmets. Two crew members from CRAS; Ivan Lee Choon Guan and Mohamad Khalid; along with four crew members from CR Asia Thailand underwent a three day training course for servicing, inspection and testing of the Edelhoff Helmet.

The training course was conducted at CRAT and

The purpose of the drill is to provide CRAM Emergency Response Team (ERT) with skill, exposure and experience of an emergency situation. The CRAM ERT comprises newly elected members, and will gain confidence and knowhow to manage and handle an emergency scenario with minimum influence or supervision from the CRAM management. The success of the drill will boost and improve the CRAM ERT role and responsibilities on the next emergency drill or in a real emergency situation.

CRAM management fully coordinated all emergency response equipment and made everything accessible

for the drill or real situation. CRAM ERT and staff had to familiarize the premises and the whereabouts of the emergency response equipment such as location of fire extinguisher, first aid box, exit door, etc.

Held on 1 October 2012, all staff has given their full commitment during these activities.

Last December 2012 CR Asia Bangkok organized an outing trip to KuiBuri Province for the staff and their family members.

All the staff were very thankful for such a wonderful time together, the activities included; wild elephant watching in The National Park, games on the beach, and Hawaiian team New Year Dinner with gifts for everyone (and complimentary fireworks)..!!

We all hope that there will be more enjoyable trips for the staff and family members to get together in the future.

Club Med Bintan is the 2nd company excursion trip for CR Asia Singapore. We were very blessed to have the sunny weather, as days prior to our trip it was downpours on most days due to the monsoon period. All the CRAS staff, together with their spouses and children were able to enjoy the outdoor activities and also numerous indoor facilities. The very active ones even won some medals..!! Elvin our CR 'song bird' cooed a few songs and we all had such a good time. We literally feasted, drank and played non-stop………..

Following in the successful footsteps of the Dutch Ladies field hockey team who won a gold medal during the recent London Olympics, and the Dutch Men's team who won the silver medal - the field hockey team of JC1 Rood-Wit in the Netherlands are all suited up to play their next game.

The hockey club is called Red & White, so the CR Asia logo fits perfectly on their new training suits. Photo courtesy of Tina Welsch who is an alternate Director of the CR Asia Board. Her son Daan Welsch is number 10 (the one with the orange headband).
