The Partners in Learning parent feedback survey

The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. We really need parents to take part in this survey. At present, only 6% of our parents have completed the survey. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. The survey typically will take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent survey will be conducted between 27 August and 26 October. What an amazing community of Grandparents, parents and friends we have at Glenorie Public School.

As I gazed around our school hall during our Grandparents Day assembly, it was hard to see an empty seat. The dedication, enthusiasm and interest our Grandparents displayed was heart-warming.

If you would like to revisit the excitement of the day, or perhaps, you were not able to attend but would like to view the Grandparents Day activities, please use the following link to a movie we created titled 'Grandparents Galore': https://www.filmpond.com/ponds/glenorieps/films/b-kps0vbl3yq

This movie is also accessible, along with additional Glenorie Public School movies, on our school website.

Katie Harmon Assistant Principal

The Brigade has several new members who have started their Bush Fire Training. If you have been thinking about joining the brigade there is no time like the present. There is something for everyone in the RFS and there is no better way to be prepared for the fire season. Training progresses through levels of skills that you can work through at your own pace. We have 2 members who have just completed their Arduous Fire Fighting courses, definitely not for everyone but for those who wish to, it is a great opportunity to expand your skills!

We are also more than happy to talk you through what you need to do to help keep your home and family safe. We can arrange a property check onsite if that would help you.

What is your next step to keep your family, home and property safe should bush fire threaten?

1. Make a Plan and be ready to implement it.

a. When to leave?

b. Where you will go?

c. How will you get there?

d. What will you take?

2. Monitor the Fire Danger Ratings sign.

3. Keep up to date with the Fires Near Me app on your

phone.

4. Prepare your home and property

a. Gutters – cleaned regularly and fit gutter guards

b. Lawns – Keep mown and free of leaves and twigs

c. Flammables- remove wood piles and ensure gas

bottles are in a safe cleared space.

d. Remove low dry scrub from around buildings

e. Ensure your house/property number is clearly

marked so emergency vehicles can locate you.

For further information on family and property preparation go to https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare . You are welcome to call the brigade community engagement officer James Wicking 0422 168 914 or Elizabeth Whiteman 0416 201 196. You can also call the station 9652 2017 (leave a message someone will get back to you) or visit the Glenorie Station Monday evening from 8pm or Saturday afternoon from 2pm.

Just a reminder: Permits are required before your light a fire.

and we have 320 jars ready for the 3/4U game for the Country Fair.

Thank you to the families that donated more than one jar….. BUT A

MASSIVE thank you to our wonderful mums, Madona Habkouk, Megan

Piper, Kelly Kearns, Catherine Millitello, Heather Seacey, and Kate

Devaney that spent the day getting the jars ready. Our school is lucky to

have such dedicated mums working to make our Country Fair amazing.

Week one raffle ticket competition winner was the Gillies’ Family - they won a free ride band for the

day. Well done and thank you to the 26 families that have already returned their raffle ticket books. The

On Saturday 8th

September some volunteers in year 5 & 6 will be selling raffle tickets at Woolworths.

At assembly on Monday we checked the weight of the “Kiss a PIG” money

boxes – Mrs Pearce and Mr Gornalle are the heaviest – but remember it’s about

the amount of $$ in the tin so no one knows how much is in Mrs Perry’s, Mrs

Harmon’s or Mr Ure’s money tin. SO everyone is in the running to be our

winner - to “kiss” a real live PIG at 2:30pm on Sunday 23rd

September. So join

in the fun and let’s see which lucky teacher will be kissing a pig!!

you do not plan on filling the box as others may decide to bake more cakes. If you would

We still need donations of cans of soft drinks – please bring your

donations to the school office.

ALL items can be dropped off at the school office
