Results and offers of placement do not occur until late in the year and could even be early into next year.

Good luck to all our NLSPS participants!

at school on 18 November. Testing will commence at 9.00am prompt in the school hall. It is

important that all students who have nominated to sit the test arrive at 8.50am ready to go.

NEWS OF RAINE – PORT VILLA INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SPONSORSHIP

2 years ago the Kotara Community of Schools agreed to sponsor a promising young student in

Vanuatu, enabling them to finish their Secondary Schooling and pursue a University

Education. Raine K was selected by the then Principal Mrs Sarah Chambers. Raine is doing

extremely well academically and also has a keen interest in visual arts. She is currently running for

captain of the Port Vila International School in her final year of schooling. We will continue to keep

our school communities updated on Raine’s progress.

Thanks to the community of schools for their ongoing support!

MEDICATION AT SCHOOL

If your child is required to take medication of any kind whilst at school we require parents to

complete an Authority to Administer Medication form prior to medication being given to your child.

Forms can be collected from the office or can be found here on our website.

KHS PARENT INFORMATION SESSION

Parents of students attending Year 7 in 2021 are invited to attend the parent information session

on Wednesday 25th November at 7pm. Please note the change of date for this event.

Parents are encouraged to contact the high school if you have any questions regarding the evening.

WELCOME KINDY 2021!

It was great to have next years kindergarten students join us on Wednesday. Our youngest students experienced a typical day at school. Students and teachers alike all had a had a fabulous day on Wednesday. 2021 Kindergarten students also had the pleasure of meeting their buddies for the first time. We had some wonderful feedback from our newest families and news of one kinder student planning to keep their buddy letter and photo on their bedside table until next year.

Before you know it they will all be starting their big school journey!

LEADERS SPEECHES WEEK 6

Our prospective school leaders for 2021 have been successful in the second phase of our leadership process. This year’s school captains, Elliot and Izzy were suitably impressed by the calibre of this years candidates. They will now move to the speech phase of the process. This year students will record their speeches at school and teachers will play all the speeches to children in class before voting takes place.

LEADERSHIP INTERVIEWS

During our leadership interviews last week one of our students felt that they did not perform as

well as they could of. They then went away they spent some of their own time making a great

video on how they wished they performed in interview!

This is great check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO5wGPsBJs8&feature=youtu.be

STAGE OF ORIGIN RUGBY LEAGUE ROUND 2

On Wednesday our stage 2 and 3 students played round 2 of stage of origin. It was another cracking game of Rugby League with the final score being a 5 all draw.

The final game of the series will take place next Wednesday at Alder Park.

STAGE 3 HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE Next week students in years 5 and 6 will commence their mini-high school experience program. The program will have students live the high school experience, with Stage 3 teachers taking the role of specialist teachers in Key Learning Areas and students (in their class groups) rotating through classrooms using a Kotara High School-proforma timetable to experience a variety of different teachers and learning experiences. The program is linked to our school’s General Capabilities Framework and is designed to build student resilience, problem solving and self-discipline (with students working to a high-school-style timetable, learning to work in different classrooms and with different teachers and having set-tasks with overlapping due-dates). Students have been supported in the lead up to this initiative with lessons around timetabling, managing competing priorities and the unique challenges offered by having multiple classrooms, teachers and learning experiences each day. STRANGER DANGER It has been reported to the school that there was an incident that occurred on Wednesday morning between a student of our school and a member of the public. This incident involved a man aged in approximately his 50's verbally harassing a student. This man is known to walk his dog, a black kelpie in the vicinity of the school and there have been previous incidents of him verbally harassing students from neighbouring schools. Please remind your children of the importance of Stranger Danger and how to keep safe on the journey to and from school. This matter has been reported to the police. STAGE 1 SCOOTERING This week the stage 1 students scooted their way around the playground for the final time this term. We are so impressed with the skills a lot of our children have developed and the way the more confident students have encouraged their year mates.

BOOK CLUB The last catalogue for the year will be sent home early next week. Orders are due to be submitted on LOOP by Friday 27th November to allow for orders to be returned by the end of term.
