Project Accomplishment Highlights 1. Ten (10) participants were sent to Sugarcane Farming Technology Training in Bacolod City last October 22 - 27, 2012 - Action Plan was formulated during the training as one of the major outputs that serves as guide of the participants in implementing the project in the ARC/Barangays covered. 2. One (1) hectare site in Sto. Nino, Pres. Roxas, Capiz owned by ICTP Graduate Ronaldo Capapas was identified for the sugarcane nursery. The two (2) high yielding sugarcane varieties (Phil 99-1793 & Phil 2003 - 1389) from SRA in Negros Occidental was planted. It was an input assistance during the training provided by the DAR-JICA ICTP. The nursery was established last February 2013 (delayed due to unavailability of the 5 laksas canepoints at SRA Breeding Farm in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental) and expected harvest will be this February 2014. The canepoints to be harvested in the nursery farm will be transferred to another 1 hectare farm in Viscaya, Pres. Roxas, Capiz as an expansion area of the existing nursery farm in Sto. Nino, Pres. Roxas, Capiz.

II. Project Accomplishment Highlights

1. Ten (10) participants were sent to Sugarcane Farming Technology Training

in Bacolod City last October 22 - 27, 2012 - Action Plan was formulated

during the training as one of the major outputs that serves as guide of the

participants in implementing the project in the ARC/Barangays covered.

2. One (1) hectare site in Sto. Nino, Pres. Roxas, Capiz owned by ICTP

The canepoints to be produced from the two (2) nurseries will be

distributed to interested ARBs in the covered areas at a minimal cost to

recover the production expenses provided by the cooperator.

3. Training on sugarcane farming technology was facilitated and conducted

in Mill District Development Council Office in President Roxas, Capiz last

October 17-18, 2013. It was participated by 78 ARBs/Sugarcane Farmer

Planters coming from Barangays Sto. Nino, Carmencita, Viscaya, Cubay

and Goce. The Resource Speakers were from Sugar Regulatory

Administration (SRA).

4. Through the President Roxas ARB MPC as the lead ARBO and Sto. Nino

ARB MPC and Viscaya ARB Association as the participating ARBOs, around

45 ARBs were able to access credit (fertilizer assistance) from the Capiz

Sugar Central. The fertilizers with an estimated value of P1.2 Million were

utilized by the ARBs in their respective sugarcane farms.

5. Through the assistance of the ICTP graduates from Sto. Nino, Viscaya,

Cubay and Carmencita, Pres. Roxas, Capiz, the 20 soil samples were

analyzed in the SRA Soil Laboratory in Bacolod City.

6. Under the DAR-SRA Sugarcane Block Farm in ICTP covered area, ICTP

graduates assisted the SRA in conducting the GPS mapping identifying

and delineating the 86 hectares area of the sugarcane block farm covering

barangays of Sto. Nino, Carmencita, Cubay and Viscaya.
